I heard that cameras at walmart aren't actually recording 24/7, I heard that if there is any suspicious activity going on, one of the employees will call some kind of code to the backroom that will let the security people know to start recording that specific isle or area.

The guys driving out in the parking lot are only there for the presence to deter crime. Funny story. am 14 and after i saw this video i walked to my local walmart and stole 2 8g flash drives/80$ 1 usb hub/12$ 1 dvd/10$ and i did all of this by just walking out the front door, the security(a old person) yelled at me to stop and i just keeped walking then i walked off into the full parking lot and made it out with 112$ of stuff for free. then went back to the same walmart and did it all again but this time i got 2 xbox 360 games i wanted and a soda and still walked out the front door

@younfellony no and i even wore the same shoes and hat i wore the last time i was there, if you pay attention to the way its ran. the store does not film all the sections all at one's and its the enploeys job to keep a eye out for people stealing. in the intercom they will make a call marked 873 witch means film and then they will say the section. this means they are recording one section so ones all the security is focused on one section move to the one you want and take shit out the package :)

Walmart doesn't care because they can take the loss. Their company makes $500,000 every minute and if you don't believe me look it up. Also here in California even if you're arrested for shoplifting (which is a misdeameanor) and you have no warrants you're getting out of jail the same day. Our jail and prison system here is so over packed that they can't hold people for misdeameanors anymore. And even if you get sentenced to 180 days you'll only serve 30 max.
It probably has a lot to do with how crazy our laws are, if the laws were more forgiving (e.g. someone could actually get a legal job doing after committing a crime, and they aren't removed from society/education), people might be more willing to press charges.
As for beating people down/forcibly taking custody? Eeek. That could be a legal mess, and don't forget about any of those brutality videos that popup on youtube.
Bring on the death penalty for even small crimes. Sure it will seem evil at first, but once people get the idea that the consequences are dire, it won't happen anymore. They do it now because the reward is worth the risk.

When I was working at the Walmart Supercenter on Rufe Snow in North Richland Hills, Texas I was on a register and I saw someone running out the door with some merchandise in hand. So, what I don't get is why you'd encourage a whole slew of anonymous, otherwise ignorant people to steal from a store on the basis said company that owns said store is too corporate, and not fuddy-duddy enough for you're own liking. This is one of the bigger problems with the generation I have, is that all of them have the impatient, activist mentality without a relevant cause to justify it. And being this avante garde will have it's drawbacks somewhere.

umm the walmart that I work at in kansas city, mo doesn't do that, I see people getting caught stealing at least 10 times a month. We have several police officers who are in the building every day. If the asset protection/loss prevention team catches u stealing they stop you at the door with the police officers, and the police officers cuff you up and if u try to resist; they along with the cops will grab you slam you and fuck you up lol and if u run there are cops in police cars waiting outside

I agree with all of what this man is saying, but there is a reason why Walmart does not use any force to stop shoplifting. The multi million dollar law suit filled by a shoplifter that gets hurt while security is attempting to stop he or she is not worth the $ 5 item that is being stolen. @ramos2101 usually only at Christmas time. That is when the store I used to work for would bring in off duty police as security. The guys driving out in the parking lot are only there for the presence to deter crime. However, they are not legally allowed to do anything (unless they are a peace officer or your crime is violent by nature).

Funny story. am 14 and after i saw this video i walked to my local walmart and stole 2 8g flash drives/80$ 1 usb hub/12$ 1 dvd/10$ and i did all of this by just walking out the front door, the security(a old person) yelled at me to stop and i just keeped walking then i walked off into the full parking lot and made it out with 112$ of stuff for free. then went back to the same walmart and did it all again but this time i got 2 xbox 360 games i wanted and a soda and still walked out the front door

Now, you may have got a bargain all of those items through a five finger discount, but the real setback is that you haven't learned a thing in life besides giving into your own impulses. @younfellony no and i even wore the same shoes and hat i wore the last time i was there, if you pay attention to the way its ran. the store does not film all the sections all at one's and its the enploeys job to keep a eye out for people stealing. in the intercom they will make a call marked 873 witch means film and then they will say the section. this means they are recording one section so ones all the security is focused on one section move to the one you want and take shit out the package :)

Walmart doesn't care because they can take the loss. Their company makes $500,000 every minute and if you don't believe me look it up. Also here in California even if you're arrested for shoplifting (which is a misdeameanor) and you have no warrants you're getting out of jail the same day. Our jail and prison system here is so over packed that they can't hold people for misdeameanors anymore. And even if you get sentenced to 180 days you'll only serve 30 max.

It probably has a lot to do with how crazy our laws are, if the laws were more forgiving (e.g. someone could actually get a legal job doing after committing a crime, and they aren't removed from society/education), people might be more willing to press charges.
As for beating people down/forcibly taking custody? Eeek. That could be a legal mess, and don't forget about any of those brutality videos that popup on youtube.
