  • ur amazing

  • Very nice, i realy want learn it!

You can do a short tutorial?

  • i really apreciate this tutorial thanks !

  • wow

  • thinx you i need it this can you add more video like this pl

  • hey dude. did u go to a collage to learn this? if so. which collage? :3 im almost old enough to go id RLLY like to know ^^ wb

  • @bbbmx1: Hi! I got started with 3D when i attended university 2003-2006. But most of the things shown in this particular video are things that i've learned on my own time, outside of school. The things shown here aren't very complicated overall, so i'm sure that if you want to, you can achieve similar results. For more indepth tutorials, i recommend checking out the youtube channel of smyton4tw .

  • @wartwartx aaahhh ^^ thank you. and gratz on being able to go university :3

  • @wartwartx kk ^^ btw. uhm. later when ur done with school/job/sleep stuffs :3 do ya recon u could explain better how u cut around charicters. and what program u used to make smoke move and stuff? i wasnt to clear on it XD

  • @bbbmx1: Unfortunately I don't have time to do any tutorials. But as for cutting around characters, i don't do this. I draw them from scratch in Photoshop, it's just a matter of working with layers, nothing advanced. As for making the smoke move, i draw each individual frame of the smoke sequence in Photoshop, then simply import those frames as an image sequence into After Effects or Premiere.

  • @wartwartx ooohhh :3 ty

  • i like ur expression of the air

  • O.K i get that but what is up wit people having the same videos as others?! i mean if it aint ur shit or at least didn't get permition to use them then don't it on right?

I'm not referring to you, i'm referring to others

  • hmm for the background could i just use simply adobe photoshop CS3 when I am animating in Adobe flash CS3 ?

    Please reply

  • @WiggyRap: Sadly a full-time job as well as involvement in different projects leaves me with little to no time for making a more in depth tutorial, although the things i did were all pretty basic so to speak

  • Great! Whats the name of this Programm? its great :-)

  • você é muito show cara, o resultado é muito legal, parece ser um pouco difícil mas ajuda bastante, com os nomes dos programas ^^

  • Hey man very very good.

May i ask but what progam do u use to make this???

  • well i believe that the programs used are listed in the actual video. But basically i used Maya, After Effects and Photoshop to make it.

  • cool, i use blender to make mine, its just like maya. i use it to make beyblades 3d and use photo shop to animate

  • CurtisGproductions: Ahh yes, I've never used Blender personally. I've heard some people complain about the user interface in Blender, but on the other hand the software is free, which is not the case with Maya

  • Yh thats the good thing about it,, do u think that you could make a bit more dept tutorial it would help alot.

and could u sub me please

  • when you do next video about naruto?

  • Very very nicely looking, somehow its even looking better with the 3D animation then in the serie.

Though Naruto is falling on his head. :D

    5/5, fav and sub.

Wish i could do such animations. ^.^

  • Thanks.. since the camera is far away in that particular scene you can easily get away with using a low-detail 3d character without it being very noticable. But of course since it is still a 3d character it's way easier to get smooth animation compared to having a 2d character

  • e det svårt och skugga t.ex. naruto på 2:40?

  • Nope, väldigt lätt

  • ok men du jag såg en av dinna kompisars video om ett program som hete adobe CS4. vad är skilnaden på den och CS3?

  • AHHHHHHH INSPIRED TO ANIMATE!!!! I'm glad i came across your page :) This smmer should've been used to further develop my understanding of MAYA, but like a idiot i spend it doing jack shit to do with animation (was still partially constructive haha) indeed 3D does make the process of making background less of a hassle in 2D, i think it's time i dusted my skills off for it before i start my Final Major.

    thanks for the inspiration :)

  • that's great becaus you have 10-20k fans and i keep checking your youtube profil to see new video's ^^

  • wartwart im your fan from when you made video with sasori 2 years ago!

could you make new 3d naruto animation please!

    your good at this!

    do it for your fans!

