  • In the US you'd probably need to get 200 permits...

  • 5th grade education? Crap, I need to get moving lol :)

  • Hey you guys can saying shit about this Chinese guy but he with a six grade and understanding a lil of physics he made his submarine. I can imagine what He can do with you guys stupid engineering diploma!!! Creativity will always rules!!!! You bunch of pussy... Probably you guys r behind a desk watching you tube all day!!

  • If he thinks hes so bad ass because look at me i built a submarine im so fucking cool, why doesnt he grow some balls and take on a soviet nuclear submarine. fucking pussy

  • @UrbanLeopard13 hahaha

  • People, engineering education is not just about being able to build stuff; it is about building stuff reliable and with predictable qualities. How deep can this submarine go? Entire video never showed it fully underwater. Right now it is just a bug bucket.

  • how did i end up watching sup marine videos ?

  • 5th Grade Student can make a submarine,

    University Student cant make one,

    Why?

Because the Uni Student is not ASIAN

  • asian lvl is over 9000!!!

  • Thats gonna make a great casket.

  • Man... if this guy moved to America and had a regular person's income... he would probably build a rocket and land on the moon.

  • I speak Chinese, by the way he speaks, this guy sounds like a honest and nice guy. He doesn't even lie about using a ruler, having an education. He is truly inspiring, just my opinion.

  • its ok

  • I think he's trying to Leave china.

  • Nukes not included

  • The interior of that submarine reminded me of China Airlines.

  • the people who had the worst educations usually end up being the inverters and rich people. example bill gates and this guy.

  • People like this guy just make me sick. I mean, like, like wtf like - why can't he just hang out on land like the rest of the effin aminals on the plaent. I mean if like god or whoever wanted us to like make underwater cars or something it seems like Jesus would have had one of those.

  • playful minds creates nice toys....

  • And he's always smiling.

  • If this guy had completed education, he would have been greater than this. Opportuned people make use of your education wisely.

  • I would love to build a sub for the New Anglian Royal Navy

  • hahahaha!!!

  • the question is.. does it actually dive? You don't see him go under water more than 2 feet... I'm pretty sure the craftsmanship wouldn't hold the pressure in 3-4 meters eaven. Not hating.. But I just think you would be better off snorkling with fins and a mask at that depth.

  • @ZeroG84 Do you know that feeling you get when you finish an Ikea table set? I bet that's the feeling he got when he made the submarine. At this point, it doesn't matter about quality, but experiencing something at first hand.

  • I love this guy,it's one of the guys who would want to make something and the "smart guys" will laugh and send him back to his house to do his "homework" saying he can't do it,but instead he comes back with his fully created and fully working idea!

  • I'd use it to sneak up on skinny dippers.

  • I spent 4 years on a nuclear powered fast attack submarine in the US Navy, I admire your design and desire to explore the deep, keep the faith!

  • Go invent a brand new color.

  • Very inspiring!

  • fifth grade education = make submarines

I wanna go study in china.

  • @KeramatZMode: me too.lol

  • i think its so stupid that i need a piece of paper with my name on it, sighned by some guy who i dont even know, just to have proof that i know something. this guy is inspireing.

  • Better looking than the north korean stuff !

  • hey , i am planing walk in water technology, where i can ran on the water .

  • This man is a testament to the spirit of ingenuity. How many college graduates could do the same?

  • nice, but the interviewer kinda skipped on some key points.

    where does he store it?

    hoe big is it?

what does he use it for?

  • made in china...go TAO go!!!

  • he is probably going to run from china...

  • Very nice!!

  • ppl like this guy inspire me, because they never want to school or did bad and drop out, and most of us thing you have get a PHD to operate a simple thing or invent.

now I think I can do it.

  • he goes like 2000 ft under water!

  • Good going man.

