  • Ugh that mustang is ugly as fuck.. I think the older models look better.That fox body looks goofy to me.

  • Why everyone talking about different or more upgrades? You could do alot to either one of there cars and make it stupid fast. I drive a 97 gtp which ran a 14.8 in 1/4 mile this summer with nothing but exaust and a K&N filter. I know with a 3.4 pully and a tune you can get gtps runnin 13's all day long. You could also do a few upgrades to the 5.0 and have it lifting the wheels off the ground on launch!

  • Def a stock mustang... anymore I don't even count gears as an upgrade because all new cars have a better set of gears already installed...the intake doesn't help a damn thing but look better...so the guy has a set of mufflers. It even sounds like it is running through the stock catted H pipe.

  • Stock 5.0. I work tirelessly with these Mustangs, I can hear the sound difference between different heads. This 5.0 has stock heads. It's an intake/exhaust/gears car, that's it. A Comp G is a low 15 car @ 93 mph. My '92 convertible 5.0/5 speed with only pulleys and exhaust went 14.05 @ 97.5 mph on street tires. Nothing removed, still had spare tire and jack in the trunk, stock paper air filter etc, 3460 lbs race weight. A 5.0 with stock iron GT40s, stock cam, and GT40 intake traps ~103 mph.

  • @gtdrummerdude I could see a low 15 from a comp G if it spins too much or at elevation. But my comp G at minnesota altitude ran 14.776@94.8 bone stock on street tires. Not up to par with your mustang, but with a pulley and intake or exhaust like your mustang has im pretty sure id pick up a few mph to be in that 97-98 area at least, not sure how much e.t. id pick up though if i stuck with street tires.

  • @circlelt1 Well shoot a pulley on your car is worth a little more than a pulley on mine lol whole different thing, I recently switched out the stock intake manifold on my car for one off a '99 Explorer. HUGE difference. I picked up an extra 600 rpm of powerband and 2 mph in the 1/4. Should be able to hit 100 mph with the intake mani, pulleys and exhaust only. Throw a 3.25 pulley and fuel mods at your car with intake and exhaust, it'll hit 100 easy.

  • @gtdrummerdude Nice, yeah problem with the series-3 L67 is theyre more prone to KR. So, what would be like a "stage 1" for me would probably be only a 3.5/3.6 pulley, plugs, pcm, intake, dp, tune. 100mph is my goal aswell.

  • the GTP was stock , if the Stang was stock it might be a different story. When i had my GTP i never raced a mustang , but im sure stock for stock, story might have a different outcome.

  • I bet it did have head work, the eighties to very early nineties 5.0 earned the name five slow for a reason. 175-225hp. Barely lighter and less powerful than a gtp, if it was relatively stock this would be an extermination, not a race. No disrespect, I've owned both.

  • @miniz33 I owned a 1986 5.0 GT with 5-speed and I can tell you I used to SMOKE GM's up until 1989, when the 350's FINALLY made some decent power. The equivalent 5.0 from Chevy in the Camaro and Firebird were ZERO competition. I'd spot them 1.5 lengths at the light, and by 2nd/3rd gear shift, was passing them like they were just sitting there! Now put a chip on that 305 and it was close, and a chip on the 350 meant I lost, until I spent $1,200 on mods and ran 13.6@105. Bye, Bye GM!!

  • @miniz33 You misunderstood me. When the '86 was bone stock, it took until '89 for the GM's to catch up. By then, my friend's 89 5.0 was dusting GM's. I've owned a GM since 1994, and can speak from experience they are not reliable. Same goes for Fords of the same genre. My 1992 Beretta was always having some issue and just before x-mas my 1996 Beretta died - broken camshaft. Never again will I own a GM, unless I have a mid-life crisis and get a Corvette or something impractical like that.

  • @miniz33 Actually, the Cavalier was cheaper!! What car had 185hp?? The Mustang had 200 stock, 270 when I was done with it. All American cars blew goats in terms of reliability from the 70's until the 2000's. If you don't know this, you're delusional.   • I have a gtp and I have a 5.0 and along with what someone else said. Aftermarket heads,,, I doubt. I mean here is my mod list. e303cam afr 165 heads 1.7 RR tfs upper and lower intake mani, 3.73's and a tko tranny. Best 1/4 time on motor 12.21 and I cant drive worth crap. but love my gtp much more. Waiting for tax season to come, can we say whipple swap. Already went down to a 2.5, has headers, RRs cam ported blower, intercooled etc etc... cant wait

  • @Camaromandave98 I love how its like, bad to lose to it. It's a V6, supercharged. It's a V6, so it gains revs faster. It's SUPERCHARGED, which means immediate boost. And from what I've been reading, it only has intake, exhaust, and gears. Not that much considering its down 15hp stock for stock.

