  • we're actually discussing this movie for history class. bad thing our teacher had to skip some parts, I guess he didn't want to let our class see him crying too.

  • when he finds his brothers reamians that always gets me

  • Comment removed

  • This movie and Aftershock are real sad movies and great 5 star movies, makes me not wanna go to the theater anymore and watch those stupid ass hollywood movies

  • very hard tobakko..very hard. Human Beeing is so cruel. I know it maybe dont fit but some scenes are imo overdone. these ones where the older brother runs the front alone to take out mg. But it could also be that is was really so, the regisseur took this maybe from survivours. But the whole movie is the best anti-war film ive ever seen

  • ..,how touchy this movie, won bin was so amazing actor, thanks 4 uploading this kinda movies..,

  • "We are going back to school you know"

"School? I can't wait to go to school"

    "How about you?"

Those last four words knowing all that has happened in the entire movie...my god did I shed tears. :')

  • @syncmaster930

Those last four words being "me too of course", I should add, haha.

  • wow im proud of those s. koreans who fell in the war without them i woudnt be here and also the japanese surrendered agianst U.S because if they didnt i also woudnt be here

  • I love s.korea i love s.korea

  • THis movie was so nice!! IT reminds us on how we love and take good care of our brothers!!! :')

  • this movie makes me cry in this part when he was old at the last...this movie shows on how we love our brothers and on how we take care of our brothers..God Bless S.Korea...from me,a filipino!!!

  • TToTT without words

  • mannnnnnnnnnnn

i knew i would cry if i saw this movie again... but i still really wanted to see it...

the love is something so amazing.... and so beautiful... <3

tho it may be naive, i really do wish we didn't have to have wars... we all just want to be happy right? why not be happy together...? *cries and cries again*

  • It's a shame that such brotherhood is scarce in today's world. We humans have grown so selfish that siblings are unable to get along with one another.Hope some day that we humans will be able to bond with one another like Jin Tae and Jin Seok.

  • I shown this movie to friends of mine a few months ago on my birthday. Though I thought a few would weep, they really enjoyed it, and one of them plans to download it.

  • This film, shows the trud war, the pain, the inocents dies, the crazy people that kill only because the neight thinks diferent, congratulations... Excelent film

  • i cried so much too because it rememberd me to a kinship who died he was only 14

  • Cried like a baby at these last few scenes! How can Won Bin make me cry so much in one movie but laugh in another! God damn it

  • unfortunately, communism can never be used effectively, because in virtually every situation, it has failed. communism is complete evil. For one thing, everything it stands on is completely a lie and not based on facts. Another thing, why should I be paid the same as the idiot who produces less than half of what can i produce? Think about it.

  • It depends on how you look at it. Communist is both good and bad. If a government uses communism correctly, their country would flourish. But most communist countries have power greedy governments. So most people see communism as a bad things it just depends in how a government uses it. Ppl misunderstand communism, they judge without using facts.

  • Best movie, should get an Oscar, and is communist bad or good, I'm communist to, I think

  • This made me cry Q__Q

Not even Titanic or any move me shed a tear, but now i'm crying. Thus movie was freakin amazing, this was the best war movie ever: epic battles, amazing plot, and an ending that makes everyone cry :]

  • Wow I don't think anyone can watch this scene and not cry.

  • even though i knew what was going to happen, i still cried

  • this is the best movie ive seen since black hawk down man i cried after the movie =)

  • Thanks to uploading, translating

soooo many things i got from this movie, really.

Such a great film, just call a movie like this 'film'

  • Thank you for uploading such an amazing film!!!!!

  • THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS MOVIE!

  • SK is develop and we cant say tat NK is not develop as they do not wan to have other major power country to be in their country as they find tat their power is not controlled by them and so they did not develop.

  • 전쟁에 승자는 없다..

  • It matters not how many times I see this movie, I always at least shed a tear especially once Jin-seok finally finds Jin-tae 50 years later. Very few movies have touched me so and continue to do so like this movie.

  • This is like Saving Private Ryan in Korean version althrough it is better than some other Hollywood war movie.

  • This movie beats any war related movie made by Hollywood in the past or in the future. This movie was too good!!!!, I don't got a brother but still, it made me tear up, for i got a little sister.

  • @wtfisthis451 this also makes me cry

  • ALL HE HAD TO DO,, ALL HE HAD TO DO,, was to take Jin tae with him and not let him go... all he had to do..... they wouldn't have separated....

THAT'S ALL HE HAD TO DO , sometimes one little careless decision... if you didn't insist on it stubbornly,, it will leave a regret for the rest of your life...

