  • I remember at the time critics slated tin machine to hell, voted worst album and all that shite, just a great rock and roll group man .fuck critics.. who needs an opinion of an individual to tell everyone what is good music, and what they consider to be bad music, how really unnecessary critcs are tossers

  • Very underrated period for Bowie. I think it had something to do with the time period...everyone expecting too much and too little from the Duke. But the hard sound--even with all Gabriels' indulgences--was refreshing to me. And they ROCKED in concert!!

  • i think bowie really wanted this to be a big hit, must of broke his heart when it did,nt really do anything, especially after all the promotion he did for it. i remember the second tinmachine album being a complete flop commercially, even his most loyal fans did,nt bother with it, i don,t think bowie ever recovered commercially after tin machine, although he tried in vain with the album black tie white noise.

  • David Bowie is the sexiest man on the face of this earth.

  • TinMachine, Lets have therepy while pay our tax's. Lol

  • i love this video, but why is he sucking on a marble foot?

  • So underrated. Those idiotic critics gave Mr Jones such a kicking even though this was his good quality music. Time of course, as always, has proven them wrong.

  • Rundown of Bowie's antics in this vid.

REMOVING THE SHIRT/SEXY DANCING -- The Gentleman was trying to get women going.

STROKING HIS BARE TORSO -- Again, to get women going.

THE STATUE'S FOOT -- Random weirdness

THE TWEEZER THING -- A nod to the movie THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH, wherein the Thin White Emperor (Far higher than a duke!) portrayed an alien. In said movie, Bowie's character took a tweezer to his eyes to remove the cosmetic contact lenses that were part of his humanoid disguise.

  • why... was he sucking a foot?

  • Well.....*pauses* That was fun! :D

  • Great stuff

  • I have the extended version of this :) as well as the extended Baby Universal

  • @paulwall1981 Hunt Sales son of Soupy Sales believe it or not

  • @Kubrickfan1. Who is Soupy Sales then?

  • @paulwall1981 He was comedian/children's entertainer from the 50s 60s

  • I wish too I wish he still sing damn his cute he looks sexy without his shrit on

  • tin machine is a fucking greater rock band ever!!!

  • love this band

  • An awsom and very sexii Bowie!!!

  • sublime.....

  • Thanks for the tip, Crawdaddy!

  • he makes me feel on fire, on fire, on fire ...

  • And so do I

  • I think the success the Sales bros enjoyed was due to the Bowie and Iggy Pop stamp. As well as other artist. Unfortunately they never quite achieved the same success under their name alone. But hey who wouldn't be honored to be associated with these names. Not to mention getting to mingle and hobb-nobb with kings.

  • @mechanicalvalve But of course. Bowie IS after all the emperor of contemporary music. So these two fellows got to mix with kings and AN EMPEROR (higher, ever higher, than a king)

  • @ruleoforder SOMEONE is not a fan of Mr. Bowie, I see

  • GREAT SONG....PERIOD

  • GREAT tune-- and Mister B touching his own naked torso -- his own naked, glowing, willowy, silken torso -- PLENTY of sexxxxxy! Bowiegasms to the Nth Power

  • Great song

  • Few people appreciate Tin machine. This was Bowie's foray into "band" music, something he has shunned during his career. He works it well, here, though. Soupy Sale's sons are in the band, for those who remember Soupy Sales. In the industry now, they are called the Sales Brothers. This music garnered a lot of negative press, and I could never understand why.

  • I remember Bowie talking about Tin Machine in an interview "I demanded a democracy but it doesn't really work that way does it?" I suppose that from his own perspective he was somewhat limited in what he could do with the band. I'm not familiar with Tin Machine yet, but I must say this track sounds simply great!

  • Sometimes I wonder about that quote! Sure, Bowie said he wanted a democracy, yet Tin Machine was purely his sound for the most part. And this is coming from a die-hard Bowie fan. You have only to check my channel for proof! It is a great track, and there were other good tracks on the album, as well. Hope you enjoy them! By the way, as I mentioned above, the Sales brothers did work with Iggy Pop, too.

