Every school has their asses when it comes to fans. I'm in Arkansas and I've seen some downright nasty fans here, and some taunting fans from LSU. But all in all the majority of fans I've met from Louisiana (both LSU and Mcneese state) have been super hospitable and wonderful to talk to. Heck I was even invited to their tailgate and thanksgiving dinner (Ark vs LSU). Yeah, there's a few bad apples in every school, but I won't let them change my thoughts of the university. Respect from Arkansas.
@chrisz71 There are no bad apples in Southern California. The MOOSE and his fellow Men of Troy represent the college football world and the PAC-12 with CLASS!
As a Vols fan, this trip continues to be my least favorite one to make. The fans are obnoxious and yell tiger bait in my face for the whole game. Not the classiest place in town.
@volunteernation16 i got a buddy thats on the coaching staff at alabama and he got hit in the mouth with a D battery that was thrown from the stands in tiger stadium back in '08
Yeah people make it out to be worse than it is. You may have someone yell tiger bait but they're is no violence at all. It's all in good fun and of you're cool they'll be cool too. It's only when people get mad and try to fight people for saying tiger bait that thongs go bad. And dude you should go to a game. Drunk hot college girls everywhere plus free food and an awesome stadium to watch a game in.
Haha! No, LSU fans are just very generous with the food & drink. :-) If an opposing team's fans come up to ask what's cooking or are just acting interested & friendly, they automatically get invited to the tailgate. You don't have to spend a dime before the game - just sniff around & find the best looking food. If you are halfway nice to the people cooking it, you gain access to an all-you-can-eat buffet! lololol
There's no truth to that at all. Louisianians are generous and gracious to anyone who generous and gracious right back. If you act like you don't want anything to do with Tiger fans at a ball game you will likely get some grief but not anything like what you've described. There's a time-honored tradition of "Tiger-baiting" opposing teams fans. If you act intimidated and hostile you will only encourage more Tiger-baiting until all you want to do is leave. (Read the next comment for more)
@wsevin: If however you smile and approach the one(s) tiger-baiting you and even give whatever your team's cheer is, stick out your hand and introduce yourself, you will likely get invited to a tailgate where you will enjoy some of the best of Tiger tailgating. In fact, there are opposing fans every home game who do this purposely in order to get free food and drink and make new friends that invite them back the next time the teams play. The point is, it's all in your attitude.
@wsevin hey man, if you come to LR for a game let me know. Arkansas fans give you grief (well the ones that have been drinking since the tuesday before the game). I don't tailgate at the stadium because I refuse to pay the UofA approx $700 for a spot to tailgate, but if you give me a heads up i can give you a list or something of the best places to watch football (or prepare for the game) around town. But there's usually free food around somewhere on the golf course. I hope to go to BR sometime.
I have a legitimate question and I don't want any negative comments about this. Is it true that if you wear another team's colors or logos or whatever the fans will surround you, spit on you, flip you off, punch you and other things? I've always wanted to go to tiger stadium, but I don't want to have to deal with people trying to mug me for wearing another color.
Is there any truth to that, or is it just a rumor from all other SEC schools?
@chrisz71 I go to LSU and I consider myself to be particularly rowdy sometimes while tailgating. That being said, I have never heckled anyone by doing anything worse than simply tiger-bating them. I know there are rumors out there about LSU people, but I promise that you won't get beaten up if you go to an LSU game. If someone tiger-baits you, just laugh... Coming from someone who has been to 8 or 9 SEC stadiums, Arkansas is the worst hands down--in terms of heckling. Bama was pretty bad too
@FRANCISnLA I completely agree with you about Arkansas fans. The majority aren't like that, but man, there are a LOT of heckelers. But it never fails- when there's a game in LR SOMEONE always gets arrested, and people have been drinking since tuesday before the game, and to top it off, there are a lot of people from the middle of nowhere, so they "cheer" by going batshit crazy.
I look forward to a trip to LSU, but I guarantee I'll be the only one there from my family and friends.
yea u must be a bama fan.we feel the same about yall too. i lived in gilf shores alabama for a year and never in my life hav i seen a more idiotic group of people than bama fans, yall are fuckin stupid
It is no wonder why smaller schools like Louisiana-Lafayette get their hearts ripped out of 'em and handed to 'em in a doggie bag when they go into places like this - this is INTIMIDATING
You're way off. Small schools love playing in places like this. Kids grow up dreaming of running out in front of 90,000+ fans. This is the only time they're exposed to this type of atmosphere. As a former football player, I get chills just thinking about it.
No disrespect, but not true...I know Alabama does, and I'd be willing to bet so does Auburn, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee do as well. I think it's an SEC thing.
Looks like a great atmosphere. As a recent UGA graduate I wish I could be there for the 10/25/08 showdown between the SEC's elite the past several years. Way to represent the SEC with another beat down of THE over-hyped university. By the way, which song is "hold that tiger?"
its the pregame song... when the band marches out on the field and plays those 4 notes that gets everybody screaming... its not our 'fight' song, but it's the most revered...that and we seem to like 'neck' now.

Yeah, but LSU does it with style! The food is the best on the entire planet and there's a LOT more liquor.
