  • Great show! I got to see the encore (cause i had to perform at finals) but I absolutely loved the brass feature at the end! Although, me being on the drumline, I kinda wanna seeTarpon next year with a full battery ensemble, like, tenors and basses and everything.

  • But for the compliments, Tarpon sure can perform. Some of the best performers in BOA and the design team does such a great job at using their numbers to full capacity. Even the drill forms make sense...like the arrows etc. pointing out what needs to be looked at. Oh, and the guard is both monstrous and amazing keep it up. Hopefully we see a full drumline sometime soon.

  • The amount of marching and playing is minimal. When they do play they will have some amazing runs or loud trombone chorus but they are not moving. They are great at putting on a show but in my opinion what they are doing is a loophole in the system. There needs to be more reward for achievement.

  • Alright I don't want to rant on Tarpon but here are my thoughts on them. So first off, they are a music conservatory. Every kid gets free lessons? Okay that's a bonus. They can get these elaborate props to distract from the difficulty of the show? Okay that's a bonus. They can stand still got most musical impacts? Bonus. Not that the show is some easy cake walk, but let's get real here.

  • i think y'all are amazing, especially since y'all are such a small band. we have a pretty small band for our division (like 150 compared to every else's 250) and our band director showed us a video of y'all's "paranormal" show to show us how small bands could be good...inspirational

  • I always liked Tarpon Springs because of their unique and mysterious shows combined with their musical talent

  • props are a crutch

  • this show is written by frank sullivan who is specially writing a show for my high school next year. and we got avon's drill writer to right for us

  • @scorplayer3 what school do you go to?

  • Freakin amazing...I still like their show last year better though.Tarpin Springs is amazing,my best wishes (as in me wanting to be them) and good luck to them :)

  • wow, surprise surprise. tarpon springs wins again. u know? their whole show is based on props. they have some pretty decent players and nice visuals but they dont deserve 1st every year.

  • Wow these woodwind runs are epic, I play alto saxophone in the Leesburg High School Swarm of Sound and they only bad thing about playing saxophone is usually all the judges hear are the clarinets :/.

  • Everyone has their own opinions and thats ok but the fact that some of you guys dont have all of your facts straight and decide to make things up is sad. For some of you guys that dont like them and talk trash about them is sad too because they dont spend their time talking about any other school, they have better things to do. Whether or not they have props and a laptop, Mr Ford will still create amazing shows.

  • What do they say during "the white queen" cuz all i hear is "everybody wave" and i can tell theres more before it but i cant make it out. So can anybody tell me wat they say?

  • Also the props ADD to the story Ford is telling on the field. The show would not be boring without them as their drill is pretty awesome to watch. Their show ALWAYS gives me goose bumps.....they know how to tell the story on the field! GO TARPON!!!!

  • Tarpon is a great band. Always entertaining and pushing the envelop. If you have any doubts on how they do it, go see for yourself, they practice Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you don't like taking the back seat, Tarpon is a magnet band program, join and experience the greatness. As a former band member from the Band of Gold, a long time ago, when they were great and they took the field everyone else could pack up and go home. No likes to take the back seat. So before you critize go SEE it.

  • The arrow was just...WHOA.

  • @coolcooja click tracks? There are none, just count offs but there in music.

  • Marching bands/drum corps should not be using click tracks aka cheating

  • @coolcooja You are so right! I'm so glad this band didn't use one whatsoever during their performance. :)

  • @coolcooja where the hell did you hear a click track

  • It's kind of sad when they have more props in their halftime show than we did in our drama department's musical this year.

  • I totally didn't notice they spelled Alice when I saw this at BOA! You guys were by far, the best, and I was literally out of my seat the entire show. Congrats to you guys! Being as I go to Oviedo, I was really excited to see you perform, and it was well worth it! Congrats again!

  • I miss this already.

  • Amazing band! boring show.

  • I think I just had about 30 orgasms watching this.

  • I have to say, they really are great. I just like it better when it's not ALL focused around visuals and a lot of the music going on is electronic.

  • I gotta admit that was good but it would be amazing if you would lay off the synthesizing and stuff like that and actually play your instruments!!!7

  • I'll admit, pretty B.A. But still, compared to the degree of musicianship of countless bands that Tarpon faces each year, it would be fair if Tarpon actually played their instruments the majority of their show. And not just play at the big moments and let the baby drumline, pit, and laptop do the rest. i'll say it again, really good/ but where would y'all be w/o a laptop and props?

Also, hats off to the guard- do they do WGI?

  • @fiyero201 The drill is pretty incredible for a high school band.....

  • @fiyero201 hey im in tarpon and il tell you right now we played every second of this show if our instruments are up we are playing!!

  • No need to go crazy with Shift+1's at the end of your statement. Your show was 11 minutes, approximately. While, regardless of your instrument, you might have played the majority of your show you cannot say that w/o your set, the show would be boring. it captures the visual caption for 3A, great, and this year you swept class 3A and obviously won the 3A title (good job!) but music is an average, playing easy-hard music for a limited amnt. of time is cheat. again-congrats tarpon

  • @fiyero231 Ur right, Music is but half the show!~

  • @BuRnInGxMaGiC i must also congratulate you on being the only band out of 32 to break a 90. boa scores on soooo curved

  • @fiyero201 we would still be at the top in 1st place

  • @fiyero201 we would still be at the top in 1st place

  • @Kmart9711 That made absolutely no sense whatsoever

  • @fiyero201 At least they actually march and play unlike most of the bands who just play in holds when they aren't playing they're remembering what it's like to breath.