  • Hi! :)

Well I have been working on and off on a new one.. but since about 4 months back i have a full-time internship as well as a part-time job.. As such I have not had much time for any personal projects :( However I'm hoping that things will settle down a bit soon so that I can spend more time making cool videos again :)

  • Gah Iv only just begun to start using maya already my mind is confused. The tutorials out there are somewhat terrible. =l I have no clue how you even change the position of the camera or anything -.- but that's what tutorials are for but I cant find any that use it your way. or sumfin <.< lol anyway 5/5 video =[

  • Get used to being confused :) Maya is a pretty complicated piece of software. Basically if you want to do the things i do then you should find out how to move the camera, how to animate the camera, as well as how to connect Image Planes to the camera. I recommend "Digital Tutors" tutorials, they have really great tutorials for maya that make it easier to get into :)

  • this is great but could you make a full tutorial on what you do :)? lol that would be so awesome :O - cause meh has no idea what chu did to get the background n such =F or moving the camera or anything lol.

  • cool

  • your very talented, nice stuff, 5/5

  • thanks, glad you liked it =)

  • yo

    wartwartx

do u need to pay for autodesk maya or is it for free?

  • Maya costs quite a lot of money, unless you're a student in which case you get a pretty massive discount :)

  • a student where?

  • at university and such

  • is there another progam execpt maya that is free and ready to use for naruto animation?

  • i saw ure kakashi's gaiden vid and it rocks but when did rin died?

  • yeah, i love to see how everything comes alive =) & i have a favor to ask, can u show us how u actualy put character move and jump ??? <3 hope u can do this, if u find/have a time arigatoo gozaimasu!! ^ ^

  • Unfortunately I cannot make such a video at this time. Though I can say that I used Autodesk Maya to do it. I made a simple 3d version of naruto and animated the 3d character, because the camera was far away the 3d model did not have to be very detailed. Though if you want a more detailed description feel free to PM me and i'll try to explain better.

  • Thats cool!!! Btw, i like your videos, they are very funny!!!

  • you are a good artist with the computer. you make really good art 2D and 3D. I know that your "movies" are short( like PIXAR) but you really know how to do it. And evn better you teach how to use.

  • Glad you like the videos as well as the making of video =)

  • Comment removed

  • Holy shit, this is awesome!

  • it would look like it would be in a game! THAT'S SOO COOL!

  • i would download that program but i wish that someone would help me which buttons or icons should i click and stuff...maybe if i download it ?would u help me,im still 12 gonna turn 13 so i wish that when i grow up a little i would be familiar with these stuff :) bdw great vids,i really like ur naruto edits (all of them) and thanks for telling how to do it :) 5/5 perfect!

  • Thanks! =3 I learned alot from this!

  • You're very welcome! Glad you found it useful

  • hey once you have created the 3d models is the rest just as simple as makeing them move the way you want?

  • i have 1 question... i've downloaded autodesk maya but when i import images it says:

// Error: The renaming prefix '' contains no legal characters.

    can u help me?

  • I'm not familiar with that problem, but if you try searching for it with google then you will probably find a solution

  • Comment removed

  • that was cool to watch I use them programs to animate as well. all apart from maya I need a better computer for 3d. Have u done any original work?

  • Well I have done some original work, some of it is available here on my youtube page, for example "Island Misadventures " and "untitled 3d clip", i also have a Fable 2 parody clip here which is original work.

  • I love you and your awesome animations!! OMG!! You must be having a very clever brain to do all this on your own! I probably would have taken a generation for doing that!!

  • what you do is amazing. 5/5

  • thanks man :) glad you like the vids

  • this is good but it doesnt expain how you did its like you say something and it appears but its good 5/5 who taught you

  • Yeah this just explains my workflow basically. I would like to put up some detailed tutorials on how to do it, but since I use so many different programs sadly it would take too much time.. I'm self-taught :)

  • kan u teach me please :-)

  • Man , You can be a video game designer /.