  • @bigfatdick5000 Umm... No. Without that MG to hold back the Chinese, they would have overrun the guys running away and then both would be dead. His older brother made the ultimate sacrifice.

  • Watched this a few years back but I now understand the significance of this war. Finally there's a use for my history lessons lol. Great movie.

  • I think everyone cried to this movie :'( wayy sad. damn , i cried for a half hour str8 in my room , and im a Pimp. this is insanity lol

  • I DEMAND TO SPEAK TO THE DIRECTOR this was a great film! really touched me in the end, i cant stop thinking about them, they were so close , they were brothers , but in the end they obtained their friendship back in peace and happiness really made me cry thank you!

  • its amazing this was based on a true story

  • I'm so proud to be South Korean. Sometimes living overseas makes your forget your roots and where you came from, but watching this for the 2nd time really makes me want to be close to home.... it's such a different world here. I just hope war never happens again.... there is a reason why we Koreans live hard and study hard at an early age. We came to what we are now, from nothing, like this movie shows. We NEEDED to work hard, probably something Americans would never quite understand...

  • You know, I didn't even notice there was a hot girl standing next to the old man.

  • @laxjoh I like this quote "We humans are all both monsters and heroes" is this yours or a historical figures?

  • This film is a masterpiece. 10 out of 10. Cried first time I watched and brought a year to my eye every time after. Truely wonderful.

  • i cried too when he found his brohers bones this is a good movie 5 out of 5

  • Jesus WHY!?! I've never, ever, cried for a movie before. Until now. 5/5

  • 4:03~4:18 that made me cry seeing that my baby sister saying same thing that she want to go school and, it really hurt my heart just listening to that I cant afford for paying for her school

  • 너무 눈물난다..남자인데 울면 안되는데

    이 장면만큼은 너무 슬프다ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

  • @kimmjjh lol I cried too and im a guy

  • just cried

  • Comment removed

  • waaaaaaaaaa! this is the first war movie i evered cried to!

  • Wow. All I can say right now. Wow.

  • I was born in South Korea, my home and beloved land. Now I am in the USA, which is also my home. I will never forget the men who took shrapnel, bullets, artillery, mortars, napalm, and face death so that I can be here today. Next time I see my grandfather (in Korea haven't seen in years) I will show tremendous respect for his service in the Korean War, as well as various others who shared our pain in the front lines. Thank you vets of the Forgotten War. We will always remember your bravery.

  • @laxjoh it can never be truly forgotten nor any war nor soldier. its the saddest thing to see how a specices can be trained to its primal roots to kill kill kill by men in suits. humans have been around for over one million years and we still haven't learned how to get along with eachother. i'm guilty the same as everyone, but i'd rather not see Humans' existence on earth plagued with constant war from start to our ultimate end. and we think this is OUR world.

  • @inchun But hey, I like the film. It's a well made film.

  • @inchun True. But what I meant was, how accurate are some bits? From what I've read, SK was very poor before the war, and was going through huge social unrest because of the US' unwillingness to recognize their commitees and their attempts to form their own government. When NK attacked, many saw it as a liberation attempt more than an invasion. So with that in mind, should SK be depicted as a sunny, happy place at the beginning? Should the northerners be shown as rabid fanatics? Stuff like that.

  • @Nemeres Yes Nemeres. Korea was a place much like how civilians from modern Afghanistan are. They just want to live their lives and be left alone from the political ideologies. SK WAS poor because Japan had stripped everything they could from Korea during WWII. Everything you see in terms of supplies and food was mostly provided by US. US was unwilling because Korea was still not strong enough to stand for themselves, and still aren't against the communist front of Asian mainland.

  • @laxjoh Yeah man, only if Japan hadn't split us up into 2.... assholes..

  • @TheJuliewood hey hey hey no need for that word

  • @Nemeres Not that many in SK saw it as liberation when the north broke through. Many saw the war just a reason for families and friends being split. I'm sure I still have blood relatives in North Korea somewhere as my grandfather escaped the north before the divide and went down south, then served in the front lines for the SK front... but this war proved that there really is no difference between communism and democracy. We humans are all both monsters and heroes.

  • @Nemeres sorry for sudden interruption. to some extents, you are correct. the left wings and many commoners thought that was liberation. so there were many actions(including partisans) for co-laborations with north army which organized by underground left wings, and then slaugteres by South think about it, only before 5 years of that war, they are one country, and korean peninsular was only ruled by two dynastis over 1000years without any devision (maybe not a moder nation).

