  • One of my all time favorite songs...love David Gates, his voice gives me goose bumps...Bread rocks!

  • * * * * *

  • your lovin' and affection, givin' me erec..., er givin' me direction.

  • This is pop song writing/arranging/playing/singing at its finest. It really was a golden age of rock song--probably not repeatable.

  • Does anyone know where this video came from?

  • This is an excellent video, but the sound is off. You probably can't help that.

  • Wow - I actually had sex with my girlfriend while this was playing.

    Such memories!!

  • I love this songs, it's like make love

  • This song was 40 years ago no.7 in the world charts #bread

  • this song was born a year before i do. but i've always been a fan of david gates either as a solo artist or with his band bread. i started collecting their albums when i feel that crazy little thing called love :-) from cassette tape era, to cd, mp3s and up to my current ipod and phones i have their song selections!

  • thanks for the upload... Pure talent!!! great memories

  • Oh, goodness. The tags on this song. xD

  • love this song!!

  • Gorgeous song !

  • cool!

  • so was it black people who made up contraction "i'ma" or this guy?

  • 16 sad, lost souls.

  • Real Music. Not the eclectic-hip hop crap you got nowadays. Somebody please answer this: Did David Gates and Bread do a reunion CD or DVD? I heard Mr. Gates is the lone living member of the group.

  • @78imua I believe they recorded a few shows from the 96/97 tour but were sadly never released. And also original member Robb Royer (who Larry Knechtel replaced after their third album) is still active in the music industry, based in Nashville.

  • hey sparkleslightning here. This reminds me of my high school years. Graduated in 1975. Beautiful song and beautiful memories. love it.

  • My favorite line- " You're the only one I care enough to hurt about "

  • love you sweet

  • Where is David Gates? I mean is he still alive? There's no news ...

  • @dannybuntu - David Gates has his own active cattle ranch outside of Redding CA.The Tulsa native has owned this property some 40 years. Other than Robb Royer who was an early member of Bread, he is the sole survivor of this group @ 70 years old.

  • @manthony1956 Thank you dear sir. He must be 70+ years old now. You know his songs are well loved here in the Philippines. I think that if he went here on a tour he'd probably make a killing on tickets alone. But at 71, I guess he's resting now.

  • @dannybuntu I will try to find out if he is still doing any touring. We had an expose on him and his ranch in the local newspaper, and he was doing some touring then. That must have been ten years ago. There are many actors and musicians who have retired to the rural areas of California, especially the mountains. The local people generally respect their privacy and do not disturb them, but we get many tourists.

  • @manthony1956 an expose? oh my.. are you a journalist sir? that would be much appreciated. im 29 and was not really born in the bread generation but you know, his music resonates even to our generation.

  • @dannybuntu Thank you, but no, not any longer. I was a journalism major but did not complete my degree. I have not written anything for a newspaper for 20 years. I went into radio, but left after 5 years. Loved both jobs, but was raising a family. I have followed David Gates as a fan for 40+ years.

  • @manthony1956 I have a "Cowboy" cookbook with several of David's recipes in it!!!

  • Where is David Gates?

  • bread was the shit...!!!!!

  • I love, love, love this song!! It makes me almost cry every time I hear it...I would be putty in this guy's hands! LOL

  • Love bread. Truly magical

  • @TurKFXI ,hi..yes me too..they are true pure class

  • David Gates forever...awesome hits...

  • An awesome talent , that was severly under-appreciated !!

  • 5 Stars !

  • fucking fuck fuck

  • One of my top favorite songs. Such sweet voice...

Just love melodic ballads with soft guitars...

  • David gates know how the heart works.

  • Don't get me wrong, I like ballads; It's just that some like some power in them, for which, I'm one. Moreover, some people would blame Bread for inspiring the music industry fot wanting acts like Justin Bieber in it. As for the tune, it's OK, but just OK. OK?

  • @kja427 Go away and shut up..... Sorry, but please dont ever dis' Bread like that again, ok? ...OK??????

