I used to be part of an LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi, and transgender) Alliance organization at my university. I ended up parting because they have the view that any gay person can flaunt their sexuality because of the amount of trauma that has taken place in the past. No one cares what anyone likes.

That was an excellent summation of how most people feel when something is shoved into their face. (Exellent humor too). I've worked in the restaurant industry for over six years now; believe it or not, it's not that common for anyone to come into a restaurant and discuss their sexual lives. I completely agree with you man, and I'm not straight nor homophobic, I'm open about my sexuality, but not so open that I'm spilling mental imagery on everyone I see. They make us look rediculous also by doing this, as they create a basis for which stereotypes are made, and then we're discriminated against on the basis of THEM. It's not just straight people they turn off either, there are gay people they turn off as well, quite possibly the majority of gay people.

I used to be part of an LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi, and transgender) Alliance organization at my university. I ended up parting because they have the view that any gay person can flaunt their sexuality because of the amount of trauma that has taken place in the past. No one cares what anyone likes.

If you came into my restaurant and started talking like that, and offending customers, i'd kick your ass out. NOT because you're gay, but because you're too damned stupid to know that that sort of conversation isn't appropriate when others are eating, and you're too obnoxious to care.

I completely agree with you man, and I'm not straight nor homophobic, I'm open about my sexuality, but not so open that I'm spilling mental imagery on everyone I see. They make us look rediculous also by doing this, as they create a basis for which stereotypes are made, and then we're discriminated against on the basis of THEM. It's not just straight people they turn off either, there are gay people they turn off as well, quite possibly the majority of gay people.

however, this is just the same a straight guy talking loudly about his female conquests, talking about how he boned so many chicks, etc loudly. and i hear this ALL the time. so i think this occurs more often than the scenario you described, and most likely it has happened in your store. but you probably were not disgusted when a patron behaved in this way. i believe that is a double standard.