  • Shit this still makes me cry

  • 나는 태극기를 휘날릴수 있는 내 자신이 자랑스럽다

  • This is the first time I know I'm dropping tears!

  • This is an amazing movie. I don't cry usually but this moved my beyond words. I hope and that one day this world will be at peace and that no one will have to suffer through war.

  • I cried so hard and it was in the middle of a public library. No shame there.

  • @SuperWaveShredder Ahahaha I feel you. I was at the cinema when I first watched this in Edgewater, NJ. The entire theater was pretty much people crying out loud. Right now I'm at work trying my best not to cry watching this... Trick is to pause it and look away for like 5 minutes... then cry again.

  • PLEASE STOP THE WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh my God I cried so hard.

  • My grandpa was in Stalingrad in 1943 and lost his brother there... I fuck the war.

  • @Iegendaire You can't fuck it, you can only hope it won't fuck you.

We have to prevent hate, that's a great first step...

  • @Iegendaire mine also lost his brother there.

Doesn't matter on which side they were, both lost so much. No human being deserves this imo.

  • feels like the ending is missing something...........

  • the same race...the same people...the same Joseon decendants... this is like a civil war in Korea... after a lot of fighting, soldiers from both sides lost the idea of why they were fighting

  • 정말 제인생 최고의 영화에요.....

한국전쟁때 전사하신 모든 우리나라 병사분들 감사합니다..

  • Do you know? Do you understand? This is our wound.

  • simply beautifull !!

  • WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! T-T

  • fuckin communist.. fuckin china....

  • @m3owth Hey hey hey. Those are my people. Blame the commies not the people.

  • @m3owth

both sides kill people, so what .....

  • I wish this movie had actually made the effort to talk about what the Korean War meant and about what caused it. The story of the 2 brothers is sad and everything, but the KW was a monster created by all sorts of foreign interests and collateral effects from WWII. It would have been nice to have the highest-profile KW film talk about that a bit more instead of making it just about melodrama and "patriotism". But that's just me, I guess.

  • @Nemeres This movie was basically for Korean domestic market, and most of the Korean people already know about the backgrounds of Korean War already. so I guess they omitted those background stuffs. and this movie is not that patriotistic, you can see the massacre of civillians by South Korean forces in this movie(where big bro's girlfriend is killed). there were fierce critics to that scene by so called 'patriotistic' organizations. (you know, some sort of old, right wing people. :p)

  • @Nemeres Massacres done by South Koreans during Korean War were officially denied until 80s, when extreme right-wing dictators ruled the country. so we recently got the freedom to talk about the mistakes that our country have done..

  • @kirbyksn I see. Thanks for the cool reply.

  • @Nemeres and the political trends in the 3th world-like korea-after world war two was very pro-socialism-even it dosen't meant communism revolution- at least anti -fascist, anti- colonialist, anti- landlordship sentiment provoked deveilopment of left wing to a certain degee, the situation of South korea was the same, but because of the division form 1945, the conflict between lefts and rights was very fierce, even before Korean war(1950)

  • I still cry every time I watch this. Fuck. I have so much respect for soldiers, they're willing to die for their country. They deserve a shit load of respect from everyone.

  • @Jd2ohsix

The excavation crew found Jin-seok's tags on his brother's remains, and Jin-seok recognized the PEN.

  • this movie make me cry!

  • @lucasa7xmetal1 Yeah , Me too

  • tho only movie on earth, that makes me cry

  • 한국인 이어서 자랑스럽다. 전쟁에서 자기 목숨 바쳐서 조국을 구한 모든 분들께 진심으로 감사드립니다. 감사합니다. 감사합니다.....

  • War...no one wins in the end..

  • Amazing movie...I cried a lot.

  • damn damn damn. it makes me cry every single time.

  • awsome movie very inspiring may all the soldiers who in the korean war may find eternal life :)

  • best movie ever, true definition of love

  • wow i nearly cried when he relised his brother was alive and gave his life for him,and at the end when they were at his place of death.

  • It's amazing to see where SK is today. It's not easy being in between China and Japan, and NK, with no where to go but into the sea. Now they're one of the most highly developed countries in the world, have hosted the 1988 Summer Olympics, and will host the 2018 Winter Olympics. Seoul was once obilterated from this war, but look at Seoul now. Please stay strong South Korea and beyond respect to those who fought in this war. Thank you so much

  • @kryhappy96 I read your comment and I have to say, thank you. I was born in South Korea in 1991 and I moved to the US in the year 2001, and I know that my people in S. Korea are very strong. They don't scare us. But, I have to admit, if it weren't for UN's help, South Korea would be dunzo in the Korean War. Thank you UN and I do mean all of UN, including US and Canada. Thank you for your support in the war effort. However, I respect my gramps the most, he fought in the war when he was 18.

