To do the speed glitch, hold the stick up and move it to the right until it's just barely far enough to make Sonic start to walk. Then hold it there and do a spindash + jump

Either way, glitch or hack, neither makes this impressive. It never is when someone has to use glitches and cheats just so they can be better than others. Its pathetic really. Beyond that, the point of speedrunning is trying to exploit the game's slight faults (or not, depending on what it is) and execute it in the fastest way possible. More or less in good fun, really. =/

Not to mention if you look at world record speedruns and such for other games in general, you'll see the same type of thing: exploits.

2 things:

1) very nice run, definately picked up some good ideas that helped in all the stages

2) for everyone who's calling him a hacking asian, the top time for this is held by someone in the EU, then Japan, then 3rd though 10th are USA. His time puts him in the USA slot.

the first spin dash jump after the spring was extremely useful. I wasn't able to time the second or third jump, but by using the first jump i was able to clear the stage before 1 minute and got the achievement. thanks.

@supersoniccd I don't think this is a glitch. From what I can tell the player is simply making very clever (and deft) use of the physics in the game. For instance, by using the momentum gained from boosting up slight inclines.