  • holy crap! look at all of your props! look at all of your guard! look at the band! that was AMAZING! Visually phenomenal! I wish i could have seen this in person!! :D

  • God, they're amazing. With a drumline or not, they will always be probably my favorite marching band (oh sorry, outdoor performance ensemble).

  • I'll admit, I'm not a huge fan of the music this year, but they are VERY solid visually. Congrats to them! (:

  • Man, they've been running this gimmick forever! Small ass band, take up the whole field with props to make them look bigger, and then they get in a group for a focused sound in the "big" moments....That's so lame. BOA is a joke now.

  • @theDrumkilla They're like AAA with like 140 members im not in band but I go to tarpon. They're pretty damn good, and rightfully so since they've won 3 years in a row....

  • @nicktabus1000 "im not in band"...I stopped reading there.

  • @theDrumkilla You're a joke. Just like all the other "armchair critics" that bash anything too successful. Tell me: what have you gained from leaving that comment? Do you think a kid from Tarpon Springs read it and is now crying their little eyes out? Do you think Kevin Ford (director) read it, and will take your opinion into consideration for next year's show? No? So why say it? No one cares about your whining.

  • @theDrumkilla You should do everyone a favor and remove yourself from anything related to marching band because we don't need assholes like you poisoning it! Good day.

  • @xHuntedGunzPCGx You must go to Tarpon.

  • @theDrumkilla No, I am just pointing out when someone is making unnecessary remarks.

  • An amazing show! What talented kids able to perform at this level! Congrats Kevin Ford.....and thank you for pushing these kids to be the best! You have made a difference in their lives! you have a great passion! See you next year!

  • really amazing show Tarpon! Loved every minute of it! You stood out once again, as it seems no one else is really in your league! Mr Ford and crew have lead you to the top again and you all are truly some talented people! You should all be proud of the long hours you have put in and it was well worth it!

  • Some cool GE......both visually and musically. I am glad you call yourself an outdoor performance ensemble as you are not marching band without a drumline.

  • @1049berkeley

We do have a drumline this year, 9 snares.

  • @dancearchitect1134 Cool...I totally missed it.....YOU ARE A MARCHING BAND :-) And very good at that...

  • @1049berkeley - Did you watch this video? Or are you just a hater of the non-traditional?

  • @BandPurist Of course I watched it. I am entitled to my opinion just as you are your opinion. Your insinuation is that my opinion is wrong. Sorry, an opinion-whether you agree or you do not., it is all good. Would love to see a full percussion line on the field. Also, non-traditional does not always equal better.

Tarpon Springs is fantastic.....it is nice to see them marching some percussion this year

  • @1049berkeley Before you give "opinions" on common terms, perhaps you should consult a dictionary. That way, you don't come off as a complete moron.

  • @drmbeaufort I guess I got under your skin.......To resort to name calling is, well, real mature. And, since when were you designated expert on an activity that is highly subjective as you suggest others use a dictionary because you are so above it. Guaranteed you know less than you think you do.

  • @1049berkeley Did I claim to be an "expert" or "above" anything? No. I said you should be more aware of some things before you speak. If you're going to give unconstructive criticism on a HIGH SCHOOL performance, don't get all bent out of shape when someone calls you out on it. I said this before to another user; will anyone from TS read your comment and do anything differently? NO. So then what was the point of even being negative in the first place?

  • @drmbeaufort Actually, you imply that you know more. 1. Simply by requesting I use a dictionary. 2. Call me out on what ? My opinion ? Let's see....I play the trumpet, mellophone, french horn and the piano. I marched 4 years on a state championship band in Colorado. Marched 4 years at Univ of Colorado and played front ensemble for the Blue Knights. Yes, it is my opinion. I could care less whether anyone from Tarpon Springs reads this or not- including you---but obviously you did.

  • @1049berkeley Did you read my entire comment? Obviously you didn't, because if you did, you'd know why I said what I said. You gave a negative opinion in a way that was neither useful or even warranted of a group of HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, some no doubt as young as 13. It doesn't matter what organization you've been a part off, calling out KIDS just to do it is classless and deserved the response that it got. Take that crap to DCP. Keep it classy or keep it moving!

  • @drmbeaufort Again, I am entitled to my opinion. And you, your's. I can only imagine what your friends, if you have any, think of you.

  • @1049berkeley Real classy. I've made my point so I'm going to take the high road and just end this conversation. This video is, after all, about Tarpon Springs and their amazing performance.

  • @drmbeaufort You obviosuly did not read ALL of my comments about Tarpon Springs....there were some positive comments. Actually, this conversation has become about you and your "expert" knowledge of communication....but I bet you needed two dictionaries growing up didn't you ?

  • @1049berkeley And I'm sure that UC and the Blue Knights would frown upon your blatant display of disrespect towards another music organization.

  • Wow!

  • th trombones and susas at 9:17.... ahh... I was there for prelims. even though the noise they make is shunned in concert band.. it was perfect... PERFECT :S

  • Sabre in the bottom right corner. Caught her toss right in front of the judge on 4:30

  • @katmoon88

That was me! The second I caught he said, "NICE!". I was so ecstatic :3

  • Fantastic!!!!