  • Yeah alot of things that people dont take into consider is the fact that that platform Is older. I have an 89 with A few mods and i keep up with new cars. Its kinda sad to be honest. Ford Has always done their homework.

  • TBH, The 87-93 foxbodies were not that fast STOCK... But you can mod them for cheap and make madddd power with the 5.0's... I had a 92 notchback 5.0 with Full exhaust, intake, Cobra intake mani, MSD, 3.55's, mild cam, c-4 trans, and ET streets and i was in the high 13's, The foxes only come with 225hp stock, i believe.

My dad had a 93 cobra & i always wanted a stang so in august of 09 i bought one but had to keep dumping money into it due to oil leaks & $1,900 worth of parts to pass inspection.. then the transmission case cracked & i needed something more reliable so yeah, i sold it. I REGRET IT SO MUCH!!

  • @ICU55555 The competition wasn't faster at the time either. This generation Mustang was competing with Porsches and BMWs, and doing well. I think Ford could have easily gotten 300+RWHP from the 5.0, they've done it before, without EFI at that.

  • i destroyed a couple stock fox bodies in my 04 comp g gtp which is stock. they ran around 220 chp stock compared to the 260 chp and better gearing with the gtps

    almost any aftermarket head will net a 5.0 30-40horsepower at the wheel because the stock head's where designed in the 60's for TRUCKS.

  • Dude this Mustang is nearly stock. There's a few videos of an '88 5.0 coupe with only bolt-on heads, cam, intake (with no porting) and gears running mid 12s @ 107 mph in 5000 ft DA. The car has done 12.30s @ 110. That's a stock 5.0 block with a $900 pair of Edelbrock heads, Ford Motorsport E-303 cam and Trickflow intake manifold, along with 3.73 gears. The rest of the entire car is bone stock. 5.0 Mustangs are about the best bang for your buck anywhere as can be realized by the fan base.

  • A GTP with a 3.4 setup, intake and exhaust here in Phoenix will barely get into the 14s. Seen it, have known ppl who have been there, done that. You could walk a stock 2003 GT by 10 lengths and then lose to another by 10 lengths. It's like that with any car. Cars are like people; their personalities develope based on experiences. Some Mustangs suck, others are rockets. Same with GTPs and every other car so lighten up already.

  • It depends what year the GTP is. I'm in tucson which has worse atmosperic pressure then phoenix and I did 14.78 bone stock, but I have a series 2 and it's a coupe. But still with a series 3 and a 3.4 pulley even a 4 door should be doing atleast high 14's...

  • @Xarmy187 The stock heads on that 5.0, and the 302 from the 1960s are completely different. The only thing that is the same is the block. The GT40 heads are from the 1960s though....

  • @Xarmy187 Sorry, my bad! The GT40 heads took inspiration from earlier designs, but were first used in the Explorer. Don't you have the videos of the red Convertible? Do you want to sell? Or trade for an 03 Cobra? Hate the supercharger whine, and I drive it daily.

  • This car doesnt have aftermarket heads, if he does they are the gt40's, which also suck.. Ive had my share of foxbodies, with the head combo, this car is a high 13 second car in the vid.. thats about it..

  • I have an 05 GP COMp.G and they run mid to high 14 stock. Mine has cold air, ram air, getting exhaust and 180 tstat and will run def low 14s. the mustang should beat it since it has a lot of work done, but he barely got him.

  • My GP is identical. What people seem to forget is that the 04 GP is a 4 door sedan. It wasnt built to outrun mustangs. They are a totally different class of car. But at the same time that 04 GP does put down some respectable power. Get a full exaust with full CAI and you would easily run 14's or better. Then chip it and your heading into the mid 13's. GM really bottlenecked the 3800. Its still a nice mustang though

  • Yea that 5.0 did NOT have heads. Maybe he had a stage 1 port on the stock E7 heads, but he didn't have an aftermarket set of heads or any extensive head work. It sounded like a bone stock 5.0 to me, and I hang out at the Mustang meets every weekend. I can tell when someone has heads.

  • if you are going to drop pulley sizes, you want to have some supporting mods first. I would recommend getting a cold air intake, 3 inch downpipe, colder spark plugs, PCM, and then you could run 3.6 or maybe a 3.5 pulley.

  • My friend Andy has a stock-block 5.0L in his '91 notch. He has aftermarket heads and an aftermarket cam along with throttle body and intake manifold, headers and exhaust. The car has a stock bottom end and actually a stock intake pipe and filter. It's a 5 speed car with 3.73 gears. So basically it has the same mods the Mustang in this video supposedly does except for the cam and throttle body. The car runs 12.30s on Nitto street tires, i've watched it. This video is a joke and so is your comment