  • What a song and what a band. Tremendous.

  • 15 idiots

  • This is a great song by Bread, I just created a video for Diary, check it out, youtube.com/watch?v=uhlYY-CxRAM

  • Saw these guys in 1972 live at Mc Cormicks Place Chicago---$6.00. Took my present wife---but I also had tickets for Niel Diamond. I wanted to get in the pants of both, but thought it would take Niel to get in the other girl's!

  • Wow this song still makes me cry,I grew up listening to this;My oldest brother loved it and I do as well.It also takes me back to the day when he was still with me! I MISS YOU WADE!

  • LOVE IT!!

    5X5 Stars!!

    Matt

  • LOVE IT!!

  • i was only a year old when this song came out but my dad sings it all the time..........used to think my life was just emotions passing buy......

  • Genius...Just simply genius...

  • Simple, straight to the point. Beautiful.

  • They just don't make music like they use to. This is one song I just can't hear enough of. We have way to much violence in this country anymore. Why can't there be peace and love?

  • what's that thing on his head?!

  • Great music great band

  • strange ending!

  • Great song

  • I heard this song first time from 'Stuck on You' movie. Just a little piece of the song in the movie I heard, but it made me impressive.

It's very very nice song. Thank you much.

  • I love Bread....they made these songs while I was just a very small child, but I absolutely love them...these songs make me emotional. Their music is some of the greatest ever!!!

  • such a great song and i love the lead vocalist voice******.

  • Unforget Bread... they still made my life better...

  • Much better than the CRAP they call music today!..what ever happened to this guy?.

  • @12dave9 AGREED!!! This music will live in infamy.

  • @12dave9 There was a lot of crap back them, too. Those songs just didn't last past their release date.

  • @12dave9 Amen brother!

  • MB + LM 1974

  • Listen Radio Música para Mimos (Search in Google ) The best songs of love

  • Baby, I.m a want you too! Bring back this beautiful music!

  • Baby Love ,I really want you...

  • Love it! Love Bread!

  • I would have to agree with HAENDELL (4 mths ago) , David Gates as a singer song writer has produced some of the most enduring love songs ever written. He is a world class hopeless romantic singer-song writer. More than 38 years on and their music is still awe-inspiring, can you say that about todays so called music..I think not!

  • Simply the best!!!!!

  • THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!

  • i had to sign in this song was so fkn good

  • Ah, essa vozinha de David Gates parece uma canção de ninar...! Doce, suave...!Linda!

  • SMO

  • Simplesmente, UM CLÀSSICO

  • So good. Excellent song.

  • I grew up listening to bread and their songs always meant love and needing the one most dear being close to you and i agree with that greatly!!!!!!Without someone to love or that you care about deeply.......then what is life?????...Its Nothing.......Love keeps us all living and looking forward to what comes :-)

  • Local moms are alone do you need to meet them naneedj.info

  • the ultimate love song !

  • i faund this cassette with life time 1971 songs and I say, i will hear it and man this song came on and now s one my favorites. songs like this you don't hear them in the redio any more ... why? ....... they are special...

  • @01Astek Welcome to the 70's ! A very special time, full of amazing songs . Keep exploring the era,you will find the best music, ever. Enjoy ,my friend.

  • thanks soooo much xx

  • I had no idea that this song would help me through my darkest hours. My wife died on June 23, 2010. These songs give me hope. They give me the power to carry on. Peace and Hope be with you all.

  • Love this song. Takes me back to my Army days as a young soldier at Old Park Barracks, Dover, 1971-1973.

  • this song brings back so many memories of me.a song of yesteryears

  • Anyone wanna go ice skatin' ?

  • killer!

  • James Douglas "Jim" Morrison (December 8, 1962~+~+*

  • Amazing song! So good to listen to even today ....

  • great artist a true poet

  • me encanta esta canción!!! su letra es muy linda y muy romántica....

  • david gates has such a soft and wonderful voice

  • Baby, I'm A Want Bread's Music !

