It's quite amazing to 'discover' an artist years after you knew they existed. I personally listened to Queen's music, but only now have been entirely swamped with awe and respect for Freddie Mercury's energy andd vocal capability. I suppose it was a bit like having a nice snack in the fridge... I still have the Beatle's to 'discover' at nearly 40.

Of course, Freddie is the greatest ever anyway. I especially love the first Queen album which knocked me out completely when I was about 15. It opened up a whole musical universe. I asked once my bro what made Queen so special. He said without hesitating, "it's the harmonies".He was right for sure.

I stood about ten feet away from Freddie when he was on stage here. Its hard to put into words how I feel now about that day never mind then. I wept when he died. I mean really wept. didn't go to work for a couple of days either. I have really been to another gig since there was no real point. But to stand in front of Freddie was one of the best days of my life..I am straight guy but to be honest I think he was more of a man than most guys I know including me.

The sad reality is when people pass you trully realise how great they were - these guys were slightly beyond my generation but I too could cry about Freddie and the fact I missed out on him too - what a voice what a entertainer great songs - Hopefully will be seing the boss in concert this summer.
