To be honest I don't think it's possible to actually 'understand' Lain. It is, after all, an art piece rather than a conventional narrative. Certainly it's possible to have deeper or more shallow interpretations, but fully understanding it? Never.

That said, this and 'Mad World' are better than the majority of Lain AMVs.

Is not so absurdely complicated. Many people think is more deeper and full of hidden meanings than really is. Of course is necessary to watch all episodes to clarify everything and a lot of knowledge and intuition, but is not so hardcore.

I had more difficulties with FLCL.

I agree, you can extract as much meaning out of it as you want, there's a neverending amount in this show that you could "understand", whether it was intended is a completely different story. good song and excellent amv from a fantastic show :)

Well , The Real name of the anime is Serial Experiment Lain. ;) Well its a very good and somehow sad and psych anime. Well ... the video is okay , u didin't took 19 hours . 3,5 Music is good.. and you puted them good together. But the sync isnt good. Have fun ! And Have a nice night.

It works really well without synching. It works well with the feel of the anime. It certainly is a hell of a lot better than the other hundred AMVs out there for Lain set to cheesy commercial gothic rock, probably made by people who couldn't understand the plot...

wow i could not agree with you more. i have just finished watching this for the first time(i marathoned through it) and i have to say this was the one most beautiful series i have seen. i cant really explain how i feel for it exactly. but i know i love it. my only regret is that i have not seen this sooner. also this is the first AMV i have seen of this show and after reading some of the comments(like yours) im not going to bother looking for others.

You may get lucky looking for other AMVs - sometimes you have to dig through mountains of crap to find gold; such is the internet. Some may say this is a bad thing yet if and when it finally becomes regulated i'll miss it...

I personally truly enjoy this video and find it to be well thought out and put together. Speed isn't everything, BelovedChirry. Just because you can't appreciate someone else's work doesn't mean you have to be so rude and put them down. Gather some manners, would you? You are supposed to think she is going insane. But then you realise she isn't. Let's say God exists (I don't believe in him), would you call him insane when he was making the Earth? I think you need to watch it again and maybe read the wikipedia article, etc.

You can't understand it by only glancing at it. (and by that I mean watching it once) But I've watched it several times. Lain's life was normal until she was introduced to the wire because her dead friend emailed her. A lot of events happened and she eventually learned that she was God (of the Wire or Earth?). Don't you think anyone would of turned out a little crazy? Especially if you consider the fact that she thought she was "normal".

I don't think she was normal. Lots of people say she was created (or destined) to become God. Look at her family, how "fake" it seems, right from the beginning. The writer did that all deliberately. It is a VERY intricate story that is supposed to make you change your mind as you watch it! That is why it is considered one of the best ever anime.

That's also very true, from the audience's point of view Lain's family life from the beginning was strange and artificial but what I am suggesting is that maybe she thought it was normal herself, that is how she always imagined her family to be like. (Like my family isn't really considered normal either, I won't go into details. XD) I also agree that you must pay attention to the details or you might miss something. Lain truly is amazing in a "hard to understand" kind of way.

Yes, she did think she was normal, I agree with that. So perhaps it is her slipping away from that normality rather than her going insane. I realise that is semantics, but worth clarifying.

PS nobody's family is completely normal but as long as you're not turning into the new God, you're probably doing OK ... :D
