I'm no expert but I think its really interesting stuff. I read that the term Tangata Whenua was originally used to describe non-maori. @roodbass tena koe! back again :D from what i know, all were 'early maori' and early polynesian settlers. we all know that waka were hanging around prior to Kupe and the great migratrion. am no expert either lol but from the stories of my hapu, there was a people being here "always". probably remnants of the aboriginals when we still joined to Australia having stayed on the land when we broke off, meaning this true "tangata whenua" probably existed for 60, 000 years! interesting for sure! :D

From what scientists have gathered so far, the oldest human remains to be discovered in Aotearoa only date back to 1000yrs. However given the lack of scientific evidence to support an earlier civilization, I remain open minded.. please keep me updated on your theory if you find anything.
