He got PART of the reduction we would have had with gov't purchasing power being used to reduce prices (economies of scale) so that was a compromise. Next, he went from single-payer to public option. In single payer the gov't provides everything (Hospitals, doctors, drugs, pays). With public option, it provides an alternate insurance. W/ single payer, private healthcare is llegal, w/public option it remains legal. Yet, no matter what he does, you guys call him commie/Nazi, etc..why compromise?

Having had a pilonidal cyst myself, it is one of the most painful and miserable experiences of my life. Ridge has been an utter failure at everything he's ever done. He was acting all smug on local TV when rumors were going around that McCain might ask him to be a running mate. When it was revealed this was never an option, Ridge said he didn't want the job anyway and privately told McCain that he didn't want the VP position. Yeah, effing right! The reform suggestions are actually designed to address the medicare prblems. Using purchasing power to bring drug prices down is an excellent start. As for Cash for Clunkers, you're going to have to define why it failed, considering the popularity of the program. I suppose you can argue gov't inability all you want, there's always the Apollo Space Program, WWII, the Polio Vaccine, the VA hospitals, etc...As for trust, my paradigm is different...gov't of the people by the people FOR the people

Couple of thoughts. 1)Given that they're playing to the Libs, it needs a grain of salt- in fact it's hard to understand what the mechanism is from PO to SP. If PO fails, we don't get SP. To clarify, I understand what you're saying. But I think thsi is Dem propaganda for the benefit of the progressives and the majority of the country that favors single payer. However, when private insurance competes w/public insurance by lowering prices, then more people will also buy private insurance thus expanding the market. It's a myth that everybody will go over wholesale to public insurance.

I brought it up cuz the big thesis w/Conserv. about healthcare is that we're creeping towards Stalinism or something. What's causing the problems W/Medicare? It's all seniors, so the client base is too low to cover costs, plus you got Medicare D (a Rep creation)which is a disaster. Plus Medicare pays for things through the current private system. It is even illegal for them to negotiate drug prices down.

He got PART of the reduction we would have had with gov't purchasing power being used to reduce prices (economies of scale) so that was a compromise. Next, he went from single-payer to public option. In single payer the gov't provides everything (Hospitals, doctors, drugs, pays). With public option, it provides an alternate insurance. W/ single payer, private healthcare is llegal, w/public option it remains legal. Yet, no matter what he does, you guys call him commie/Nazi, etc..why compromise?

At it's worst I couldn't even sit or lie down without excruciating pain. And mine was actually on the smallish side. Yes, once you get it lanced and let it heal it may not come back, but some people get them over and over until they actually have the whole area excised. Additionally it's wasn't Limbaugh's call, it was the medical personnel on the draft board. They decided he was unfit for duty, not Rush. Believe me, I really would like to blast the fat fuck over this, but I can't.
