  • long live the kane

  • Funky drummer beat + simple guitar riff sample + BDK's freshest lyrics = the true essence of hip hop

  • I listened to this song in the zone and I realized that this is why I like rap music. Back in the days when this came out I thought it was the greatest of all times and now realize that its still relevant. Nas is the only real rapper that came out of that era. but with predecessors like BDK I see why. By the way this song is 5.24 minutes of pure unadulterated lyrics. Awesome.Big Daddy Kane is a Savant.

  • one of the greatest mcees of all time only rakim is better

  • GOT DAYUUUMMMM!!! i almost forgot GET EM KANE, GHOST must be his god son, How ya like me baby, Apollo Kids

  • what's the name of that guitar sample in this track?

  • @orlanduce

It's a sample taken from a song entitled "I Get Lifted" by KC and the Sunshine Band.

  • @apocalypso143 which was later also taken by Notorious BIG for his song "Respect"

  • Kane said that Chuck D and PE inspired him to do a track like this with the squealing effects, Lil Wayne, drake or Jay Z have nothing on Kane

  • Damn Kane was not to be @$@%$@ with!

  • I just played this for the first time and just sat back and listened to is. I was just completely blown away. Kane. One of the very best to touch the mic.

  • He goes so hard on this song! Don't need to say more then that!

  • On of the best BDK songs ever!!! I love the warning shot he gave to emcees " I don't have beef no other perfomer/keep to myself never other another/any rapper try to diss I'll crush the mutha...

  • Diamond D Raised In Forest, Rapper Tries To Diss I Crush The Motherfucker.

Diamond D Used Big Daddy Kane Sample.

  • Did Biggie used a slowed down version of the bass for Respect?

    And fuckin sweet song.

  • @YungChiHung

Yes and no, BDK used a sample of "I Get Lifted" by George McCrae, and Biggie used a sample of "I Get Lifted" by KC And The Sunshine Band.

both songs share the same title and have obvious similarities because McCrae was involved in the making of both.

Also "Only You" by 112 with Biggie also uses the same sample

  • Big Daddy Kane is one of the fathers of Golden Age and pioneers of modern day Hip Hop. He created many original rhymes and punchlines, and his skill/technique is comparable to Rakim Allah. Definitely top 5-10 Emcees. (BDK is 5th best for me) Rza of Wutang says BDK is on his top 5.

" I seize and freeze emcee's with these degrees,

put me to my knees, or at ease, child PLEASE."

These two lines have more rhymes than a whole song from today's trash pop music.

  • This song made me step up my rap game, back in the day! Kane was a true MC and todays tryers, better be glad that they didn't have to go up against him! There would be no (not saying nothering rap) only true hip hop!

  • beat sounds just like biggie smalls "respect"

  • Make ya say daddy I don't want none! Mister Cee cut that joint up crazy! Classic Material. True hip-hop!

  • Classic!!!!!

  • LOL kane had mortal combat even before the game came out, weird!

  • He's spittin crazy right here.

  • I remember when my brother brought this record home. I was done. I wrote down every word just so I could be the first to memorize it so I could rap it at school.

  • hr sampled kool moe dee's let's go it said daddy i don't want none

  • And to think that Hip Hop at this time was denounced. But 20 years later, those same people who clowned this music have a new-found appreciation for it now, especially when we're at the mercy of such artists like Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Gucci Mane

  • my favorite kane song...he goes hard on this one..long live the kane

  • uuuhhh real inspiration for notorious.

  • Fools at my college say this song is annoying because its old and the noise at the beginning. There all dick heads who dont know what real music is.

  • that "noise" man they're trippin! they have no idea!!

  • Do me a favor and throw them a cassette of "Long Live the Kane" at their heads as hard as you can! Then they might hear how classic BDK is!

  • looool. i do i got this album on my phone and keep playing it too them and they just get angry and pissed. the music they like is that devil worshiping heavy metal where the singers sound like dogs and all that new bullshit with the synth on there voices and throught the songs. i hate that style of music. its a shame they dont know the genious of the Kane

  • @royalefreshness you get that with most people aged around 18 these days, they'll completely switch off to older music - just because its old!

  • @royalefreshness I'm 13 and I hate Lil Wayne. You can thank my parents. I'm actually a producer myself

  • @royalefreshness , I used to play this on my radio show in college! They don't know real rap in its rarest and true form! I used to have to bleep out the cussing, but I know the song so well, because real hip hop is what I gotta hear! Peace to you and maybe someday, they will come around!

  • @LGKids Haha dont make me laugh they will never come around but that wont stop me playing it around them i dont care its for my pleasure only if they dont like it tough. This is music at it fullest and best fuck nowadays and that heavy metal bullshit with the barking dogs with throat cancer

  • @royalefreshness , peace Royal and forget them and all that don't understand!

  • @royalefreshness that is the noise I love :O

  • @royalefreshness fuck them, Big Daddy is the shit

  • @royalefreshness haha i think the noise at the beginning is the best part

  • the real god mc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This would be good for a Mortal Kombat music video. :p

  • and this came out way b4 the video game

  • @grooveey Well yeah because there's a C instead of a K.

  • Damn why did Kane have to rip it like this? Hands down the hardest he ever came. I always wanted him and Rakim to battle in there hey-day

  • kane would have gave it to him!!!!!!!!!!

  • this was the s*it...i wore this "lp" out....

  • My 13 yr. old son and his friends were talking about how great a rapper Lil Wayne is. I told him how much he sucks and then pulled out this cassette and played Mortal Combat for them. their little wanna be hard asses were floored. They had no comment, just what I thought!! Long Live the Kane!!

  • @casualuser08

you're a good parent, ahah, right onn

  • @casualuser08 they can't like this...its just out of their time :(

  • @casualuser08 I done shut up some of these youngsters myself with this cut, Raw, and Aint No Half Steppin. You're Right " Long Live The Kane"!!!! These busters today can't carry Big Daddy Kane's jock strap.

  • @casualuser08 AWESOME! Im 14 in middle school and i got friends who are Lil Wayne and drake fans ima use this song next time i try to tell them they suck.

  • @casualuser08 I can relate to this type of situation. Just about every kid in my highschool listen to hip-hop/rap. They always talk about how Lil' Wayne is the best rapper. I will cut into the middle of the conversation and say no he's not he's whack. I'll pick an old school hip-hop rapper and say that they are the best. Then my friend will say but listen to this song he did man its crazy. I'm just like, well have u heard this song, then I shut them down by just playing old scool hip-hop songs!

  • long live the kane!

  • Love this song, can you upload Another Victory? I tried uploading Young, Gifted & Black, it's up currently but I struggled to avoid WMG's annoying ass and the copyright infringement crap.

  • Done.

  • KANE RIPPED IT

  • Awesome!
