Little do people understand that the eighties was a small time of romanticism in American history. What we have now is stagnant realism and unmotivating political correctness telling us America was evil for what it accomplished.
The world's greatest soap opera with an unforgettable cast featuring the likes of Barbara Stanwick, Charlton Heston, Ally MacGraw, Rock Hudson, and even President Gerald Ford and Secretary of State Henry Kissinger made cameo appearances in an episode!
Aww thank you so much for posting this.....it gave me memories of my mom, being a little girl and watching Alexis (i wanted to be her so bad) looking at the clothes and glamour *sigh* l had a flashback! Lol........ LONG LIVE DYNASTY!!!!
This show should have been named : "How we fleeced America, and destroyed anyone who got in our way"....or "A day in the life of Goldman Sachs, and how we single handedly destroyed the USA by holding the economy of the country hostage to make money for our bloated lifestyles"....

Interesting to see names of these cast members.... Wayne Northrup, Leann Hunley, and Deborah Adair all three appeared on the American soap opera "Days of Our Lives", Gordon Thomson was a star on the American soap opera "Santa Barbara", Heather Locklear was on the show "Melrose Place", and Ted McGinley was on the American sitcom "Married With Children".
I was a pre-teen when Dynasty aired in this country. And still I remember almost all the names, from Fallon to Dominique Devereaux, Blakes long lost sister, living in a suite in la Mirage. And Alexis, who spend half of her waking hours in a bath tub and wore an evening robe the rest of the time. Every sunday at 16:00 my mother, my aunt and I sat in the sofa together and watched an episode of Dynasty. Good times...
Oh, the memories....thank you for making this, I remember watching this with m y parents when I was a little kid! And now that I think about it, why in the hell did I watch a soap opera as a child... haha...
Well done! It must have taken forever! I didn't realize that Al Corley and Heather Locklear had so many different opening credits. I'm glad Bo Hopkins left, but when did he return? I wish he'd have taken Pamela Bellwood (Claudia) with him. Who are Robin Sachs, Karen Cellini, Helmut Berger, Cassie Yates, James Healey, Terri Garber? It's great to see Leann Hunley (Anna Dimera from DOOL). Funny, but she & Wayne Northrop (who played the chauffeur) were married on DOOL. Very good video!
--Cassie Yates played Sarah Curtis, a woman who donated her dead daughter's heart to Krystina, and then started to believe that Krystina was her daughter.
--James Healey was Sean Rowan, Joseph Anders' son and Kirby's brother. He tried to kill Alexis in revenge for Joseph's death and Kirby's disgrace.
--Terri Garber was Ben Carrington's "daughter" Leslie, who later found out that her lover's father might be her biological father.
@tonywrestles2 Wow Tony! Thanks so much for the info about all those people. I watched the show for probably the entire time it was showing, but the older I got the more I may have gone to do other things. Ben Carrington??? Wasn't that Blake's father? So, Leslie would be Blake's sister, right? Also, who was Michael Brandon? I do seem to remember Cassie Yates now after what you wrote. Thanks again very much. This was such a classic show. My Mother loved the show as well did I.
Nope, Ben was Blake's brother--he allied with Alexis for a while to screw Blake over. In the Season 6 cliffhanger, he's the one keeping Krystle from interfering while Blake strangles Alexis.
I got the incest storyline wrong, actually--Ben was indeed Leslie's father (which made her Blake's niece), but she eventually learned that there was a strong possibility that he was her lover's biological father as well.
@tonywrestles2 Hey Tony, Thanks again for all the feedback. I didn't remember all that. Why did they replace Catherine Oxenberg with Karen Cellini? As I recall, Catherine wanted too much money. Also, who did Leann Hunley play, and who did she marry? Did she marry Adam?
Oxenberg indeed wanted too much money, and the producers didn't feel she was pulling her weight on the show--she wasn't a strong enough actress to hold her own with La Collins, for example. Leann Hunley played Dana Waring, Adam's childhood sweetheart and, very briefly, his wife.
@tonywrestles2 Thank you! Who was Claire Yarlett, and what role did she play? I konw that Pamela Sue Martin just wanted to travel, I think or just do other stuff, but I don't understand why she left the show. It was such a cash cow for the main players. How do you know all this stuff? Did you go to D.U. (ie. Dynasty University lol). Or are you really Richard Shapiro in disguise????? ;)
I never understood why Pamela Sue Martin left the show, either--it was a disaster for all concerned. She never worked in anything as high-profile, and Emma Samms just wasn't up to replacing her.
Clair Yarlett never actually appeared on Dynasty proper. She played Bliss Colby, youngest child of Jason and Sable Colby, on the short-lived spinoff The Colbys.
As for Michael Brandon, he wasn't in the TV series, he was only in the movie. He played Arlen Marshall, owner of a fashion company that used Sammy Jo as a model. He, of course, was sleeping with her.
@tonywrestles2 That's amazing. How do you remember all this? Again, I really enjoyed watching the show, but it's been years! I would do better in a trivia contest for The Brady Bunch or Charlie's Angels.
LOL....I'm a librarian, which means I know what sources to use to find information. The sites I use for this are IMDb's Dynasty pages (which are scrupulously correct) and Ultimate Dynasty (which isn't, but is close enough that I can recognize the mistakes).
@tonywrestles2 LOL. Well, so much for D.U. LOL I was just wondering how you knew all this. I just don't remember all the story lines. I still don't know why Al Corley left. Again, why leave a cash cow? His career along with Pamela's went nowhere. However, I do remember seeing Pamela co-host a show called "Star something". It was a competition among celebrities (like the Brady kids against the Walton kids, etc.).
