@TheSd90mac. The locomotive is a Kato SD45 that I custom painted for Morrison Knudson (MKM) ownership. Several ATSF SD45s were sold to MKM in the mid 1990s. They were later leased back to the Santa Fe with ATSF lettering marked off and MKM stenciled on the cab.
I'm sure that many locomotives will pull more freight cars than will fit on my layout! As for the wigwag I don't operate it a ton. It's set on a toggle switch so I usually show it off when visitors come by. I'd guestimate it's been run 20 hours or so since installed with few issues. About the only complaint is the motor mechanism may stick if I don't turn it on for a couple weeks. A quick tap & it's working fine. If used more frequently it doesn't have any problems.
How well has the wigwag held up to use? I've seen a few posts on the 'net from people who've had to wrestle the "rayon thread" back into position, or have even had it break off the mechanism. Any practical experience to mention for someone looking to buy his first wigwag? :)
Built from an American Limited Models Kit. They they offer a stationary model, operating model, & operating model with actuating detectors. I have mine mounted to a switch.
