other os's are better because you can run windows, linux and those other os's on any computer. Mac can only run legally on there own computers but if you a imac g3 or a powermac g4 you can upgrade it and run osx because as long as it has a mac's bios chip on it you can run osx on it.

UNIX was hysterical. LOL! Especially since some of it's history has to do with being developed by Bell Labs, some of it being developed by AT&T, but especially because Steve Jobs modeled Mac OS X after NeXT which was modeled after the BSD UNIX distro which was UC-Berkley student hippie UNIX. But the biggest reason why I liked UNIX's character is because he is exactly who I would imagine a 70's hippie coder like Steve Wozniak to be like today. LOL!!!

I've switched to Mac recently at my workplace for an iPhone development project. God, is it a disaster?!? It's so hard to work with and lacks simplest functionality an OS should have (e.g. you can't cut and paste files, maximize windows, etc.) and it's so not user friendly (e.g. buttons on dialog boxes are not focused, the only way to select them is to click on them, no shortcuts, not even simple enter!!!) use Ubuntu for 30 mins and you'll fall in love with it. Macintosh is a hipster OS. Word.

First of all, Microsoft, not Windows.

Secondly, Microsoft came up with MS-Dos. It didn't even had graphical interface. Mac's brought that. (Apple II, Lisa, Macintosh, whatever.)

Then Apple exchanged it for other things from MS. So if there was no Apple, you would probably work on text-based operating system, since Windows are basically stealing ideas from Mac OS (widgets, quicksearch and so on).

Unless Linux would have invented that. Then Windows would steal these ideas too.
