One of the best mixmasters of all time. Used to listen to him on the radio in the 80;s. Also saw him perform live at the Sussex in Norbury. Hope he is still mixing it up
What can I say, excellent tune. Les "MIxdoctor" Adams is actually my brother and as said below he is still a club dj and has his own studio! (December 2011)
In 1988 when i was 14 i was made to believe this was los angeles mix as in tone with the underground. Current day, im suprised lee adams didnt get his ass sued for copyrights galore, just like adam ski (admaski) did with his nrg lucozade single.
this one of the tunes that made me what i am, this the origins of the uk house scene, mite have tot take the guys offer up on producing with the man les
I am good friends with Les and I have been reading these comments to him. I asked his permission to update everyone on here. He is doing very well and if you would like to see his new studio or even record a Mix with him goto dancefloorclassics website
I was thinking about the old bootleg mixers from when i was younger and this popped in my head..kno its not a bootleg but plays like one..sounds wicked thru my woofer..i had this on 12" vinyl and it got the floor bouncin when i played it in South Manchester..there was also a bootleg aswell featuring 'Gwen Guthrie's?' 'aint nothin goin on but the rent' which i had on white label..but cant trace it so any1 reading this plz post me a clue so i can trace it if poss. pass my apprec on Mscrp 2ur uncle
@TheMscrp Still DJing clubs dont really know what else to be honest. I moved to Canada an got Married and all my family is back in the UK An i rarely get a chance to talk with Les. As for Emma I havent spoken to her in years but yes i know her. An their daughter i speak to when I can..my cousin
Can somebody tel me what they are saying at the end. The Crispy and the cookie, Mysterious this...., the Adam's family. Ah thank you very much. what are they saying exactly? :)
I can't believe this. I was just browsing throw and I didn't even know it's name. Wow!!! You really made my day. Oh! oh! oh! oh! bring back the those days

Bits & Pieces was put together in same edit fashion as the L.A. Mix releases that contained freestyle and club hit all put together. Stars on 45 was more like a mini medley.
I bought a 12" White label in the late 70s called "Bits and Pieces" which used Beatles hits and other 60s and 70s hits segued in to a drum machine beat. I think the Stars On 45 records may have heard this original 12", which as far as I know was not released commercially, and the released the Stars series. Still not as good as Les Adams though.
I think I saw Les Adams at a motorway service station. There was a S1 RS turbo with the number plate LAM IX. Was that his?? Amazing record and time 1988. Voodoo ray, yazz, coldcut etc.
A quite undeservedly almost forgotten classic of its genre, that. Still sounds good 21 years on. IIRC the whole of the album "On The Side" was far better than one might have had reason to expect it would be
LA Mix! this was one of the records i learnt to mix with (on a "Dave Double Decks" mobile disco console with no pitch control).... I remember seeing Les Adams in a magazine and they showed his TINY studio in Luton (?).... looking back he was vastly underated... kind of the UK's Ben Liebrand i guess...
I was thinking back to records from the 80s and I remembered this. It took me a while to find out what it was called though. All I remembered was it was related to the name of the guy who made it and it had an Addams family sample at the end of it.
He use to mix on the decks on a bar stool at the Sussex,a natural gift for the turntables and could give the younger DJ's a lesson or two, enough respect to the Mixdoctor.
You are in luck I am the brother of Les Adams who was LAMix, he is still a club DJ today and I go with him to a nightclub every Saturday where he still mixes. I won't say too much in here but it's a nightclub in Surrey. Let me know if you want more details.
Hi Paul I remember Les use to spin tunes at a pub in Norbury (Croydon) called the Sussex which was rammed every weekend. Mate of mine Bro was one of the bouncers on the door. This was just before he made it big. I still have his CD (On this side). He was also responsible for the Capital Radio new years Eve parties if i recall Right. Give him my regards. And as track 8 is entitled Don't Stop.
Heya thought id reply as my dad hasnt seen this message yet. Its good to see an hear he still has fans out there. Ill let my dad know about this message the chances are he even knew the bouncer lol small world
it was a hit in may and june 1988 u would of been right the 1st time m8y. Not my kind of music though - i hated dance music but i was checking out what the hits of 87/88 were like weighing them up.
Been trying to find this for ages, but kept coming up with bomb the bass beat dis.

Yes, Les is a great guy - very talented - top DJ in the 70s too, he worked at Regines which was London's No1 club (and REW Pro audio during the day).

Was that the one where they spliced together old 60s and 70s hits in the way Stars on 45 was made but better?

With Google, Youtube and some time, it seems you can find just about anything.
One playthrough and it all comes back. Not quite the same as the radio edit that I remember as a 13 year old, but the good stuff's still there!
