  • It seems as if his singing about Kelly Hu, I know they've been together for quiet a while..

  • "Not a damn thing" - *bitchslap on her face*

  • i like fast times at richmond high better than st elmos fire

  • SR-71s version is cool but i think that Bowling For Soups version works better

  • It's funny, seems like all the west coaster's think this is a Bowling For Soup song, while everyone on the East coast knows it as SR-71's song.

  • @mkjo

Hey i am from Cali and i always knew he wrote the song and was released on their Album :)

I have loved this band and this singer for quite awhile!

  • @MusicG33kBandFreak

I prob shud hav said "most". didn't mean to say "all"

  • jeez thats a good song!!!!!!!

  • I love Bowling for soup but I prefer this version I can't believe I just said that Jaret don't make Chris sit on me

  • Download the audio from this video at searchripgrab doht cohm.

  • Aha there are bits when his voice sounds like Jarets :P

  • BFS version is better.

  • I saw that tour in 2001. SR-71, Nine Days and Vertical Horizon. Great tour.

  • if you are not sure who did the song first do some research ....

i looked wikipedia and 1985 was first done by SR-71 but they gave permission to BFS to make cover of it ;)

  • i like how they changed the lyrics a little

  • who cares about who played it first, Mitch aces this one the best!

  • Come on guys. He said it in the video. He wrote the song, not SR-71. And BFS used it/bought it.

  • he sounds so good live :)

  • Originals are always better =] Seeing him sing this live is just awesome!

  • both are great, thanks to mitch for writing it though. i prefer bowling for soup, but mitch is also amazing.

  • thats my 'uncle' he used to watch me in the studio wen i was born in between recording with sr-71

  • mitch allan wrote it, jarret from bowling for soup wanted to help write the song and mitch gave it to him. jarret fixed it up. thanks to mitch allan for writing it. and i also love bowling for soup!!

  • both versions are great

  • ammm i lke more Bowling For Soup

  • same :)

  • mitch allen wrote the song, and gave jaret permission to change it and do what he wanted with it.

  • bowling for soup .....?!?

  • they redid this song, sr 71 originally did it

  • He's a guy - what do you expect?

  • any one have the chords?

  • this is an ez song to play but 1 of my faves sr-71 is the best

  • i love this song!!!! sr-71 rulez forever!!!!

  • MITCH!!!!! <3 mfl

  • I LOVE MITCH'S VERSION BETTER!!!!!!!

  • 1985 was originally done by SR-71... hate it when people argue about it... mitch wrote the song... hope they get it!!!!

  • mitch wrote it and bfs made their version of it, idk if sr 71 ever played it as a band i dont think that they did so technelly the bfs is the original.

  • no SR-71 did play it first

  • yes they did, i dont know what cd its from but have the sr 71 studio version on my phone

  • watch?v=16aLuM9kMKA&feature=related

  • he is great

  • I love this version better than Bowling's. IDK why...

  • Original.

  • That's probably it.

  • wow

i had no idea he had any part of this song lol

but i always thought that BFS and mitch sounded similar

    i love both versions!!!

  • lol "THE RUBBER BROKE!!!" 3:28

  • his voice is so amazing!

  • Should've done the yell on the bfs song "The rubber broke!!"

  • bastard

  • My opinion .. ^^

  • Mitch plays this song much better then BFS, well thats what we'd expect if he wrote the song, wouldn't we.

  • I like BFS better but I like SR-71 as well. BFS took this song and made it more upbeat and changed the lyrics a little and gave it more humor so I would have to disagree on Mitch getting total credit for it considering that BFS changed some things in the song. just my opinion.

  • bfs's version is funny but i like sr-71's version better nad if bfs wanted it funnier they would've kept in the "never knew george was gay" part

  • i like this version better

  • mitch wrote the song, and now bowling for soup plays it. He should get all the credit for the song, not them.

  • I agree with you.

  • ok i am sorry for sayin bfs is way better but they are also good i would love to see jaret and mitch do it together

  • sr71 was better than BFS...

and this mitch play this song a lot better!!!

  • He has a really good voice man. I am impressed.

  • Sr71 made original 1985. Get your facts straight!

  • No... this version is zhe orignal ... the version of Bowling for soup is a cover version

  • wow... some of you guys are like real idiots.

Mitcvh clearly says that he wrote this song... but some else made it famous... hmm bowling for soup??

    watch the video dumbasses!!

  • whoes song is this bowling for soup or SR-71?

  • originally by SR-71 i believe. then i think Bowling for Soup did it and hit it big

  • Mitch wrote it and since Jaret and Mitch are good friends, Jaret wanted to play it and its a bfs song

  • sr- 71

  • he answers that question if you listen

  • Actually he said that after SR71 took their hiatus, he started writing songs for other artists. I guess BFS needed a hit so they asked him a for a song, so he wrote 1985 for them?

  • does anybody know who the george he is talking about refers to?

    "never knew george was gay..."

  • I think its about george michael. Because of this wham part:

    She rocks out to Wham!

Not a big Limp Bizkit fan

    Never knew George was gay

Hoped they'd hook up one day

  • Are you kidding? George Michael

  • george clooney

  • 1985 was originally an SR71 song. But Bowling for Soup did bring attention to it. I like the Bowling for Soup version too, but this isn't bad either. Mitch Allen is doing it solo acoustic so just props

  • Bowling for soup does it WAYYYYYYYYYY better plus they have better singin big time they ROCK mitch helped Jaret (my name) of bowling for soup make this song CHECK OUT MY PAGE

  • ...Mitch didn't help Jaret. Mitch wrote it then decided to "give" it to Bowling For Soup. In my opinion BFS does sing it better than SR-71...but don't say it as a matter of fact, because it can be interpretated as discrediting SR-71.

  • why couldnt i been born in the 70's n grew up in 1985..it wudve rocked..slayer.nirvana.metallica..im tired of all this pop fashion music..i want the real music back..

n i hate how he gave this hit to bfs..n bfs dnt even give credit to him in this...mitch allan u rock =]

  • ya they did hes in the music video at 1:01-1:05 and on the cd where bfs has it it say all songs written by "blah" except 1985 written by mitch allan

  • Remember it's a live

  • i prefer the verson with bowling for soup but this one is good too

  • The punk version I like the sound of better, but this one rules too and it's cool to here it from the original artist.

  • THE RUBBER BROKE!

  • Awesome voice

  • <3 tha voice :P

  • you suck

  • THE RUBBER BROKE!!

  • Man this sucks i mean sr-71 is like better than any punky stupid band and they r not famous this SUCKS!!! i love them :S

  • man it sucks SR 71 is not as famous as some other bands, i think they're really good ,they should start a new album..

  • well part of sr-71 is in cinder road a few others are in forty acres and mitch is just writing songs for every other person in the world. they are kind of busy.

  • what cinder road and forty acres? are they bands or something?

  • yeah you know guitars, drums, music?

  • im not dumb ok , i didnt know those bands...

  • hence the reason i suggested them to you. Both bands are on myspace give them a listen. both are rock but forty acres is definitly a harder rock than cinder road

  • ok ill give them a listen, thanks

  • who the hell said he was gay? whatever. i like both versions of this, but mitch had the best voice... it's sad that sr71 isn't bigger... they never made even though they had great songs...

  • It's good that hes not gay. i can tell he straight by his songs......

  • Great!!! Mitch rocks! cant wait for his new cd!
