i7 is just not gonna last, I know it, only X58 Intel can run i7's, and I've always just had the feeling it's not gonna last, and Core 2 Quad/Core 2 Extreme Quad is! :S
Actually, the i5 is supposed to replace the whole core 2 series processors. The i3 is essentially a celeron. Slowest, but at the same time, power efficient.
It was a long time ago, don't really remember. They just explain the OC genie feature, the base clock OC button, and other features that are on the P55 boards. It was running 3DMark06 and the scores was covered by paper at the time, open box setup.
i9 is 6 cores there will only be 1 and it will be an extreme edition for x58 chipset and servers. i7 x58 will b e phased oout besides the 975. The new i7 860 and i7 will be enthusiast quads. The i5 will be mainstream quads. and the i3 is dual cores.
Yeah, they told me that there are going to be two i7's for the LGA 1156 socket, one is the i7 860, clocking in a 2.8 GHz. Yes they are going to use the i5 name still.
awhhh he's all grown up =)

what's gonna be the difference between i3, i5 and i9?
i3'll probably be low spec, i5 mid range, i7 (current) gaming, i9 enthusiast?
AmH032uTuBe 2 years ago
i3 = Core 2 Duo
i5 = Core 2 Quad
i7 = i7 or Core 2 Extreme on serious drugs
i9 = Mach 1
That's just my theory.

What I mean basically is the i3 won't be a C2D and so on, it just replaces that.

So they are going to use the i7 name on the P55 S1156? That's kinda dumb are they still going to use the i5 name?
