The question itself is Bid'ah. The Imams never delve in to the How of Allah (subhanehu wa talaa's) Attributes. Here is an example, Imam Malik said, and it is widely quoted by 'ulama of all madhabs:

"The istiwa is known, the how of it is not graspable, iman in it is obligatory and asking about it is a bid'ah." And he had the man who raised the issue ejected from the gathering as an innovator."

تجد ذلك في كتاب منهاج الطالبين وعمدة المفتين للنووي المتوفى سنة 676هـ (ص204)، وغاية البيان شرح زُبد ابن رسلان لشمس الدين الرملي المتوفى سنة 1004هـ (ص247)، والإقناع فى حلّ ألفاظ أبي شجاع للشربيني الخطيب المتوفى سنة 977هـ (ج2/118)، وكفاية الأخيار فى حلّ غاية الاختصار لتقيّ الدين الحصني من علماء القرن التاسع الهجري (ج2/44) وغيرهم كثير.ا
