Its the game inside the 360 I played halo 3 and I got the red ring of death just connecet it out then back in and start it then take the disk out and dont do anything with the disk just throw it away so no need to send it in for a new 360 just the game so dont buy used games at game stop

Cheers i have already had it repaired in warranty, (new motherboard), phoned microsoft they said they would repair or replace for free if happens again which we knoww it will,so not to bad, just wish they would make it so it didnt need to be repaired in the first place.good luck with your repairs m8.

That is not the RRoD (red ring of death). The second player slot has to be the only one that is off. Yours is just messed up. But its not the ring of death. Cuz had it and it sucked.

By the way the xbox is full of shit moron. Most of the overheating of xbox 360`s are user related. (You put your xbox in a closed area) Keep your xbox out in the open and it will be fine (and if your still not certain buy an intercooler) ...... By the way ps3 fans overheating happens just as much as xbox 360. Its just you don`t hear about it as much as the xbox because there are way more xbox 360`s out there then ps3!

I recommend you get the xbox fixed. Or be VERY VERY carefull on not moving the xbox at all because it will move the optic reader and if u move it while its opened it will scratch the cd.

The xbox still works because. I will tell you first what 3 red rings of light is. The xbox overheated and melted the cd optic reader and it melted it out of its regular place thats why sometimes when the xbox get red rings of death the cd ends up scratched. So if the cd optic reader melted but is still in its place the xbox will work with red rings of death.

yesterday i was playing my 360 with my friends when one of them knocked the plug and the 360 shut off, then rebooted with 3 red lights. I turned off the xbox and turned it back on and it worked! :-)

It's because the system is overheating because of getting to less air in and getting too less air out. The xbox 360 and also the ps3 have to be in a well ventilated place whith fresh air. The next problem of the xbox 360 is the air- intake while vertical position. If you observe a xbox 360 from all sides, you wanna see, that most of the air is getting in through the grey sides (The both ends). And one end is bloked if the xbox stands vertically.