  • Well that sure would beat being unemployed most of the time I have to say.. :)

  • Great video and I love the Mac Anu music :3

  • Thanks! And I must say i am a bit suprised about people knowing the .hack music so well.. I pretty much thought the .hack games were pretty niche

  • Some people don't even know about the first four .hack games... Even though they would've played .hack//G.U., it's kinda pathethic (spelling?) actually...

But anyways awesome vid :D And I love the background musics!

  • I'm still lost...maybe when I'm old enough to travel on my own I might visit you so you can train me lol!!!

but i'm serious...unless I have help from others...

  • Well if you do have questions regarding making such videos feel free to message me. Not sure of how much time I have to help, but I could at the very least try to point you in the right direction

  • What program did you use for this?

  • witch programme is it??

  • did you even watch the video?

  • I'm making you my sensei!

  • hehe.. glad you liked the vid =)

  • I'm really slow at this...too bad I don't have the program...

  • awesomely done, peter. it's a very well made video and it makes me wish i had ur skills <3

    annyaonweb/annyausagi (new account, meh -_- )

  • Thanks Annya! :) There is no need for wishing though, at the rate that you are improving I suspect that you will leave me in the dust soon enough, hehe..

Btw what happened to your previous YT account?

  • ^__^ i doubt it, you're great at what u do~

um, i stopped getting mail notifications about 2 weeks ago, from youtube. tried making it work from settings but everything was good and still didn't work. so i thought maybe with a different email address.. so i put another one in.. my old one.. from my suspended account.. it was instantly banned T_T

  • brought it on myself XD

  • Wow that really sucks. I didnt even know it was possible to get suspended like that because of an old e-mail address belonging to a suspended account, hehe..

Anyway good to have you back on YT :) Looking forward to seeing some new stuff from you if you find the time to work on something.

  • happens XD i took a chance, i knew there was that possibility and it went down like that. i'm not even annoyed XD it's fine cause i had all the subs and friends saved in my hotmail mail account in special folders so i'm gonna have everyone back, all my friends and such ^__^

yep, working to bring something better than so far^__^

  • This is a great informative video that lots of people could use. You should do a video on you filming yourself(i mean ur pc screen) creating an animation from a manga step by step. Even if it takes a long time u could split the vid into different parts. Anyway great work XD.

  • Thank you!... As you mentioned this video doesn't show the step by step way of making the videos. Like you said I think it would take a lot of time which is something that I don't currently have much of.

It is especially difficult because I use software like Autodesk Maya and Adobe After Effects which not many anime fans seem to be familiar with, so just explaining how to use these programs would take an incredible ammount of time and effort.

  • WoW thank you so much, great video, u are the best ^^

  • You are very welcome, thanks for commenting

  • You're awesome, can't wait to see a Naruto vs Pein video :P

  • cool

how many time it need to do an naime like this

  • Well I have made 3 fan animations so far (Jiraya Vs Pain, Sasuke VS Itachi and Hatake Kakashi). Each of those fanvideos took 3-4 weeks to make.

I have studied animation a little since about 2003.

  • Wow!! I cant wait for other animated videos from you :D

    Thank you for sharing!

  • Glad you enjoy the videos :) Although I'm not sure right now if I will be making any more anime-fanvideos. I've already spent a lot of time on making those and I would like to explore some other areas of animation for now. Thanks for commenting!

  • wow, HOW do you get all these animation programs? they look really hi-tech(but that's just my opion. i haven't really done any animating[also i don' t know that much about it either], but it looks really fun!)

  • Well I will say that one of the programs i use (Maya) is pretty difficult to get into, but the features in maya that i actually used for making these kinds of fanvideos are not that advanced really.

It is definitely a lot of fun once you start getting the hang of it. You can do a lot of fun things with Maya in terms of animations =) Thanks for commenting!

  • always the pleasure, and thanx 4 the advice! ^ ^

  • this is really interesting... but i think it's too hard to do one myself.. lol

  • plus flash uses megapixels which works much better than normal pixels.

    srry 4 double posting

  • No problem man.. Really? I knew about the onion skin feature, but I had no idea about that megapixels feature. I am actually taking a class in flash right now, So I will try to do something with megapixels =) Thanks for the tip

  • i like flash because it has an onion skin feature so you can draw frame by frame in 2d quyickly

  • The song is of a Game of PS2 xD hack infection? ^^ Nice vd!