  • shuks valin...u struck a cord..!!

  • After signing Bread, Paul Rothschild, of Elektra Records, was happy to sign a newer and much more mellow lead singer with Jim Morrison and the Doors. Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Ma.

  • I remember sitting by the stereo console in sixth grade and listening to this lp again and again- this was my favorite album for a very long time... and all these years later I still looked it up on you tube...hmmm love your music, David Gates - nice job!

  • Lindo demais!!!

  • For Bro Kev.....A moment in time.

  • 1. We used to call Bread the "Kings of M.O.M." (make-out music)

    2. The guy playing lead guitar and sitting while he's playing...same trait as Jeff "Skunk" Baxter from Steely Dan and Doobie Brothers....could that actually be Skunk...? I wasn't aware he had ever performed live with Bread.

  • @GooglelyTube Isn't it Robb Royer??

  • @Coowallsky - Yeah, you're probably correct. It just looked alot like Skunk, especially sitting while playing.

  • @GooglelyTube I had to smile so much when I read your comment about

M.O.M. So very true and still a wonderful time and the perfect music to

" do it" to. How do the kids today enlive that one wonderful moment to RAP music?

It seems rather out of sync. But that is only my personal opinion. Kind regards to you.

  • @GooglelyTube It's a guy named Dean Parks, who played lead guitar with Bread on tour from around 1976-1978.

  • "only one I care enough to hurt about..." how many of us know that feeling too well?

for me it's going on years....

  • @SacMyk dont start me 32 years 6 children hate the man ,love the children ,wish it was better but he wont even try .

  • They sure dont make songs like David's anymore. They are all precious, true words from the heart. Where are these men now! These are the kind of songs that we can listen to anytime, anywhere.

  • Remember cordoroy pants!? Same deal......

  • The true test of a good song is the test of time.. Does the song still make you feel the emotion it was written to evoke... If the answer is yes, well its still rocking!

  • @pinkdragon8181 fuKKS SAKE WHERRES ALL THE TOTTY BITCHES AND THAT?

AINT NO FAST CARZ IN thS VID

    GAYS

    DIKKED

  • @pinkdragon8181 I can close my eyes & im instantly back in Better & simpler Place ,more Morals kinder words & I thought I was a wild one with an authority Problem back then ,But seems like there was a lot more RESPECT back THEN

  • I was 16 when this song was popular. Bread was one of my all time favorite groups and still is! It brings back so many memories! Tks for posting this. Where in the world do you find these oldies but goodies to post?

  • timeless classic. one of my favs

  • i grew up listening to these songs with my brother playing the guitar. I was not able to memorize the lyrics but the melody of the song never fails to touch me and keep me teary eyed.

  • THIS ARE POEMS WITH MUSIC...DAVID GATES KNOWS HOW TO DO IT....JUST LISTEN TO THE MANY HITS HE GOT...THIS IS THE REAL MEANING OF SOMEBODY CALLED AN ARTIST...I DON'T KNOW ANY SINGER TODAY SINGING ANY SONG WITH THIS TOUCH, WITH THIS REACH...NO DOUBTS, A DIFFERENT GENERATIONAL MUSIC ERA EXIST....WHILE 30 OR 40 YEARS AGO, SONGS WERE TALKING ABOUT LOVE, TOGETHERNESS, LIFE, AND MORE LOVE; TODAY'S SONGS ARE ABOUT BEATING THE CRAP OUT OF YOUR BITCH, ETCETERA.

  • Excellent coment, its true, the classics like this are poems, there isnt another word to describe this music, very romantic, lyris written from the deep of the heart of the people that write them.

  • @HAENDELL lol, you look soooo much on the overrated things :) so much underrated things people enjoy SECRETLY :)

  • @HAENDELL You are so correct. Of course, back in the early 70's, it just made sense for the music to focus on the things you listed. This country has been on a downward spiral for a while. I wonder how much of the problem is changing demographics. In any event, I can't believe how the people have bought into this culture. We glorify people like Howard Stern, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and Dennis Rodman. How can a show like Jerry Springer survive.

