A puppet state doesn't give as much unhapiness as a occupied city, so it doesn't slow down an empire in terms of production, food or gold as much as an occupied or a razed city
You can counter this with a corthouse but it takes a long time to finish if the city is very small and you need mathematics before
I noticed that you were building roads towards future city sites. Isn't it better to build a road to a city only when it's at a good population level to at least break even on the road's maintenance?
I expected these to be boring considering how slow Civ5 is overall; but with your educational commentating they are actually quite interesting. Good work.
Man... this is the problem with CIV 5. The AI is completely inept at combat. He went from completely catching you off guard with a nice surprise attack and a much larger army, to being totally wiped out in what... like 20 turns? Jesus
@mooseclamps True, although I have years of experience in Panzer General as well as a few months in CIV5. On top of that, Darius didn't have iron. I was surprised he attacked in the first place. My 13str legions vs his 6 str warriors isn't really a challenge. Combat AI still needs a lot of work, but mostly in the ranged units section.
Thanks for the videos. I really enjoy them. Although I would have built the national college earlier instead of another legion/ballista because Darius was pretty weak.
@searanox after taking out a few civs, your lonely warriors/legions will be pretty much unstoppable, making future conquest much easier without losing units
ironic rome got hannibals father as a great gen :D

If the AI was smart he would have burned down your Iron. He was sitting right on top of it.

I know you're thinking of the long-term, but why not use the insta-heal promotion during the battle?

@searanox I do, but only I have no other choice. I used it twice later in this game.