  • @StrawberryIchigo121 Thanks! I totally agree that if it wasn't for the UN's, Korea would be one country..of communism. 감사드립니다, UN's and your grandfather

  • JT quit school to shine shoes in order to help pay for JS's university. When JS got drafted, he volunteered for suicidal missions to send JS home. JT defected to the N when he believed that JS had died due to his imprisonment by the S. When he discovered that his brother was still alive, he killed as many NK soldiers as possible so JS can retreat to safety. JTe gave his life for him. That's how much he loved his brother. Incredible film. Pray for SK's safety everyday, as the war is not over yet

  • @boklgokl Yeah you're right but it's in America's national interest that militant commuists don't tae over free countires that support the ideology of freedom. America wanted every country to remain capitaist in order to secure international interests with each other, through business relations and military reasons. Communists want centrally planned coutries and will supress any who want some kind of freedm outside of the governments "given" freedoms. Communists globaly want to see the US fall.

  • The best war mover by a country mile

  • @Jd2ohsix When theey dig it they thougth its as jin-seok but theyr where wrong so he came ther and they fond the pen jin tae gave to him and he knew that was jin-tae

  • When i saw it for first time i wished i could kill those fagots in train so the brothers wouldnt go to war...

  • I love this movie, i watched it on TV and i wanted to see the scene where we find remains of his brother so i typed "TaeGukGi ending"... its such a sad movie.

  • Thanks for posting this. one of my all time favourite movies. ive cried every time ive watched it.

  • Das ist der beste Kriegs Film den ich gesehen habe.

  • we're all the same people at heart... why must the world let petty things come between them?

  • This is the best war movie i have ever seen I RECOMMEND EVERYONE TO SUBSCRIBE TO "DaTOnEBLaCKGuY01" for making this awesome movie available to all of us...

  • We fight for people we don't even know that sit in comfy Capitol buildings, on any side of a war. Americans fight for freedom from the fat asses in the capitols. God bless freedom, God bless every freedom loving Korean, and may God rest the mens souls who fought for it.

  • @ICommentCuzImBored America doesnt fight for anyone.See problem is that people dont realise it.They fight for their government fights for their own interests.they see a country full of petroleum , but the government of that contry doesnt want to share it with america. Now how can they get their petroleum or oil , whatever. They Put in a rebel group with a leader that will be paid. Then that group because it is financed can overthrow the governemnt and give oil.

  • @ICommentCuzImBored In this particular case, america wanted to overthrow as many Communist governments as they could.Like north korea or vietnam. They find a reason to blame that country, finance its enemy and if its not enough they join the war.American government sens soldiers that dont even know what they really are fighting for...I mean they do , but its not the true reason.God can bless everything u said , but he cant bless what that government is doing.

  • This is indeed a wonderful film with a very emotional and very sad ending. I have cried every time I have seen this and I have seen it three times now (I am a 24 year old male, fyi).

If you like this movie, I would suggest seeing the movie "The Man from Nowhere". It stars Bin Won (who plays Jin-seok Lee in this movie), and he is absolutely amazing. His character is completely different than the one in Tae Guk Gi, but his acting is brilliant. I wish he would do more films.

  • wont lie I cried....,,, Mannnnnn when i watch movies like these i wish I could do something,,, something to make a difference,,,.... but I can do anything.:'(

  • War is just a waste of time.. war just make all human in this world split.. more sadly is even civilian will get the result.. isn't we all in this world shared this world together.. our blood is the same colour.. the important thing is we all the same and we all are brothers n sister.. say no to war... piece...

  • Kind of a lackluster ending but one of the best war movies ever made.

  • this film is too emotional, too true

  • Superb cinema....Epic film.

  • That poor man, I bet I just drowned thousands of little worlds

  • Man, you could swim in my tears.

  • dammit the... the.. t-tear drop..on my cursor ...pad thingy is m-making it hard to move a-around... and c-clickk stuff......*sniff* and the comments about how people would do the same for their brother is bringing tears to my eyes as well.

  • i cried a lot.

  • I have 4 little brothers and I cried at this scene, If this were to happen to me I would do the same to see them safe

  • You dont have a soul if you dont get tears seeing this scene!

  • best fucking war movie ever.

  • I can't stop to crying :((

  • Jin-tae is pronounced.. what?

  • @hinakimichan Actually, Jin Seok says "hyeong." Men and boys are the only ones to call their older brothers hyeong while women and girls call them "oppa."