  • The Chinese desperately need people like this chap, outside the far east the Chinese are known to be hard working, clever, but ultimately lacking in creativity and innovation. In the vid he says he only had basic education, if their government had half a mind they would train him up to degree level and start him working on his own stuff. They probably won't though.. gotta keep to the schedule

  • @LeClassics There are probably millions of people like this gentleman, but the chinese government is afraid of giving them a chance. Minds like his would tend to develop an unacceptable concept in China called democracy.

  • The Second Renaissance will come into full swing in this decade. The old Paradigms of the Industrial Revolution are not working. Scientists say that by 2032 Half of the worlds species will be extinct. If we keep going down this path, we will not make it to the 22century. New "Exotic" forms of energy must be found. Geothermal, Solar, and Tide energy is a start.

  • i don't think this guy is crazy. once in a while, the world needs a guy like him to lighten up things for us.

  • Are these people scared of anything DAMN

  • The Hunley, the first submarine, built during the Civil War in America, killed several crews including its inventor because of an outward opening hatch that was kept on with water pressure like this young man's machine. The Hunley was lost in about 34 feet of water in the ocean the night after sinking the Union vessel "Housatonic" (not sure if that's spelled right). This young man's machine is a death trap with the water pressure of any depth in open ocean.

  • No education!? In a previous video he stated that his sub could dive for up to 32 ft - This requires equations, physics and mathematics of a much higher degree than 4th grade!!

  • @Verradonairun

You don't have to go to school to learn all this. He can do readings on his own.

Experience > going to school and reading books and taking tests

  • @benkenser

I didn't mean to offend anyone with my comment. I just doubt that you can build a submarine without the necessary knowledge.

I majored in physics, chemistry and mathematics (highschool top-level) in Denmark - And I STILL don't know enough about engines, pressure, torque, forces, metallurgy and electronic engineering to make this kind of thing happen.

And what if it couldn't dive 32 ft? He would die, since he has to be in it when it dives - theory first safer than experience first.

  • @Verradonairun

It depends on what you do. I don't think physics, chemistry and mathematics would know much about mechanics =D. No offense...It's quite easy to estimate the max pressure that the structure can withstand before it leaks. I don't think you need any degree for that. This stuff is not complicated as you think.

Of course, engineer can do better work (not new university graduates)....well, by doing computer simulation, prototyping, and etc. But, trial and error works just as well

  • @benkenser

Mechanics is a branch of physics ;-) Maybe you're right, maybe I am overestimating this...I usually do. ^_^

  • this person is a great engineer, even though he didnt have an education he still made a submarine!, they are hard to build!,

  • this person is a great engineer, even though he didnt have an education he still made a submarine!, they are hard to build!,

  • Amazing! The ingenuity required to build something like that; very, very impressive. It's made even more astounding by the fact he's made it out of second hand parts that weren't made to work alongside one another. People have criticized this man in comments below mine, but in my eyes, Mr.Xiangli is a person to look up to. I certainly couldn't do it and I've stayed in school long past the age he did. I guess he must just have an aptitude.

  • 1. if it can dive and submerge its a sub

    2. all greative ppl have to start somewere if they had listened to ppl like those who critisise this dude we would be in the stoneage still

    3. what have all u that critisise greated lately and can u show a video of it ?

  • @dalmes it dives 32 feet, and has an oxygen supply. how is it not a submarine? dumb fuck.

  • I'll have a good tip for this dude... Leav your submarine for half a year under water.... and then come back to that place.... YOU WILL FIND NOTHING!!! All that rust!! LOL

  • and so ww3 began bahaa!

  • @dalmes Let me tell you again, "HE HAS NO EDUCATION" I dunno what education you have but if you passed high school, then you have a higher capacity of thinking (I doubt it)and building a sub perhaps for you is second nature. Once again, the report is not about a working piece of hardware, its about creativity and resoursefullness given the lack of both education and resources, is that enough or you want me to write it in Chinese? you are a double fool missing the point now by a trillion miles

  • @dalmes He is in the process of hit and miss, he has to iron out the technical impurities! You have missed the point by a million miles! and you still argue like a little bitch envious that a peasant has gotten the atention and you havent. The story is not about if it works or not , its about his dedication and hard work given the lack of education and resources. Perhaps you can learn a little humbleness from a person like him so y dont u STFU INSTEAD?!

