you gotta have a certain strap. i tried my guitar out on the lawn with a leather strap and it flew right off and landed in the grass- so now i have strap locks and a Nylon strap {Planet Waves Joe Satriani Nylon Guitar Strap} and i can do it for days. :)

the way i did it was to make sure that the neck isnt going to scrape the ground or anything else and then try to throw it like exactly diagonal around your body. also it helps to hyave a heavier guitar because the weight tends to carry it over using momentum or something. just make sure you have strap locks too because you really dont want to break the bass either.

what i do to spin the bass is like throw it at like a 10 o clock, 4 o clock angle so like it doesnt hit the ground lol. worked for me you should try it.
