haha this solves a mystery that I've wondered about for many moons. I had this Barbie, and I cut her hair. I don't remember doing it, but something must have provoked me. NOW I read these comments about the wiry hair and it's making so much more sense...thirty years later!
80`s dolls are so pretty i wish i had one now they are all divas who all care about pink and make up and having purses and all that nonsense....plus the barbie dream town house is all pink and purple not like a regular house-i would know because i have a 9 year old sister;/
I was born in '81, so I missed out on this! She is beautiful but the clothes are definitely remiscent of the decade earlier to me.
The commercial was definitely early 80s, since all that screaming for Barbie and neon colors that the latter decade was known for came around after! The girls and dad are talking too quietly for me... (>_<)
i had this doll, she was my fave, UNTIL my "friend" lol told me she would be better if she was in water, so I wet her and ALL her wires stood straight up on her head and could not be fixed! My "friend" said that happened to mine too, I just didn't want yours better than mine. I was soo bent, lol. that was over 20 some odd years ago, and I still never forgave her, lol
I had that barbie. My mom took away the curling iron, so I never knew I could curl her hair. I guess mom thought I would eat the accesories, so I never got to keep them!
I had this one! Her hair hair golden wires that were supposed to curl with the fake curling iron. Yeah her hair got a little messy after a while. She was very tanned too. Awesome!!
@LadyDi4476 I had the styling head version...I pulled out all the gold because it was wiry compared to the rest of her hair...and since it wouldn't curl the way i wanted it too, I ran a barely warm curling iron over it...well needless to say her hair "texture" changed form SILKY to more like mine....and actually, since I could still style it, I was koo with that.
Her hair was a little funky . . . didn't curl as well as the commercial. Very nice outfit. I still own this one, thanks for the commercial. Must have seen it all those years ago.
if anyone has vhs tapes of cartoons w 80's barbie commercials, please let me know, especially from 83-84 with golden dream barbie, crystal barbie, etc.

The melody of the background music sounds extremely similar to the song "Georgy Girl".

I finally got Golden Dream Christie off ebay. She is like the Holy Grail for me. The coolest Barbie of the 80s, in my opinion.

its got an 80s hairstyle! I honestly envy them so much for living through the best of the decades,
btw that girl with the blonde hair looks abit like Heather O'Rourke

@Moviestar20 Not sure who the blonde is...but the brunette is Tonya Crowe who played Olivia, Abby's daughter, On Knot's Landing.

@MsTexas73 Ah...I see. Thanks for letting me know.

These girls looked to be just a bit older than I was in 1980. They'd probably be about 37 now.

@dynasue77 Tonya's about 40...I remember her being just a couple of years older than I was when she was on Knot's Landing. And I'll be 38 this year.