  • A fifth grade education. He obviously did not watch MTV.

  • @dalmes Well of course it maters whether you have made one or not! at least he is doing something he likes and is not a loser sitting in front of a computer wasting his time like you are! What did you expect him to have a los angeles class sub with his 5th grade education? get a life you moron!

    Great sub by the way!

  • vey good

  • very very good

  • 2:13 Beautiful

Amazing that this guy was rubbish at school yet manages to build a SUBMARINE. I mean seriously, wow.

  • @dalmes Abd you're an asshole. Piss off if you don't have anything good to say.

Do you even have proof? I doubt so.

  • @dalmes where did you find that out?

  • @dalmes ok now show us the submarine you made your self, i pressume it's better

  • @dalmes lol he didnt pull it from a rope this guy had to buy his parts from a 2nd hand market and after he finished it the submarine was fully operational with a periscope and everything please do research before your act like a complete retard.

  • @dalmes WOW big words for a small man for your information the submarine moves, submerges and does propel itself and the guy in the video didn't even finish it so why don't you shut the fuck up your just embarrassing yourself in front of everyone that looks at your comments so just as I suggested to you SHUT-THE-FUCK-UP.

  • @dalmes post a video online of you making a sub until I'm proven wrong you are just a liar with nothing else better to do but criticize and make a mockery of people's inventions, so if I were you I'd shut the fuck up.

  • @dalmes i doubt you could make one asshole

  • How many can I fit in a shipping container?

  • Awesome submarine dude!!! I want one!

  • I'm a physically disabled retired toolmaker. Making a minisub has always been a dream of mine. Nice to see this guy fulfilling his dream.

  • the first thing I am going to do when i start my huge research company is find this guy and hire him as an inventor

  • We started building one when I was a kid but it got destroyed by a concerned parent before we could finish it. Glad this guy got to finish his.

  • I have an idea for how inventors can band together and make money. Contact me through my website willowdeensinventions.webs.com

  • It isn't something extra ordinary but for this guy it's the fulfillment of a dream. As a kid I had so many dreams but I never attempted to build even one.

  • He should be contracted by SOME military engineering company. He deserves it.

  • He was later contacted by a Colombian drug lord to build him a fleet of these for er....deep sea fishing:P

  • infinity ingenious of the simple man.

  • yeah it looks creative but its already been done.

  • it is electrical with diesel motor ?

  • @chilidress could be a diesel electric thats that i want mine too be

  • I wish I could have done that with my 5th grade education!

  • man, that is just cool

  • awesome lol. if i had something like that idk what i'd to with it

  • The Chinese need more people with an imagination, like this guy. Churning out a bunch of professional test takers isn't going to get you very far.

  • Just like james may tells us.

The best things in life... Come from men in sheds.

  • It is people like this who built united states

  • I saw a lot of him, but I did not see the "sub" go underwater!

  • i like that guy.... hes not a talker, but a person who is doing!

i wish i could be more like him. i suffer from ADD and depression, so getting stuff done is hard for me.

good wishes to him... may he always stay afloat.... :D

  • Let's hope he doesn't start another Pearl Harbor.

  • @agun17 they were japan not chines. Learn your history first.

  • I bet underneath it says "made in China"

  • Jap sub from ww2 .your a sap mr.jap

  • Every guy in the world needs a hobby that will challenge him, go for it dude, and make more films!

  • it doesnt sink it floats coz it is made in China.

  • Just goes to show it's pointless to have all the requirements that some schools have. This guy built and can operate a submarine with a fifth grade education. Why do I need to go into Algebra 1, 2 and 3 if it's not in my interests?

  • @joshuaspinks Because you're too stupid to realise what is good for you?

  • @solidcrab16 hey while youre at it could you go grab me a velociraptor and George Washington's rifle?