  • @HAENDELL John Mayer.

  • @HAENDELL AMEN, Bread my favorite band of all time...and the 70's best time ever for music to live etc.... its all down hill from there. they had true talent not like now where you can put anyone in a studio.

  • love this,

  • Thank you Laurie!

  • Its so nice to hear part of the past once in awhile.

    I miss this somtimes.

Thanks for getting it to me.

  • To Sara

  • One of the greatest love ballads of all time.

  • @stanibol Agreed

  • Baby, I,m a want to buy a Bread DVD! But I can't find! WHY!!!

Think about the worst artist or band you know, and you can find a DVD to buy.

But there's no Bread DVDs...WHY! WHY! WHY!

I love 70's music and Bread is my favorite band.

    Thanks!

  • RECUERDOS BELLOS .

    QUE MÚSICA.

    BESOS.

  • hi there,i love bread since i was in high school,i wish i could see thereconcert tour.is there aschedule in japan?

  • Bread has been my most favorite band since I learnt to listen to pop music. Songs like this, Everything I own, Diary, Sweet Surrender have the everlasting melody and fine voice.

  • Nothing will ever replace the music of our era!! I like some of the new stuff, but always relate and return to classic rock!!

  • David Gates looks a little like Mickey Mouse. Sounds a little like him too.

  • someone once told me that bread´s drummer wanted to play something heavier and ended up frustrated, but i think bread had that beat that makes you wanna dance with your girl all night and they´ll be remembered for that.

  • They nearly named the band Sesame Seed Buns but went with Bread instead.

I wonder if they ever opened for Meatloaf.

  • A Class Act and what a melody...too bad they don't write them like today!

  • Hey I haven't seen the wizard of oz lately are the munchkins on welfare? are their little bastard kids beneath every one else? do they grow up to be helpless oz welfare bums hmm, sounds like you munchkin.

  • Wow you have such a gift for phrases ,you stinky ,uneducated skank ! quit shitting out idiot bastards for welfare to look after, you gross fucking pig .

  • @ big dope you misguided loser you suffer from only one thing , being a white trash piece of dirt with sub standard tastes and a mother that gives 25 cent blow jobs, I hear she charges you a buck lol

  • If hungry people waited to ask they would starve, some times it is important to educate even useless pedophiles like you, you have no taste., and need guidance loser.

  • I love this Bread.....And tom ....hmmmm I guess apparently I am supposed to love tom too...Happy Birthday Tom!!

  • douchebag? what has your mother got to do with it ?

  • Yes I too love you Tom !!

  • @jsilence418 Do you have a life???? I DON"T THINK SO!! Sounds like you have nothing better to do then sit here and make comments.,..AND THIS IS A CANADIAN GIRL KICKIN YOUR FUCKIN ASS!!!!!

  • @munckin56 Dont worry about jsilence....He is no doubt a mummys boy with a two inch dick trying very much to look hard...& actually coming out of it looking like the freak he is! I reckon he must have been dropped on his head by his trailer trash parents when he was very young?.....He really should get a girlfriend I suppose .....but no doubt with his rampant acne & extra fingers on each hand he is having trouble attracting anything better than crackhead whores?

  • @jsilence418 are you on planet earth???

  • @jsilence418 noone asked you douche bag

  • Not one asked you PUD! Try a little more silence like your name numbnuts!!!!!

  • @jsilence418 see you still attention seeking!......your life must be pretty empty?.....shall I ask about & see if I can find you a boyfriend to spend some time with to occupy your obviously troubled mind?

  • i love you tom

    happy b day

  • Although BREAD started out slightly psychedelic (68-70) they found their groove as a slickly produced and glittery (literally!) soft rock band.

  • Love it, I used to listen to this song when I was in my twenties. Love bread

  • love it :)

  • hippies are lazy complainers

  • @zebraflex We stick together on that.

  • Bom demais...

  • Inmortal.

  • such a beautiful song!
