New Moon WAS funny at places, intentionally or not. Like the elevator scene and the contrast between how Eddie is described in the books and the way poor Rob looks without his shirt on. I loved the scene where Jacob goes "It's just blood, Bella", fast as lightning his shirt is off and then he sort of pokes Bella's head with it. :D But I actually liked Jacob, too bad about his annoyingness in Eclipse... And I, too, will go see Failing Dawn just for the fountain of blood and the fairytale ending.
u kno, i hav a question about the twiliht saga. aren't the "vegetarians" (the cullens) suppost to be, like... weaker than the um, sad excuse for "vampires" (james, victoria, laurent) that drink blood? if so, then how does it make sense for the cullens to be able to win against the others? like, when edward *cough* fag *cough* takes on james in the bellet studio, HE SHOULD HAVE DIED. it would have been much better for everyone if he had.
I empathise with your depression, I have it myself and it runs in the family. Its absolutely crushing, and lots of people really don't understand it (i.e. 'my boyfirend dumped me, I'm depressed')
Yeah you really gotta pace yourself when it comes to the arts. People don't think it's dangerous but it really is. You can really hurt your mind and body by going in too deep too fast. HellI got arthritis recently from drawing so much and writing. The lesson is that if you're going to be a writing machine, you had better take good care of that machine - meaning your health if you expect it to work for you.
I offer my support. I to suffer from depression and have artistic aspirations. I wish you the best of luck!
As for New Moon, I'll admit Jacob is pretty smexy which made Edward's return all the more annoying. His and Bella's relationship seemed so much more natural to me my brain started to fry just trying to figure out why she took Ed back.
Overall though it was a notch above the first(the opening title was my favorite part). But will Jamie Campbell Bower as Caius be in the next film?
The New Moon movie had the worst scene I have ever seen in a film. In the last part of the movie Alice has a vision. In the vision we see Edward and Bella running in the woods. Everything, from the wordrobe, the way the scene is shot, and the damn sparkiling is awful, sicking, and terrible. I cannot believe that they put that in the film. I cannot believe that someone would ever write that and think it was worthy to put on the silver screen.
@ReviewForReel My best friend and I cracked up during that scene. It looked like a gaudy abercrombie commercial. I facepalmed myself for the downfall of humanity.
I recall Twihards saying that the Volturi could have "like totally killed the Death Eaters!!!". After watching New Moon and seeing Dakota Fanning with stupid red eyes and a fine actor like Michael Sheen embarrassing himself, does anyone seriously think the Volturi came across as being anywhere near as threatening as the Death Eaters? Come on. They were comical. Even the most ardent Twihard cannot possibly argue for that.
'New Moon' reminds me of 'Fatal Attraction'. Like that one scene from FA when Glen Close is sitting on the floor, staring off into space, turning a lamp on and off repeatedly. That is something I can picture Bella doing in NM. The thing I like most about the Twilight series is that by comparison it makes every bad relationship I've ever had look very healthy. ^_^
Did anyone else think that it sounded like she was giving birth (very violently) when she was screaming on her bed? Boy do I feel sorry for Charlie...
(as artist to an artist) whoa... why do you have your wall painted in such a heavy purple, when you have problems with depression?:(
I really like purple, but I would probably never paint my walls in such color. Nor dark green. Or blue. They can effect mood VERY badly - it's scientifically proven. And tested by me :)
Surrounding with light, warm colors is what you need.
And I'm sorry to hear about a devastating computer failure. I know something about it too.
Have no Twihards noticed the absurdity in this movie of the male models (ie: werewolves) walking around cold and rainy Washington State barechested? The excuse that werewolves have warmer body temperatures makes no sense. If that's true, then why do they wear pants?
Because if they didn't wear pants, then everyone would see Meyer for what she is. XD... actually I couldn't fault her. I should start a franchise of pantless werewolves...
i was actually upset with the new movie. if it was filled with her bitching i'd like it better. also the director for new moon was actually quite decent. that also upset me. this is coming from a guy who thought the first movie was the funniest thing ever btw. well i hope the next one sucks enough to be good.
Hold out until Breaking Fail. That's sure to provide the lulz. The first half of the book had me rolling on the floor at times. ("Edward, why are there feathers in my hair?" "I had to bite a pillow or two [during sex].")
My favorite moment was probably when they saw the vision of Bella as a meyerpire; a sparkling slow motion jog through the forest. (...You could practically hear Chariots Of Fire in the background.) Even my twihard friends were trying not to laugh.
Theoretically, I might be willing to buy some art... It depends on how much money I have left over from the holidays.
That was really WTFy for me. Bella's dress was much too girly. It was supposed to be an ultra short, sexy cocktail dress.
If this is an indication of what the Breaking Fail movie is going to be like... All watered down and stuff... I admit I'll be really disappointed. I want fountain of blood vomiting, and c-section via teeth, and thinly veiled sex references. I want an anorexic looking Bella and Jacob slobbering all over the newborn Antichrist. I want beautiful spinning little dust motes!