  • I still think Tin Machine has a very distinct own sound and song structure though you can here some very Bowie-typical elements as well (such as handclapping, sax, electronic soundscapes...)

About the Sales brothers. I wonder if they received enough credit for their contribution to the Lust for life track since I feel a lot of songs have nearly copied the bass and drum section.

  • There's a lot that makes these songs Bowie's. You've identified a few of them. The lyrics are another big flag. I think you're right, the Sale's brothers probably didn't recieve enough recognition for their efforts with Iggy Pop. This happens a lot in music, and it's a shame. I hear "Lust For Life" in a lot of songs and advertising. It must be a horrible thing to go through if you've created the original. The Sales' brothers kind of faded into obscurity, but parts of their songs are still alive.

  • @Droyd21 The Gentleman may have demanded a democracy, but it didn't work out that way for this simple reason. David Bowie can never have a democracy. He's the emperor. Simple as that. Long may the Thin White Emperor reign

  • he had other bands..pre space oddity.

  • Yes, I think there were three or four. The King Bees had a single.

  • Pure class from every guy in the band. Few people apprieciated it at the time......or even now in fact.....

  • fantastic song!

  • Granted, there was the initial shock of TM's sound in '89, but I gotta tell ya, this period (89-92) really was one of Bowie's best. TMII is a closet masterpiece, and their Boston show in Nov.'91 was one of the best I've ever seen (I've seen at least one live gig from every Bowie tour since Serious Moonlight). I honestly feel that Reeves helped save Bowie's creative ass in late '88. Just my opinion, is all. Thanks for the post.

  • I agree with you. TM1 is a masterpiece as far as I am concerned. TM2 is more uneven but some exceptionally strong songs like for example Goodbye Mr. Ed, which I'd say is one of Bowie's best songs ever.

  • What a great song!

    David as always GRANDE!!!

  • I just dont believe we'd be even talking about TM if Bowie hadnt been lead singer. If you like them great enjoy them but a few songs aside I didnt rate them. When i attended some of their gigs in the US and the UK they were quite tight but aside from some great tracks that have been mentioned imo they didnt set the world alight and Bowie did say that when he was interviewed !!

  • It all depends on who else might have been the lead singer and what the circumstances were. The Sales bothers worked with Iggy Pop. They certainly weren't recruited from nowhere. Also, ZBowie had a toubled relationship with Iggy Pop, and well, there you have it. I personally think Tin Machine was brillant.

  • Great, i love all tin machine stuff!!

  • I saw Tin Machine Live at the Livingston forum in Scotland back in 88 !!! Was £8.00 a ticket and had to camp outside over nite for my tickets ... would do it all over again !!!

  • Hell I Would Camp For A Year To See Bowie Again!

  • @seanissane I don't care where it would be I would fly to whatever next concert he had is. If he did it again :(

  • I remember hearing a bootleg of a show in Boston in which this song was played. That was 15 years ago, and I still think about this particular song. It was amazing.

  • fabulous thank you! this is my favorite Tin Machine song.

  • you Are Very Welcome!

    I Love Tin Machine!

I Thought Tin Machine 2 Was Way Way Better Tho!

  • really? I think both albums have their worth.

TIN I you got "Bus Stop" and "I Can't Read" and "Amazing." Then on TM II there's this song and "Shopping For Girls."

I have heard so much about this video, and it was not a disappointment to finally see it.

  • Yes True! Now Thinking Back I Can't Reaelly Choose One! My Fav. Songs Over All Are Tin MAchine And Crack City! The Only Song I Don't Like Is The Re-make Of Class Hero!

If You Want I Have The ideo In AVI Format Way Better Quailty I Can Upload It TO Megaupload And You Can Download It!

  • sure that would be wonderful!

drop me a message when you got it. thanks :)

  • Thank you- "Shopping for Girls" is one of my all time favorite songs....ever. Is that weird?
