  • Absoutley staggered you used this setup, how on earth could you see properly! Please no one copy this setup FFS, very dangerous.

  • Jeezus that looks like a he'll of an obstruction! If you ever got into an accident with that thing in you'd probably be found 'at fault' and your insurance would skyrocket!

  • @Kuhnaydeein Then it's a good thing I don't use it anymore....

  • i made a flip cam mount thats super cheap and easy check it out

  • Stopped watching after heard "My Boyfriend"

  • @RyanDSM94 cracked me up!!! funny how that happens huh? your eyes glaze over, your ears suddenly tune into distant sounds and pick up things like the movement of tectonic plates...

  • i just got contour hd 1080p, problem with it is a power button believe me in my case power button is a excuse my language, bitch

  • OMG Just stupid and Dangerous

Just spend some money on a Helmet Camera please so u Drive safe and u r not a RISK for other ppl on the Road ...

  • @shrenk22 Already have, you should see my more recent vids dood.

  • why the fuck? its in your view. i race motocross and i cant have any thing in my view. it just fucks me up.

  • LOL at Baklava. My boyfriend gets mad when I can it that. It's Ba-la-kla-va! hahah

  • @MonicaRidesMoto lol, ya that was my bad. I've lived and learned! :D

  • why not get a gopro?

  • @kopaszQ Too expensive, believe me I want one though!

  • @ashf00t i believe you, is looks unconfortable with the Fuji in your face :(

  • Yo Ash, I just picked up a Fujifilm Z70, and I got it attached inside my helmet like yours with velcro and all, but when I talk, it sounds like im murdering the mic, how do you get your microphone to work so well when talking to it?

  • @TonyStew5 I was lucky with the placement of the mic on the camera. I don't have to do anything because the mic is not directly infront of my mouth. It's actually on the side of the camera.

  • you should get like a flip mino hd

  • you are not wearing that on the street are u?

  • @Freakorcycle No I don't wear this anywhere but inside my home...

  • @ashf00t ... i feel safer now....

  • Hey, do you have any info on that 'wind resistant thing' that you mention at 2:56? I have the CL-SP too, and I think this would cut down a lot of the wind coming up through the neck. thanks

  • @dafobra Well actually I don't think HJC makes chin curtains. I took one off of my boyfriend's Shoei helmet he wasn't using and it fits it, kind of.

  • i bought that helmet today since you seem to like it and it was 180$ compared to the scorpion i wanted fro 310$!!!

  • @Paintbalplaya606 It is a very nice helmet if you want to save money yes!

  • just to be funny with the mouth guard in your helmet looks like a smiley face but its cool

  • @NUGGETSandLAKERS haha nice :D

  • how do you adjust the mic sensitivity, i have a finepix z and it gets really muffled and u cant understand what i am saying

  • @Nsbullrider I don't think you can...I've never adjusted the mic sensitivity. I think it's a camera first, video camera second.

  • stopped watching at balaclava.

  • I have the same camera and tried your set up. Have you noticed that the camera seems to lean a bit forward if you lift up the shield? And them when you put the shield down, it hits the camera? It happened to me but I fixed it, but the way I set it up tickles my nose :(

  • @MrSalenga so what I have to do is use the tether strap and string that around my cheek pad and inbetween the neck pad so that the camera keeps from hitting my visor.

  • stupid idea with this cam there..

  • lol that looks a bit dangerous.

Ebay sells cheap helmet cams from about $80 bucks down here in Australia.

  • i think you need a car. with a heater. i think the holes are for you to inhale and exhale

  • -2 were i live this week... lmao xD

  • Thanks for the tips. Look forward to vloggin this summer :)

  • baclava wasn't my first guess to what that was, but if you said like my fire fighting nomex hood, then yeah lol. good setup and love that finepix z

  • Toooo Lonnnng vid..

    Lilbit complicated mount

but it seems to work pretty well

    Anyway, thanks for the tips.

    Very positive

  • Hey ashf00t was your bike at the bridgeport parking garage? i thought i saw it on Sunday.

  • lol baclava. Rock on Fuji Z20 owners.

  • Ash...at 6:40 you mentioned that someone else had this setup...it was ME!!! :)

Yeah, we had communicated about a year ago or so about our helmet setups, and we actually use the same camera, and I like that little flap in the front of the camera to secure it in.

    Cool vid......take care

  • yup! Now I remember it was you! Thanks!

  • Not for anything, i've watched a bunch of your videos and I like em. This one worries me a bit though. In an impact, i'd be concerned that the camera would become a projectile inside the helmet. Have you considered using a genuine helmet cam designed for this purpose? Just concerned. I'd like to see the vids keep rolling!

  • The same worry here, at the beginning I really thought You are using some weird helmet that has the cam built inside or something. This is dangerous even because like You said, You can't see the spido and the rest of the instruments. Plus it could become a problem if You hit a bump or so and the camera hurts Your pretty little eyes. - hmm - Are riding with glasses or contacts? Just windering. I tried to ride with sunglasses but they don't fit in. So I carry 2 visirs all the time.

  • I wear contacts. Also most motorcycle vloggers use this kind of setup. Only people with money can afford the ones that can be connected to the side of their helmets. I've also heard issues with those because they either don't have mics or they have really crappy mics. My setup works for me.