I so agree with you about Bella clothes looking too girly for her. Than again everything looks so awkward because Kristen Steward doesn't fit the brain dead air head Bella. The whole time Kristen Steward tried so hard to act girly and emotionally damage which doesn't fit her character. Even went acting weak and scared seem so werid. They shoud had gotten someone who act like Meyer because she seems to fit the character Bella. I bet Meyer would had play Bella if she wasn't so old.
isn't the fact that she actually played a cameo role tell that Meyer( is it Meyer or Meyers?) wanted to be Bella?
I remember clicking one of those links for internet quilt for her, and some of the photoshopped squares actually photoshopped Meyer and Cedric Diggory (I know he plays Cullen, but he'll forever be Diggory in my mind until he comes up with better roles) next to each other... that got me a bit... freaked out.
Hey Shmeilia, are you well? You said you were almost running out of money... but how will you get by if you aren't going back to work? Is everything okay?
I'm trying to apply for disability because my chronic anxiety and depression makes it hard for me to work 40 hours a week. I might still try a part time job file clerking or something like that, but I'm not going back to work at the yearbook company.
I'm all right, just sort of down right now. Thanks for the concern.
@shmeiliarockie I think people with depression should only have to work around 20 hours a week. I don't think they shouldn't have to work at all, though. I have a thing about people who don't work: Unless you never go out and socialize, never do hobbies, never use the Internet, never have sex (in short, never have fun), you're not entitled not to work at all. However, 40 hours is a bit too much for people suffering with depression. I suffer borderline depression myself, so I know. :(
Luckily my novel is very spread out over the course of a year. I never plotted the middle out before hand so I had to make up a lot of stuff. Strangely the middle and the climax (both of which weren't planned) were my favorite parts of my novel. When I go to rewrite it (after plotting it out a lot more) I'll probably be keeping the stuff I didn't plan originally, more than the stuff I did.
I did the same exact thing in Nano. Except when I started I realized I couldn't start from the point I wanted to start at and still make sense for the rest of the novel... so I was writing from the top of my head. Never made it where I could actually write from stuff I had already planned out. Woops. xD
I think I must be weird because I'v never in my entire life not wanted to write. For NaNoWriMo I wrote 72,000.... and I'm still going. I feel extremely weird. lol.
I saw New Moon... twice. I laughed myseld through it twice. XD XD XD
I'm sorry that got writing block and that your experience wasn't what you expected, but I am glad you were able to get something out of it. And I agree with taking a break; you seem very tired and in need of a good nap.
And yes, theoretically, I would be interested in purchasing your art, pending on content, price, and how much money is leftover after the holiday rush, school tutition, and WonderCon. But I read the comments and it at least seems like an intriguing idea. I hope you feel better
The problem with the "passing of time" scene is that it really looked as though Bella just sat in a chair looking out of the window catatonic for 120+ days straight. It was unintentionally hilarious. Had she been a male character, the producers would probably have shown her growing an ever lengthening grey beard with each passing month.
I pirated the movie with a friend for a good laugh. You're completely right. I'm pretty sure the movie was one big--please pardon the term--cum fest and pick up lines shoved into that one face Kristin Stewart makes.
Seriously, try watching the movie and counting every time she makes a new face. I think I saw a new one once... I might be wrong though.
I'm interested to see what your art will be. Partly to support you, but I'm one of those nice guys. Also, the cure for writer's block is to write. I know it sucks, but if writing is going to be your profession, you have to work at it. Even Stephen King says so.
After I get my art craving out of my system, I'll be back on that story. Think of it like a boyfriend: we were spending every minute together and now I just need some time alone. That doesn't mean I'm leaving (it), but I need to take a breather, you know?
I'm basically doing more or less what I did with the first one. Which is buying a bootleg and watching it with my friend in the safety of my own home where the the twihards can't hurt me.
2, If you didn't pay to see it, how did you see it?
3, for Nano, whenever you hit one of those Idunwannawrite moments, just write anyway. It's painful but eventually you'll want to write again, and you'll have a word count to show for it!
1. I'm ripping out pages so that when I add layers and layers of paper and paint and gunk, the book can still close.
2. I pirated it.
3. Hey, it's not like I didn't try. I wrote 80 fricking pages! But more importantly I wrote the entirety of the story I wanted to tell (save the very last chapter). Why add more words when the story doesn't need it?
Besides, when I write I tend to neglect my art, and art is what I went to college for. I haven't made anything proper since I graduated.
2. Well, I've had a few people wanting my review of the movie (I take requests. I really should list stipulations) and I can't find it online in any reasonable quality in english (the Italian version was clear, though).
3. Yeah I ended up deleting a bunch of scenes that were only put in there for the count. But a few I kept because of their random brilliance. You have the bonus of writing original fiction--I chose to write fanfic for mine. :D
