Being that this dipshit is STANDING ON THE FUCKING RADIATOR, leads me to believe this would've happened whether he was using a titanium wrench or a goddamn banana. Let me catch a mechanic standing on my radiator.....oh wait, I do all my mechanic work myself...would never heppen to me to begin with.
@boochieboy814 He needed to be up on top of the motor like that because the car was on jack stands and the bolt was at the very back of the motor, he couldn't reach from the ground and needed extra leverage as it was a large bolt.
Ya, keep using those cheap foreign tools you boast about and soon only the foreign will have jobs! Part of buying American made tools is keeping us working in the good old USA!
Im not an auto mechanic . I only do Signs for a living. I have used Stanley products before with what I do, and its been my experience they wear out quicker. Signs are no where as heavy duty as working on cars, so if what I do wears out Stanley quicker than the other products Ive mentioned, then the auto world would probably make short work out of them
SnapOn, huh? Its really just a name and sells a lot of limited edition stuff. I love their tool chests, but wouldnt pay car prices for them though. Im satisfied with my Husky and Craftsman stuff. Ive learned to stay the fuck away from Stanley
plain and simple...people that fight for snap on fight for it b/c they are that good..
people that fight for everything else havent held a snap on tool...
SNAP ON IS FOR MECHANICS NOT for little boys tinkering with there cars on the weekend.. you wont get the full use of the tool hence making it the same as all the other brands
@Empire932 indeed. Anyone who has used Snap on tools the way they are intended to be used would know the obvious difference between a snap on wrench and a craftsman.
@Empire932 i agree with you but you also need to try a duralast ratchet theyre almost exactly the same as snap on but theyre like a third the price and they come with the same kind of warranty as a snap on ive had one for about 3 years now and it gets just as much use as my snap ons and it hasnt shown any signs of breaking or wearing out
you can fight all you want. what it comes down to is what you're comfortable and used to. i use a lot of snap on along with craftsman and a few macs. i had a 3/8 drive snapon ratchet blow up on me while i was pulling on it so hard my veins were popping out lol. dealer fixed it right away and i havent had a problem since. there are 3 snapon trucks where i live. one mac and one cornwell. my only hate this that i CANNOT stand the handles on mac screwdrivers, they just piss me off.
Honestly all Snap-off has going for them is a marketing campaign.....There tools, are not all made in the USA anymore! Plus anyone with a brain would tell you that their nothing, but an over priced rich mans tool! If it has a Lifetime warranty, may it be gear wrench, mac, craftsman, cornwell, etc... Who gives a Crap!
@vanessa0498 some people use their tools to do REAL work, not sally ass weekend warrior jobs. for people who use tools every day to earn a living, they know why Snap On is the best. Yes some things are ok from others, Mac is usally like 1/3 of the price on socket sets, and the Mac Edge sockets are alot like snap on flank drive plus. If you use your tools only once in a while, chances are you don't know shit about wrenching anyways.
craftsman tools are made for general public use and not attended for technician use as stated by "craftsman"... "craftsman pro" in the other hand are not bad tools, but the most important thing is who the heck want to drive to sears to replace a broken tool. Or when u need that tool right NOW, I'm sure Ur not going to drive to sears.. point is snap on and matco come to you!!! that's the important part to me.. and i have personally tried matco
and they are heavy, bulky and not as strong, the odd part is that majority of there tools are more expensive than snap on..so bottom line i can call snap on right now and i know he will come over to the shop and save my ass when i need a tool, also there customer service and no question warranty keeps me a returning customer . it also makes we wonder why there is 10 snap on driver in my city with only 2 matco drivers..i have a snapon MR BIG krl1065 i haven't complained yet on there tools
aero space grade? wha does that even mean? im a aviation mech and idk what that even means in a tool. if you really want to get down to it the toosl ment to work on the sr-71 were "aerospace grade" because they had to be made out of titanium to avoid corrosion of the airframe. and any more everything is "forged" or dropforged its so easy to do. and if you want to talk aerospace grade tell me when you get back from pratt and whiteny or ge then we will talk
Snap-on has tools that meet US gov. Aerospace and/or Military specs.
Their High Performance wrenches for example are made with higher quality steel and tighter specs resulting in less weight and smaller wrench head diameters to fit in tighter places.
Snap-on provided the US with tools for WWII. You can still find them. They have an E or G stamp on them indicating they were made for the war effort. Snap-on may confiscate them if shown to a dealer.
We have a ton of tools in the Marine Corps motorpool and not many of them are Snap-On. In fact most are Matco, SK and Craftsman, come to think of it the only tools that are Snap-On are the ones the other companies dont make.
i been turing wrenchs longer than most of you have been alive, and i didnt do it buying over priced tools like snapon. i enjoy spending my money on other things in life like my life.save your money guys, your making your boss and snapon tools rich save a little for yourself,
I belive as a aviation mechaninc who uses strictly craftsman. I can safely say that I like my tools just as much as the rest of them. if you want to say that snap on is the best than apparently you havent seen matco. sure the finish is nicer and they are nice tools but ultimatly ill pick my tools every time. if you want to come in here and voice your oppinion dont down someone elses. ill outwrench you in a heartbeat with my c man. so go on with your snap off and bother someone else
@NightGod07 i ve threw alot of snapon away over the years they suck,i too use matco, sk ,craftman not so much,i amjust glad to rid of snapon, cost way to much,
Snap on tools are the best. They are prone to failure like anything. They are by far the best. Was the the mechanic using the right tool for the job? Was it being used correctly? Also the wrench wasn't shown it could have been modified or damaged previously due to improper use!!!
Did the wrench break well you can't tell maybe it slipped but is the mechanic stupid to be standing in the engine bay like he is... Yes, thats your own stupidity there.
@mister2nr The wrench broke. He was standing up there because the car was on jacks and he needed the leverage. Not to mention a forged $45 Snap-on wrench shouldn't have broken.
@mister2nr aman to that lol the bolt will brake long before the wrench does lol i have have a 17 bolt that was taking off add a 30 inch pipe on there and the wrench did not even bent lol the
i dont know that i really blame the wrench but if you are going to put that much torque on a bolt maybe its time for impact? idk im a craftsman guy and if i have to put much more than heavy hand pressure on a wrench that bolt isn't coming lose. or perhaps the mechanic was being dumb and using a ratchet as a breaker bar? idk either way i blame th mech not the tools
i dont know of many bolts in that part of an engine bay that you would need an impact for. But who cares just use the impact whenever you can it so much fun. I have a lot of Craftsman and Husky tools myself.
@DARKSCOPE001 It was a Snap-On 12 mm Flank Drive wrench. It was in a small location not appropriate for a breaker bar, nor was it a large bolt that should have been torqued that much. That tool should have been able to hold up to the pulling he was doing with it..especially for being a $45 wrench.
