First off.. when did americans overall know how to drive a manual, all you do is automatics, secondly, if you really are driving an manual gearbox car and it stalls, why don't you just put small gear in and drop the clutch....
How stupid do you have to be to have to watch a video on what to do when a car stalls. If a drives stick and does not know what to do when a car stalls, they should just stay in the kitchen....
if you stall press the clutch down and start the car, make sure gear is in 1st and start driving like you normall would. No point in going from 1st to neutral and clutch in at same time then start then neutral to 1 with clutch in its a waste of time. Neutral = not connected to engine, clutch down = no connected to engine. Both = waste of time
@ItsMrWinters If you stall the car while moving just downshift, the momentum of the car should start it for you. My friends battery died and didn't have the money to replace it right away. So he always parked it on a hill to do a rolling start.
i thinks it good to know how to drive a manual. if you're looking for a car it doesn't limit you to just auto and there's many other benefits such as clutch starting.
I just got a 1991 Ford Explorer and it was working fine until it got to an intersection and without warning died. Pressed the clutch and turned the key and click.... nothing. Voltage seemed very low and AAA diagnosed the starter to be the culprit. I don't see how it could be the starter since it did start after leaving the parking lot. I was honestly hoping to see what could be the problem to my vehicle. Anyone that knows where a video please tell me on here it would be greatly appreciated.
really? if something happens and my car stalls while im driving, its usually in a downshift coming to a red light or something. That alone rarely happens, only if my work shoes are extremely greasy or something. Then while im still rolling i push the clutch, start the car, and rev/gear match to adjust.
i stalled too many times in the past 3 days. First time was in the middle of the Highway center lane in the middle of rush hour. This was due to a coolant host being cut, and all my coolant flooding out. 2nd time happened 24hrs later after I fixed my cooland prob. It stalled going up a damn hill, luckily some nice people helped me, and rigged my radiator fan straight to the battery so it will cool down my radiator. I HATE MY CAR!
I am not sure. Considering that she is from North America, it is pretty amazing that she drove a manual transmission.l She also looked like she knew what she was doing.
If your car stalls while driving it's usually because of some failure, so you can't start it again.

@MicraHakkinen This wont work on 99% of cars because of the clutch safety switch. Clutch has to be down to start. Old service trucks sometimes have no safety. My 88 k5 im swapping to manual wont have it either just for this reason.
@JL157 Perhaps that's a difference between US and Europe, I have only ever seen clutch safety switches on a few motorbikes, although most of them just have to be in neutral to start (just like cars with automatic transmission). Every manual transmission car I've ever driven could be started in gear without using the clutch.
@MicraHakkinen Wow. Thats unexpected, and interesting. Iv never seen anything besides large commercial trucks that does not have clutch safety. Even ALL lawn mowers and lawn tractors cannot be started unless the clutch is down.
Must be the laws here for all the jackasses that cant drive. Of course autos have the neutral safety, and manuals heres have the little extra button/lever on the collum to release the key in manual vehicles. Do yall have this as well?
you are actually supposed to put the handbrake on if you are stopped and going into neutral to stop your car from flying forwards if someone hits you/
well, if an automatic stalls, then chances r something is wrong with ur car, and its not just a driver error. in case it does happen, turn on your hazard lights, and try to get out of the way of traffic as quickly as you safely can.
i say stick for anything except luxury cars. even economy cars r much better with manual. you get more out of the measly power, and you get better fuel economy.
i usually dont keep it in gear when starting the engine, but i think thats just a random habit. one thing ive tried is putting it in a gear that will rev to around 3k RPM at the current speed, then popping the clutch. itll start the engine right up =D. stupid, but fun.
What rock are you living under? I beleive at least 50% of cars are stickshifts. Why? Because they are better and 100000 times more fun to use, automatics are made for old people. Mostly in America. Fuck automatic! And yes i've tried all of them, automatic is boring as fuck! you can't play around with them. well yeah, pretty much any car out there will have manual standard, but thats actually only because manual is cheaper, so they can advertise a lower starting price for the car. i know someone who recently bought a new manual vw rabbit, and they had to import it from out of state, because every dealership here only had autos. and i thought you meant by the cars using manual, they they only offered manual.
I think she needs to wear a couple more braclets.

pepene93 1 year ago 2
@Gb755c thats technically not possible because it takes human error to stall it, but its possible.
but odds are it won't, i've only had a car stall on me once, and it was in a plymouth van from 90's and i was using it to get some work done.
but if it does, somethings severly wrong. could be that a pipe busted or theres a bloackage in your engine or your transmission is damaged.
in older cars i guess its cool, but in new cars not really as cool.
in either case, get it repaired ASAP.

well yeah, pretty much any car out there will have manual standard, but thats actually only because manual is cheaper, so they can advertise a lower starting price for the car. i know someone who recently bought a new manual vw rabbit, and they had to import it from out of state, because every dealership here only had autos. and i thought you meant by the cars using manual, they they only offered manual.
