I remember when my grampa used to watch Bonanza! It was end of his world if he missed an episode... Oh, those were the times. Too bad that he died 9y ago.

This show and the Wonderful World of Disney was used to keep my brothers and sisters and I in line. There were 5 of us children. From 1961 to 1965; if we weren't on our best behavior through-out the week; we were banned from Sunday night television. From 1961 to 1965; Wonderful World of Disney and Bonanza was on NBC in color from 7:30 to 9:30. The worst thing that could happen to us was to be banished from the t.v. on a Sunday night. It was like having a horrible nightmare.

the show on Sunday evening before going to bed. Recently bought a DVD set of the old shows but it doesn't have the Bonanza theme that I remember. Truly one of the great shows

Hi, Paula. Did you know the theme from "Bonanza" has lyrics? I've always wanted to do this song, but it's even tougher than "Rawhide". I think I've got almost the whole "Bonanza" collection on Betamax and VHS tapes. By the way, have you ever heard "The Call of The Faraway Hills" from the movie "Shane"?. Beautiful, plaintive Western song. Now there is a song that I wish had lyrics! Cordially, John
