I'm not religious any more and I'm skeptical of afterlife beliefs, but this song has always touched me, especially as I lost the love of my life at age 25. I think the River Jordan can be thought of as something within us associated with profound life passages or transitions such as growing through the loss of dearly loved ones.
Their beautiful love was a blessing, one they always cherished. This song brings tears to my eyes. It's like they knew their afterlife would also be spent together. RIP, Johnny and June
@Dash171 What dots? I'm tired of people arguing about religion on here, and I know for a fact that J.R. Cash would be a little annoyed too, this video was to memorialize him, not to argue about religion.
@acashfan1 Speaking the truth of Christ...the same Christ Johnny believed in should not be disrespected and called "Bible Thumping"....I find your lack of faith disturbing.
@Dash171 Lack? Excuse me, I attend church regularly, read the Bible on a daily basis and have professed my faith in Jesus Christ, he is my savior and I love him, just as I love Johnny Cash, I find your arrogance and quick judgement disturbing.
No, this was recorded in the mid 70s, there have been other versions, there was one close to June's death, but it was recorded in the 90s, not 2003 when she passed away. This is from the 70s. 1976 to be exact.
The day that I see my sweet Jordan running through the shallow waters of the river Jordan, reaching for my hand, will be one of the most precious days of my life, mortal or eternal. It will rank right up there with, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
The video is beautiful. John and June sound great together on this, the pics are so sad at the end. And what happened to Jessi? She sure looks "rough".
I have to say what a beautifully put together group of photos, nicely done a real tribute to the song ty

Don't start your bible thumping here, there's no need to disrupt a happy memorial.

@Sheteck1 The amazing thing is when Junes sings her verse
" If it proves to be His will that I am first to go
And somehow I've a feeling it will be
When it comes your time to travel likewise don't feel lost
For I will be the first one that you'll see."
It's was like June knew she was going first: another great song is Johnny singing "Will You Meet Me In Heaven"
