Songs like this make you wonder or why bother categorizing metal genres. What makes a band a death metal band? Theres nothing death about this song at all besides the heavyness, this might be the most uplifting, inspiring, song I've ever heard. The whole song is just full of melodies and harmonies that make me think about people skydiving, snowboarding, and living life to their fullest. I guess death metal is categorized by the sound of the voice.

NY was different from Florida, and its definitely different in Sweden. The main part about death metal is the voice, most people just adapted to the gore because the first band that came up with "Death Metal" wrote lyrics about horror movies.

No offense, but categories in metal make sense. some subgenres in metal are as different as metal is from tribal music. If you give me three songs to listen to, one being e.g. pagan metal, the second being some nu metal song with people rapping & the third some underground black metal song composed of 2 damn chords, chances are I will still dislike the latter two even though all three are technically "metal". Listening to music would be horribly inconvenient without subgenres.

Im also not one who says after "Clayman" everything sucks. Definitly not. I know "Reroute To Remain" is totally boycotted from the "Old Fans" but actually it was a fuckin masterpiece album. Jester Race and Whoracle have the "originality" and i love that but i like RTR as hell. RTR was way better than Come Clarity or ASOP. Soundtrack album is OK. There are some good songs. Come Clarity has also 1 or 2 "OK" songs but ASOP ....no.

I think the old In Flames sounds more American, than the new stuff. It has a lot to do with their drummer, Daniel, who has this VERY European style. He just loves those hi hats, haha. And even this song, it reminds me of like Eric Johnson a bit into the 2 minute mark.