  • After almost searching for the whole day on the web I assume I need to go with the little camera setup also. Just would have never thought it to work so well as Yours does. So I'm in a search for a tiny camera. My first choice at the moment seems to be fuji finepix z35 - its a smallone. just need to figure out the helmet usage cause the front part of my IXS helm is really close to my nose so need some "engineering" done.

Peace out for now - its like 1 am here already.

  • Hi again.

I just e-purchased a minicam for the helmet setup - will be checkin it out in the next day or so. It was cheap and megasmall! it is like a matchbox with only 2 buttons on it. But ok - there will be a vid about it. And if it works good I'll post it for everyone so that many more could use that.

  • Ashf00t -- that hood you showed in your video is a **Balaclava**. Baklava is a very sweet Greek desert. :) I bought a balaclava this year for riding too -- it makes a world of difference.

If you ride in cold weather a lot, you should also look into some nice Gerbing heated liners for your gear...

  • Ash-who? ;P

  • I hope oyu never get pulled over with that camera on. The cop would probably get you for wreckless driving because of the lack of visibility. good luck! safe riding hope you stay warm!

  • ms mcguyver

  • fantastic video ashfoot. You've inspired me to have a go at recording some rides in Sydney. If I put one online I have your setup inspiration to thank... as I always imagined they were goofy external camera mounts which i wouldnt bother with

  • heh ya, it pretty much just sits there :)

  • haha.. "baklava" is a very tasty treat. ;)

  • 7 degrees?! And I think it's bad when it's under 40...

  • Ha. That's nothing. If it gets below 70-65 here, its cold.

  • lol oh you Californians.

  • can you say your name again, I didn't know it =)..very well done Ash, I'm planning on doing a kinda vlogger camera compilation video after the holidays..this is definitely one I'll recommend to new vloggers =)

  • o you funny cat you! Haha I'll have to see that vid!

  • The HJC breathguard is awesome for cool/cold weather. The vents are more for your breath exhaust, not so much intake. A must have to keep yourself from getting sick! My only complaint is the nose part bothers my vision a little bit, but it's better than breathing in the cold air! Ride safe and Happy Holidays!

  • ah, gotcha, now that makes sense lol. Thanks and you too!

  • i might try this set-up i've been looking for a good one as i might start vloging.

  • sweet!

  • What kind of breath guard is that? I've always wanted one for my HJC, but I don't use that helmet anymore. Would be nice to know for future reference.

So our setups are kind of similar, I will have to do a video of mine sometime.

  • heh I wanna see your setup!

The breath guard is for an HJC CL-SP helmet you can look it up on their website or something I just went online to look at which one I needed. All you have to do is match up your helmet type to the breath guard.

  • Oh okay, I found it. I never thought about looking for it myself! haha

  • Thats not to different from my set up. I wish i had that breath guard though!

  • ya, it really comes in handy!

  • And you have only one piece of Velcro on it?

  • on my camera? No I show all the pieces on the vid, there are velcro pieces on the bottom of the unit to make sure it doesn't move and the little flap thing to help it mostly stay up.

  • Thanks Ash needed a better idea on how to mount my camera in my helmet

no vids yet probably next year it is freezing here

  • Sure no problem, I know that my other video is not what I've been using for awhile so I just had to make another one to show you all!

  • nice ash,,,i am looking into the kodak zi8 because it has an external mic jack

  • ya the mic placement on my camera is perfect, it doesn't get really loud wind noises but is also close to my mouth to hear what I say.

  • hey ash..what i mean is you can put the camera anywhere on your bike...handlebars...back..ect..and have a mic feed into your helmet and narrate that way..but ...i think in your helmet would be less vibration

  • ah, ya, I found that most vlogs where the camera is outside of the helmet feels like I'm not apart of the ride but more of a passenger. Well I guess that's what you guys are when you watch my vids but I like to be able to feel like I'm in the same room not two different rooms hearing each other. But whatever you decide will be how you vlog I guess :p

I always thought it would be awesome to have another viewpoint to look at :)

  • nice

  • 7 Degrees!! That's cold!

The coldest ive ridden in was 5 degrees but only about 10 miles rt.

    BRRRR!

I just got the finepix z33 w/p so I can motovlog underwater. lol.

    great vid and ride safely.

  • ya too bad I didn't film it for the "Polar Bear Challenge" but it was way too cold to film it anyway.

  • breath guard 9:00

  • ya haha I kept getting caught up on mouth guard or nose guard but yes it is a breath guard.

  • yesterday i bought a spare battery and a 4gb card so ill have over 2 hours of footage at a time.like when i went to santa pod i missed alot of good footage ie a top fuel drag car blew its engine 20 feet away from me :)

  • Ya an extra battery would be nice!

  • i like turkish/ greek baklava pastries

  • haha o very funny

  • this is pretty interesting to watch lol (idk how it is to ride in cold weather) but, pretty cool

  • You're right, this is not the weather to ride. I lowsided on MLK and broadway, you're lucky to do more freeway runs, its seems safer :(..

Anyways, your camera setup history is pretty similar to mine. My first setup smashed the crap out my nose, then I rested the flip between the entire visor and it works great now.. think outside the helmet XD..

  • Ya, I try to not hit corners if I don't have to during the rainy season.
