Is this the same as the Funeral Ode on the Occasion of the Death of Queen Caroline [ 1737 ] ? I think it must be. The book,the text, seems to be very close to that of the Dettingen Te Deum [ 1743 ] . Nice to have a chance to hear some Handel that I've never before heard.
@a1b2y25z26 Glad you like it! It is nicely concise and festive. As for Queen Caroline, it's the same queen, but a different piece. The words are (or should be) identical to those of the Dettingen Te Deum. The Te Deum is a standard liturgical text, so any piece with that title will have the same words (allowing for historical idiom). I think this is a dandy piece which should be heard more often!
This is wonderful! I did not realize that Handel wrote music to Te Deum. In English no less! By far my favorite version of this song.