  • It sure is! Seem that you know your music =)

  • how long can it take to make a video like the jirya vs pain fight?

  • Its hard to say. For me it took about 4 weeks when I was working with another guy. But I already had experience in working with 3D before that, which helped. If you have not worked with 3D earlier then it will most likely take longer time than 4 weeks.

  • wow. but still i can see it was worth it.

  • do u use auto desk maya

  • yes thats right. I use autodesk maya for doing 3D. I highly recommend it, its a great program

  • Very impressive o.o Godly

  • Damn Wart, I'm jealous! If I had the skills to do 3D like that, Shabane would be on a whole other level. You are the Animation King!

Also, the last shot of 2D Naruto turning into 3D Naruto jumping is genius. Could you recommend some free tutorials for 3D Studio Max? Mostly for 3D elements (Fire, rain, explosions).

  • Glad you liked the video man. Blending 2D and 3D characters can be an excellent time-saver as long as you are careful with your camera placement and plan carefully. I find it suprising that not more people use it.

Hmm I don't use 3D Studio Max personally. But I have found that "Digital Tutors" have really good Maya tutorials, so you might wanna give their 3Ds Max tutorials a try :)

  • oh i understand i was thinking these days how do they make those 3D cameras to move i thought they would have to do a lot of sketches

    thanks

  • You are very welcome, thanks for commenting

  • hmm in the video this seems so easy, n yet, it's so hard...

thanks for the vid. now I'll know where to go if I ever try making things like that ^^

  • says the videos no longer available, has it already been taken down?

  • Probably just some problems with Youtube, I can see the "Making of.." video just fine here, Also I don't see why they would remove a video like that since it's not copyright infringement.

  • oh ok XD

  • dude these vids of urs must take effort, keep the up the good work!

  • Awesome, I'm going to try this out now. I already have Autodesk Maya 08, and After effects. Is that all I need???

  • Well, you also need Photoshop

  • wow ur a master of 3d arts, but just how long does it take u to produce something like say, the itachi vs sasuke fight u made?

  • Hmm... The Itachi VS Sasuke video took me about 3-4 weeks to do from start to finish. The Jiraya VS Pain video took about 3-4 weeks aswell and the same goes for the Kakashi video I made (which was removed from my account for copyright infringement)..

  • That's awesome. I want to learn how to do stuff like that, which is why I'm currently trying to learn how to use 3D Studio Max, it's hard. Still the stuff you do is awesome, don't ever forget that!

One question though, did you make a video using that Naruto scene at the end, because I didn't see it in your videos.

  • Thanks man, glad you liked it. As for the Naruto thing at the end no that wasnt from any of my videos. It was from a short action test I was doing mixing 2D and 3D characters. I actually made some more scenes of that which can be seen in the intro to this "making of" video in some of the small windows if you look very carefully

  • awesome!

  • Yeah. It's not a program that you will "get" within a week or so, it does take a lot of time and patience. But once you start getting the hang of it it's really great

  • really cool, but can i get those program in somkind of store

  • PURE AWESOME

  • Great tutorial!! 5/5 + fav

  • Very helpful and detailed, extreme work. 5/5.

  • Omg O.o Nice

  • that was so cool

  • Very Cool.

How long did it take to learn to use all the programs ?

Cus i am Really interested in how to do short animations like you do .

  • Thanks man

Well that's hard to estimate really. I will say that I have spent a fair amount of time with all of these programs. Maya was by far the most difficult to get into in my opinion because the whole interface and everything is just really confusing the first couple of months.

If you're interested in learning Maya then i highly suggest checking out Digital Tutor's Maya tutorials. Of course you don't have to use Maya, but I at least have found it to be an amazing tool to have :)

  • so you can't just buy them.

  • very nice!!

  • wow!!

  • so good

  • second :D lol nice stuff

  • Cool

  • wow kewl =O