  • Stop making me cry, movie!

  • Comment removed

  • THAT WAS SO SADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

COMO SE ME CAYO LAS LAGRIMAAAAAAAAAAAAAS

    sooo beautiful ;w;~<3

  • OOOOH ESTA ECENA ME MATO WN DIFICIL CONTENERSE POR NO DECIR IMPOSIBLE NO LLORAR CON ESTA PELICULA LEJOS UNA DELAS MEJORES PELICULAS QUE SE HA HECHO.........

  • great movie. i cant watch this without crying

  • Brillant! sad in the end great film! but wish it would be on tv more times!

  • one of the best movies i've ever seen, I put it off but finally decided to watch it and wow!! jang dong and bin won are amazing, I was already crying when the movie started!! great film!!

  • thank you so much for uploading this film! i've been wanting to see this, thank you so much! such love for family... he'd really do anything to keep his brother safe and alive... :D

  • aw the ending song makes me wanna cry i watched this show for history class one of the best movies ive watch so far

  • Had it been written and composed in proper poetry and verse it might have ascended over time the same epic rank as the Iliad, Song of the Nibelungs, Pharsalia, The Bruce or the Mahabharata has! But as a movie I doubt that it will reach immortality; and it has a great flaw: It is composed too late and the 50 years of Korean partition has left very deep marks in it as no one would have spoken and thought like the characters do in this film in the 1950s in spite of all ideological nonsense.

  • Especially the Southern soldiers do not behave like actual Koreans of that time but as American troopers do: The same shabby way of wearing their uniforms, the same behaviour of the common soldiery not as warriors but as football players on adventure vacation; but the tale itself is brilliant: Two brothers caught up in a bloody civil war and their tragic fate; their plans, dreams and love brutally destroyed by an unforgiving fate and how they are changed by war into different persons.

  • Though I am not sure if the strange cause of this war: Two opposing ideological hegemony powers dividing Korea, installing their puppet governments and then driving the nation into a savage civil war, which is unlike a real civil war as no opposing parties did cause it like the Roman, Spanish or English civil wars but foreign powers brought in their arrogance this carnage over Korea – what have the Koreans to do with Communism or Capitalism? They only knew about their traditional Confucianism!

  • not to take anything away from this movie, but this movie took some of its themes from black hawk down (when they were performing surgery on the guy that got his leg blown off when he stepped on the mine) and saving private ryan, especially the opening and closing scenes with the old guy. also, the overall theme of this movie also similar to that of saving private ryan. here, the big brother tries to get little brother home. In SPR, tom hanks tries does the same but he's under orders to do so.

  • @radioman521 wtf man? Field surgery was common in that times because people did get wounded in battle, just because one film did it before this doesn't mean this is copying it. Besides, there are series like band of brothers that contained it. It doesn't mean they copied the scene either.

  • All this time i favoured another war movie as best portrayed...and this was waiting for me to find it! It was beautifully filmed and it was so sad!! I dont understand why the archeologists thought it was Jin-Seok in the beginning though. The actors were amazing! The only reason he became a communist, was because a) he was captured and b) the people he loved the most were killed by his own people.. its not much of an excuse but he goes to show when he was in a trance, perhaps he was hypnotised

  • @x4samoora3x They thought it was him because he gave his brother the pen to give back to him when they meet up. It had his name written on it.

  • the younger brother is stupid he always blame his old brother who always put his life on the line, evevn in the grave he not stop blaming he is the one who should die ho done nothing in the war

  • @kashimkashim1 that what little brothers do... =) we big brothers can just smile...I think Jin-tae did smile

  • damn I cried. I cried like a baby

  • COULD'T Be BETTER !!!!!!!!!!

  • i know it's already been said more than enough, but thank you so much for uploading this wonderful movie. i can't believe i haven't watch this movie till now, thank goodness for my history class. i love the acting that won bin and the other actor did, the both of them definitely deserve an oscar each.

  • Damn that girl is so hot...

  • I hope i don't loose a band of my brother during my Marine Corp service.

  • This is one of the most horrific and sad stories I have ever seen on a screen. I have nothing else to say. :, (

  • epic movie im a teenager but cried like a 4 year old

  • TT-TT crying too much from this movie. Love this movie

  • This was much more than a simple war movie! Thanks for posting this. I can't express how much I appreciate it!

  • Greatest war movie ever! I can't stop crying :(( From Vietnam.

  • So many lives lost on both side due to these two brother love for one another. Now the question is are those lives worth less? Or are some lives worth more than other?