i did pay to see it... but the theater we were in was FULL of haters!!! it made me so happy. i actually liked jacob until i read eclipse. so for me, the only book that exists is new moon, and there's no edward... and bella jumps off the cliff and dies... and then there's just 200 pages of jacob being awesome.
i still think seeing taylor lautner shirtless the whole time was worth my 11 dollars *shrug*
Just had a, suffice it to say, interesting convo with mom, she wanted to see Bella go crazy too... so I asked her if we should try renting or watching the first one online, and she said "maybe I already bought it" and I said "why'd you do that?" And I said I just wanted to watch it with her once so we could make fun of it and she said maybe she could take it back... XP
i've always cared about Jacob, since I read the New Moon book. I'm just worried about how his character's gonna be treated on the next book; I keep hearing it's bad. about the New Moon movie, I was hoping that they're gonna do "meanwhile" montages; like, what's happening to the rest of the characters while Bella was going EMO. I was even hoping to see Jacob's hair being cut off. Unfortunately, they made it more faithful to the book than I would've wanted. The movie was eye candy, but that's it.
He becomes a jerk and forces himself on Bella several times, even after she broke her hand punching him in the face. I think Meyer realized a lot of people liked him more than her precious Edward, so she made him an ass (and then made him imprint on Bella and Edward's newborn Antichrist daughter in Breaking Fail).
yeah, that's what i keep hearing. that's why i'm so mad at what Meyer did to Jake! she would have just gotten rid of the werewolf twist altogether but no...she had to follow her editor's advice and made a waste of paper and ink! X(
Needed to ensure my first comment, now... can you tell us more about your art idea? I wouldn't know if I wanted something until I saw it. Currently, the only art I'd consider buying is probably commissions of my characters on DA.... Are you living with your parents? I'm a little worried about you now. With what were you trying to go on dissability?
I have to say, you made the movie sound fun! I hear the actress really thinks of Bella as crazy, so I want to see... I also have this shallow -
Shallow fantasy of going to see a Twilight movie with a bf and making out and making fun, with us the only two in the theater so we can be as obnoxious as we want. XD
It's currently in the planning stage still... I was thinking of making a vague subversion of twilight. Other than that... I don't know yet. I'll show my progress as I go along.
Yes, I still live with my parents. I have chronic anxiety and severe depression which impairs my ability to work 40 hours a week. In April I had to stay in the hospital for a while because I attempted suicide and it scared the shit out of me. I haven't been quite right ever since.
I'm glad, I'd be terrified for you if you were broke and you didn't have a place to stay! Hmm, can't say I know what kind of legal services are available for that... You sound like you'd fit in with alot of my friends, one in particular. I wonder if she'd know something about it. I'm very glad you're still with us. ^_^;; Take care of yourself! (Take care of yourself might as well be my catchphrase by now, I should practice what I preach more though... lol)
You missed the best part! You FORGOT the very best part of the movie! Bella has a SPINE! She told Edward to "shut up". I was so freaking thrilled! Seriously, I left the movie going "Bella has a SPINE" (and "wowzers, Taylor's hot").
The only time when spinning was acceptable was that awesome cliffdiving thing with one of the werewolves. Do you remember? It followed his dive down? That was cool.
I would be interested in buying it but, sadly, I have no money. -sigh-
Well, I feel better about going to see that movie. At first I just went for the trainwreck syndrome, but I actually enjoyed it a bit, with the wolves looking kinda cool and all...I felt ashamed for a bit. ^^;
And I would buy some of your art if I could. We're kinda dirt-poor and Christmas is coming up after thanksgiving sapped our money...so...yeah. T^T
Keychains? Pfft. Been there done that. They have boxes saying "Don't make me choose" a music box, puzzles of Shirtless Jacob, and sweet hearts with "live 4 ever"
First comment, w00t! You've inspired me to do a video of my own, discussing the wish fulfillment aspect in certain video games, but in a more positive manner (because the games are less damaging than Twilight...)
Twilight has some cool merchandise. My mom and I were laughing at a box that had Bella w/ Jacob and Ed going "Don't make me choose." I also asked her for a puzzle featuring shirtless Jacob (in Jest, of course) My favorite is the Twilight sweet hearts "Bite me, Live 4 Ever" Terrible!
Did you watch the Movies?and do you think there better?
I love youre Videos!

i jumped when i saw jigglypuff!!! :)
i did pay to see it... but the theater we were in was FULL of haters!!! it made me so happy. i actually liked jacob until i read eclipse. so for me, the only book that exists is new moon, and there's no edward... and bella jumps off the cliff and dies... and then there's just 200 pages of jacob being awesome.
i still think seeing taylor lautner shirtless the whole time was worth my 11 dollars *shrug*

Yes, indeed. A friend made it for me.

Well, I'll look forward to it!

-sigh-

Welcome back! ^^ You seem very tired. You should DEFINITELY take that break.
...Holy crap. DIARIES?! Wow. What's next, keychains?
Well, I feel better about going to see that movie. At first I just went for the trainwreck syndrome, but I actually enjoyed it a bit, with the wolves looking kinda cool and all...I felt ashamed for a bit. ^^;

I heard they tasted indescribably bad, too, lol.
shmeiliarockie 2 years ago
Aren't they the same as regular sweet hearts? I tend to like them, though alot of people don't.
