singer need to prove his versatility ... mana dey was classical singer and but he sung light songs as well.. that's prove his versatility..... kishore kumar with out any classical training was singing everything... don't you like his songs.......

common guys.... A singer should not restrict himself to one style ... and show must select the singer who can sing any type of song....

@jessi161075 No singer doesn't need to prove his versatility. Also, Kishore Kumar never even attempted to sing classical, he knew his limitations. Manna Dey too won't sing romantic songs the Kishore and some others did - same here. Farid is a good classical artist with great potential, the saregamapa should judge him based on his ability rather making him sing all kinds of songs.

all singers have there specialized field in which they sing and he belongs to classical and semi classical field of music he should have been given such songs on which he can prove his abilities..... and over everything i think its a conspiracy against him..... he is so good in his field that is classical and semi classical.... i think he should have been given fare chance...... i hope that ranjeet rajwada do not get a pop number to sing on the show someday resulting him getting out....

@drtahir76, I saw today episode but the joy of watching Farid play with the sur is not there ANYMORE.. all that is left in the show are trained caricatures who will continue to dance to the tunes of janta n demands of the judges...

Please forgive my arrogance if you think it is, my opinion is,this guy's absolutely capable of being a very good musician, but he was trying too hard to prove his "Classical" ability, music is not just to show the mastery, but there should be "sense of proportion" to maintain the absolute beauty. Too much is never good.

@chayanott It's not your arrogance; you should understand what he was trying to sing first. He sang two compositions one in madhya laya the other in drut. This is the way it should have been sung in the first place. He showed both pedegree and talent in both compositions.

Bandish, followed by Saware, & now Albela from Hum Dil dey chuke sanam..what a way to go..Jiyo brother. I could see Suganda, Abilasha, Kamal, and Ranjit's responses whilst u were singing They know it'll tough going from now onwards. U sang albela in 2 different styles - mukra & antra - only u can do that. Rab Rakha!!

@r8rdarklord Why does Shekhar think that the first half was not with taal. The only difference was that first half was sung in madhya laya while the 2nd was in drut laya. He actually improvised in both compositions except that the second was more electrifying, but then that has already been the nature of drut. Anyway, just an observation.

@r8rdarklord I respect your observation but I too thought his "take off" was not impressive. He was off key right at the first "Sajan". Pl. Listen again. I am with you on everything else. Fareed is otherwise quite a "Tayyaar artist" and deserves a place in this race and music industry.

@1medislim That is a valid point however the problem is not with artists. The problem is with the way the singers are asked to launch into a song. They should allow the artists to take a short alaap without music to establish there sa. For tayyar artists this will take care of 99% of off-key starts. Now regarding Shekhars comment, if he meant this then this valid but he said something totally different.

@r8rdarklord I think Shekhar meant the same thing, what we are discussing. I agree with you, they should allow the artist a short Alap to establish the "swaroop" of the Raag and to adjust their notes/voices....OR they should at least let the artist listen to the cord for at least 10 seconds, before starting to sing. That will give the artist some time to totally absorb the cords and launch into the song correctly.
