It's because there isn't enough fanservice and the episodes are too deep for most people to comprehend.

Now, if Ginko was half-naked a majority of the time and smirked sensually, and all the other characters were all "kawaii" and things like that, this would be a big hit. Hahahaha

We are just the select few who care not for fanservice nor simplicity in anime.

I was actually being a smart ass in my response, purposefully.

However, from what I have observed... the anime series' that usually DO get the most attention are those that cater to fanservice and have simplistic storylines and loopholes.

But there are always exceptions, of course.

@klaytonrocks Funny cause I like both this and HSoD, my repertoire also go through Captain Harlock, Rémi, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, Wings of Honneamise, Astro, Renuki Kenshin, Berzerk, DNA², Trigun, Cowboy Beebop, Princess Mononoke, Baka and test, Hajime no Ippo, Slayer, Nodame Cantabile...

I can continue for much longer then that, basically I am all over the place and been watching anime since I was 3 and a time where fansub were diffused on vhs where you could still see Japanese pub.