  • chinnese should not be allowed to make subs look wat happened at pearl harbor dumb chinks

  • @heyitsMJM That is JAPAN who attacked pearl harbor. If you knew anything about history, you should know that. also, they attacked for the same reason the US. attacked the middle east: they needed resources, and they attacked before they had nothing left. next time learn some history before posting like this.

  • @heyitsMJM Hahaha.. I can't get enough of these 'smart' racist comments on youtube, truly a disgrace to your own race and humankind.

  • he probably shouldn't try to test it in the ocean unless he wants the Chinese military to detect it and mistake it as a torpedo and send another torpedo at him

  • fake story

  • Smart Guy!

  • While some people trolls on the Internet, some build submarines.

(Just in case they don't get it: haters, get-a-life)

  • At least he is doing it in a shallow canal. Few years back I was on Roatan and a guy had a sub that he built from a set of plans from Popular Mechanics. He was taking tourists down 600 ft. Obviously not much in the way of liability laws in Honduras.

  • Awesome....

  • How did you please the local officials? Did they give you a Political Officer? lol

  • Asian, do more talk less... awesome...!!!

  • China is just growing too quickly for its technologies...

    its revising itself now

  • the only reason why their are 5 dislikes on this video cus of the racist people out their...

  • i wonder how many chink test pilots drowned durring the construction of this bootleg submarine

  • @101andrewj No one died, he built it himself (while your struggling to change window frames from your house),

  • reminds me of the homemade submarine the catched going from Colombia to Sinaloa, Mexico full of cocaine xD

Of course they had more money to spend on a submarine. Good luck to this man, really smart.

  • Awsome. There is man what is dedicated to his hobby. And what kinda sub he would build if he got top parts.

  • Very cool video!

  • chinese are smart and intelligent people

  • @mrblurblur2003 that could be true for anyone on this planet especially Cornelius van Drebbel the man who built the first submarine

  • @mrblurblur2003 yeah and their over populated.

  • @BB3AST China is over populated, but i believe he said Chinese. Therefore your statement makes no sense.

  • @LOLITSMELOL100 ok tell that to someone who cares, cause i sure dont big nose.

  • @BB3AST Cared enough to reply right?

  • @mrblurblur2003 well they have to be since they have small wieners

  • @mrblurblur2003

It is not difficult to make actually, you only need three things: time & money and of course, place to test it.

  • The water is polluted

  • I wish I could buy sonar equipment on ebay.

  • So this guys must be responsible for the mystery missile launch off California coast.

  • Goddamn it, I can't even take my door knobs apart!

  • awesome mate, top work

  • Outstanding!

  • this dude rocks!!

  • What a great guy. Good for him! I'm proud of him.

  • click 00:01 to skip ads

  • picture what he could have done if he got went to college my god

  • Ahhh I'd love to do that!

  • profesor fate sub?

  • This is how things like this are created; talented men like him who don't pay attention to the naysayers, but just go ahead and try to make something. He no doubt had alot of trial and error moments, but he kept trying. Good for him.

  • thats a good way to die

  • This man has a spirit. He is very gifted with motivation and a productive, fruitful mind. We hope his ancient and gentle country will give him the chance for a proper education. But he is obviously already gifted with a mechanical talent and genius. He could help his country a lot.

  • Great story of a hard working mind, following its passion. The guy's a genius-just stating the obvious!

  • cool and great :)

  • Can this thing submerge?

  • @io3000gamma they said it can submerge to a depth of 10m in another vid.

  • showing this to my mom and then dropping out of school.

  • that is beast i need him to make me one

  • @MrOntological You are a retard. LOL

  • Comment removed

  • this man is ready in 2012 end of the world

  • @jejomar14344 fail

  • Maybe this thing can help north Korean people to escape their country.........

  • i like this guy

  • colombia would pay top dollar for that submarine to use it as cocaine submarine :)

  • @campeao4 hahahahaahahahahahh

  • I like how he is frowned upon for making this! :(
