Matias is great, outplays Tolkki (and any other Finnish metal guitarist) and very nice guy, he actually bothers to answer amateur questions on Finnish musician's web forum. I don't think he sounds like Vai.. well maybe on this video but not overall.. Matias has a style of his own

@altsua Well that's pretty bold to say. There is some other technically advanced guitarists that outplays matias. For example what you hear all the time, Alexi Laiho. Even thou he might be somewhat overrated he has still his own unique style of playing, which is technically more advanced, not mentioning his sober shredding capability. And for the record, technique is a tool, which gives you the advantage to create music.

@guitargod7890 Alexi doesnt outplay Matias :D Matias has the emotion and tehnic mastered. Jari Mäenpää is in the same league with Matias. Not Alexi. And i dont say that alexi sucks ( i listen to bodom ) hes good guitarist and he sings while he plays andthat is hard to do.

i love the mixolydian mode to play slow solos... it sounds very relaxing.. (:

First part is in lydian mode, then it changes to ionian mode ;) and I don't think that sounds so Vai'ish...it's just a some improshit over E-something.

If I remember correct, Vai stated once that lydian is one of his favorite modes (not sure though), that's probably why people think of Vai when they hear your video.

For those who don't know. This "Rockway"- thing is a Finnish online music school, which gives you online lessons for guitar, bass, drums and recording. Pretty useful for those who haven't an opportunity to go for real lessons. These lessons aren't free though.
