the auxiliary knife is used for sharpening, right? i read somewhere on their site that one of the two knifes sold with almost every khukuri can be used to sharpen it cause its made of harder steel
@philly624 some may be used for sharpening, but I wouldn't do it - from what I read they are for miscellaneous tasks, like cutting fruit and striking flint. Most people keep them pretty dull due to the second use (flint striker).
Damn we'll ok it is a beautiful blade and Thnk u anastasia for answering it is beautiful I thought it was one I saw but now Tht I look closer its different beautiful tho thnks anyway
@GOONZOOF it's never been used, so is in excellent condition. I payed close to $100 for it, so $50 is not going to be even close, sorry. Especially since it's essentially one of a kind. I'd take $300.
@joker117000 I haven't used the Cold Steel Kukri before, but it's a lot lower weight as compared to the Kukri House design, so I expect you'd have to do a lot more work to chop wood and thicker branches than with the Kukri House Kukri...assuming similar blade sharpness.
@TacticalGunGuy Not bad i may buy one and do some touch up work to get it stupid sharp, but overall very nice blades, I appreciate you anwsering my questions.
@temporalConfluence He had about 20 of them made up, but he doesn't have any more (I bought one of the last two). Khukuri House keeps specs on their custom builds though, so they coudl reproduce it. It's called the "McCurdy"
@natrajyogi01 The guy I bought my two knives from bought them directly through Kukhri house and told me they were great to work with and he did a few different types of project knives with them.
I was actually looking at the same knife a few months ago but was skeptical of the quality due to the low price. Have you torture tested then at all? Would make a great back country knife or out in the woods.
Great clip and commentary. I just want to add that please be careful when you open the khukuri from the cover. Please do not hold the cover warped around your hand, try holding it on the top of the cover - opposite to the sharp end of the cover. As you open the blade out of the cover few times (might be a while) there is a chance it might cut through the leather and eventually the fingers. There are few clips on youtube how to open a khukuri. Push the handle up to unlock the khukuri.
@cajar78 good tip, thanks. I could see how that might happen with a worn cover. I cut myself enough on things already and dont' want to worry about lopping off a finger with a razor sharp 20oz Kukri blade.
@windyhillpatriot I purchased from a guy who had them made already from Khukuri House - he mentioned that he just had to fill out a custom order form and pay a deposit (he ordered a bunch (10+) of that same configuration, so I'm not sure if they need a deposit for 1 or 2qty). The last time I looked at the Khukuri House website, they had the form that you could dowload for custom orders to fill out with the specifics of your planned configuration
Great video, i'm thinking about buying one of the Nepal Army Service Kukri from their eBay store and this is helping me out. I want to bring one with me when I visit the Phillipines. Is the small knife sharp as well?

In terms of peformance how would you say these compare to the cold steel counterpart?

@TacticalGunGuy I was under that same impression, how sharp were your kukris when they arrived?
joker117000 3 months ago
@joker117000 pretty sharp - they'd cut paper on edge.

The guy you bought the second (custom) one from - does he still sell that exact knife? I wouldn't mind getting a hold of one of those.

Nice vid! I recently purchased a few kukri knives from the Khukuri House. I like the uniqueness and quality of them.
Actually, I've been considering doing a "custom" kukri knife to use for bushcraft work. And, I like the one you had made.
Can you give some specifics on how you went about ordering it? Did you order from someone on eBay, or directly through the Khukuri House. Thanks!

ComradeGeneralK 1 year ago
@ComradeGeneralK The small skinning knife is not that sharp, as I bought it, but it takes and holds an edge quite well.
TacticalGunGuy 1 year ago
they were both actually quite sharp - would hang on a fingernail.
