@deeppwns Thank God He is sooooo merciful !!! We ALL have made big mistakes, but God uses them, and perfects them..erases the past, holds our tomorrows, so we can enjoy, and be in the moment....Freedom in a perfect second ! WoW !! Thank you, Daddy !
Is it just me or this is actually a really depressing song? Sounds like it's from someone who's thinking about suicide, or someone who's in the hospital on life support.
@jethyy Yes it is actually a song from the view of someone going through depression. Someone who has gave their all, and been through so much that they don't know what else to hold on to. But still decides to push on even though their is no hope.
@moz199322 this song was made in 1971... Eminem sampled this song and just mixed with pac's and biggie's verses.... I love 2pac with all my heart, but like this version better :)
I goitta agree, few songs have real emotional meaning. Words that penetrate the thoughts. This song made me realize many things and I really felt this song unlike many others that are just for fun.

@Beatlesrule123 Pac didn't sample didn't sample this it's just when Eminem made Runnin he took this chorus and switched it with the Runnin from the Police song and gave it a difrent beat
@Beatlesrule123 technically eminem sampled it cause the original version sounds way different. but it is a beautiful song and eminem did good with the sample of this song.
@jcronin97 how can you say that, there' two different genre's of music, thats like saying Man utd would beat St helen's at a game of football even though there a rugby team, Tupac and Biggie are an inspiration to millions, you shouldnt discriminate genre's you don;t like just because your musical tastes aren't as open minded as others

its sad that this song was only discovered because of Tupac, and just to say i do love tupac shakur's music its just i knew this song long before Runnin(dying to live) was even thought of...
This is one fine piece of song writing. I saw Edgar do this in LA in '86 live and it's fantastic. I wish that Otis could have covered it with the Stax crew. That would have been stellar. Maybe someone like Sharon Jones or someone of that caliber will do it.
@MontyGirl550 eminem produced a song for the Tupac movie. In the song he sampled this song and put verses from Tupac and Biggoe on the track. Beautiful original song and the rap song compliments it
My son had me listen to the Eminem version and I have to say it wasn't bad. I like that he realized what a great song this is, and wanted to use it. It is confusing though, b/c I didn't know if it was Tupac, Biggie, or Eminem who did it! Thanks for clearing it up for me. :-)

Been feelin' mad depressed lately over losing 900 dollars gambling.. I tried to deposit more money in my account today and last week as well but my bank thankfully put an international block on it.. haha and then I came across this song and I don't feel bad anymore. Time to put everything in perspective and stop wasting my money, I gotta use my money to give and help people out even if the odds are against me. Great song.. really changes your mood.
There is so much awesome music out there from the past to the present but this song has always given me chills and remained a favorite. Thank you for your gift Edgar and thank Life for giving us you.

But reality will make my dreams come true
So I'll keep fighting to live till there's no reason to fight
And I'll keep trying to see until the end is in sight
You know I'm trying to give so c'mon give me a try
You know I'm dying to live until I'm ready to die...

Good lord, he can sing. Does anyone know if he has any more good soulful songs like this?
jordanbama 2 years ago
Just listen to some of he and his brother Johnny together. They are some of the best guitar and sax I've ever heard. Seen them in 73. BLUES..........

Nobody, NOBODY does this song like this. I don't care how many remakes, retakes or whatever came along after it, this is the real deal.
