the most disappointing thing from this special in my opinion, coming from a fan of the classic series, was the fact that androzani was mentioned and barely anything else happened pertaining to that; hence "the caves of androzani' which was voted not too long ago as the greatest doctor who story of all time; peter davison's regeneration story

@urieltrag There's no way DW will hold to the 13 lives rule. There's so many ways to get out of it, for example: River Used up all of her regenerations to bring the Doctor back. Maybe he now has 13 more regenerations?

While that might have been a "clever lie" just to get one of the kids to stop asking him questions, he probably meant to imply that he had more than 13 left. Besides, there are so going to be way more than 13 Doctors. :)

as others have said, its possible that he does infact die, but this is his much older self, contacting an amy from an earlier time, so he can set a rescue plan in motion as has happened countless times before.

We're not supposed to believe he's dead, I don't think Moffat is that stupid to insult our intelligence. The suspense is in seeing how he escapes. Always. That's how it usually is. This is just another time where he almost died, but we just have to wait to see how he escaped coz it looks impossible but we know its not.
