Some of their work got lost in melancholy & was verging on despair. Yet there are such chestnuts of brilliance in among their works, that remain timeless.
This was the closing track from the 1973 LP 'Baby James Harvest' and, along with ''One Hundred Thousand Smiles Out' & 'Summer Soldier' one of my three ALL-TIME UBER-MEGA-ULTRA RAVE-FAVES from the album.
A Genius...Thanks Stuart for the massive influence...This along with `Sea of Tranquility`,`The Angelus`,`Beyond the grave` and `In search of England` is the strongest material BJH produced before they went slightly MOR in 1980..after the departure of Mr Wolstenholme ironically...My condolances to all family, Sue, John and all associated with JLBJH and Maestoso...Sleep well Woolly x
I spent my 17th and 18th year of life desperately in love with you. I noticed once at a concert in 1975 that you had an envelope in the back pocket of your Wranglers and I did the same for months on end.Putting on my Wranglers meant putting an envelope in my back pocket.I was mad about you and your music. When I met you before a Floral Hall concert with John , Mel and Les on the promenade in Southport it was like meeting God himself. I adored you and your music and now you are gone.
@sandgrownen His song "Moonwater" was always one of my favourite BJH songs. There's something very majestic, gentle, yet tragic about it and I have to say I am saddened to learn of his death, which I have only just discovered. RIP.
@hauntboy I read a few years ago that poor Woolly had psychiatric problems.I believe he was in a hospital for a while.I was delighted when I read that the lad was making music again.I find it so terribly tragic to think that this life had become too much for him.It is very, very, sad.
A gem that you have left us with Woolly, it has your hallmark all over with it`s Saddleworth brass at the finale. also thanks redbaron863 for the images, great.
wagnerian in scope I agree , but the imagery matches the range of the musicians vision , I believe . Very entertaining and forceful in a teutonic fantasy.
This is an incredibly beautiful video of one of my fave things: the moon. Gazing at our lunar orb on a gloriously clear night is one of the greatest pleasures in my life.
I had never heard this song before- it was quite lovely! Thanks for sending it my way. 5 stars!
still great Wolf, thanks, David