@tonywrestles2 Really? Why would he do something so stupid like that? I don't understand something most of us have to work a job at least 5 days a week without having 5 months in a row like these "stars". So, why can't they just be happy with what they have? They made more in a week, than what we made in about a year. Nowadays, they make so much more!
He wasn't happy with the direction the Shapiros were taking Steven--ABC pressured them to straighten the character up, which is why the character of Sammy Jo was created. He wanted them to take more risks with the character and was annoyed that they wouldn't.
@tonywrestles2 Well, I'm sure a lot of actors don't like the direction their character goes. However, to me when you're on a # 1 hit show, don't make waves. Enjoy it and put the money in your pocket. We can see where his career went. It went nowhere. He was on 2 episodes of a show in 83, 2 shows in 85, one in 86 and in 89, and he reprised his role of Steven in 91 for the reunion, but his career went nowhere. I really appreciate all of your knowledge on the show. Thanks so much!
Oh my God!!! Lot lot lot lot of work. Thank you for taking so much of your time to bring us back so much memories. I love the idea, well done and well executed.
THis was great. Thanks for posting it. I have been watching the first season on DVD and as I watching this I thought I know i saw some other credits that were not here and turns out I just watched it. Its one of the extras on the season 1 DVD called Family, Furs & FUn. It has all of the characters from the first season with diffferent pictures than these on it including dif shots of Pamela Bellwood, Bo Hopkins & Katy Kurtzman. But those were not part of the seasons. Check those out on the DVD
i was a huge fan of dinasty back in those days, i was just a kid though, can sby tell me were there saisons after the moldavian massacre?? they stopped showing the dinasty after that in ex YU; i see characters on the openings in the later saisons but they appear also before the moldavian weding...hope sby will tell this
@dorotea6 Danny6092 -i totally agree the first steven and fallon were much better and much sexier, al corley was really hot, he became a pop star in europe for a brief moment in the mid 80s, check out his videos for the singles "square rooms" and "red dress ". i think pamela sue martin and al corley thought theyd go onto greater things after "Dynasty" , but they didnt !!!
For me it feels like yesterday. I haven't even aged that much :) And the nineties, from a cultural, well mostly i let that went by me. I'm delving into the 50s right now. That was even before me.
we waste too much time with things that don´t pay anything were blinded from the media and the fake system,i don´t want to disturb nobody but too much of that things implimentate
fake feelings in us and make us live an lie ALLAHU AKBAR one day we all stay in front of our creator, and nothing of this can help us to find the way..we must realize it....search the truth... search islam
This was an awesome edit, thank you! I had just finished watching all nine season's worth fo openings and then I noticed this one. Could have saved me all the effort! LOL
i used to watch this every week as a kid, thinking back wow didn't they have some major stars appearing.... Rock Hudson, Charlton Heston, George Hamilton... !! Always preferred Dallas though.
Wow I use to <3 this show, what fond memories :) And the guest stars that was great! I knew you were going to save Alexis for the end :) Nice call and ty for sharing.
You did a great job editiing it--I appreciate the great score and these classy ladies. Emma Samms and Catherine Oxenberg were my favorites...Oxenberg was also on "Acapulco Heat"
It was a prime time soap very popular in the 80s. It was full of incredible larger-than-life storylines wrapped in the glam of the 80s. It's a nice reminder of the decade. From todays point of view it looks quite silly.
The 80s was the yuppie decade--big dreams, big romance, hope for the entrepreneur--everyone aspired to be somebody...today that dream is dead. Many people achieved great success then...the big companies you know today. We need those dreams again..
It was one I didn't watch much, pretty much we watched it on Thursdays because it was on just before "Hotel," a series that my family always enjoyed.
IMHO, this is a good series and fun to watch, but I would recommend given your age you might watch a couple of episodes here first before you by the DVDs though just in case - it's not everyone's cup of tea.
such grandiosity..how many people were in this show? looks like a hundred! (still a lot of them look like major babes to me now, course im in my thirties so of course..)..they were hot when i was in my teens but there was no way i was gonna score like when im 11 or 12 :( ...
From what I can tell there is only 1 shot missing, that is a Linda Evans on of her wearing a red dress with a drink in her hand, it was only ever used in 1 possibly 2 epsidoes in series 1 and was not part of the DVD release, it's a rare one!
Opening credits over-kill; really. Some cast members introduced 3x. Total 8mins of opening credits to a 60mins show not to mention the closing credits. No wonder the show was successful the viewers couldn't get enough and had no other choice but to tune in next time.
They're showing all of the opening title shots of the actors for the whole series. usually these were about two minutes tops, maybe a little longer if they had a long cast.
Trust me - save recaps of entire seasons for reality tv shows, there's never been an opening titles 8 minutes long.
Some other ones you might know: "Doctor Who" (O'Mara), "Charlies Angels" (Forsythe), "Grease 2" (Caulfield), "Models, Inc" (Samms), TJ Hooker (Locklear), "The Love Boat"/"Married with Children" (McGinley), "Fantasy Island" (Montleban).
And you have famous movie actors and singers such as Heston, Carroll, Hudson, Harrison and others.
This show probably had the most well-known actors/future long running actors out of all the popular nighttime soaps IMHO.
I think the credits were best when there was an object behind them (jewels, champagne, horses, skiers) instead of their own faces. The Adam working out shot was especially off in some way.
I agree, and noticed that for the most part a lot of them related to the personalities or background of the characters, such as the Tennis player for Geoffrey Scott (who played a tennis star there) and the horses for Rock Hudson (whose character owned horses).
Others make no sense, and on a couple, such as the last ones for Beller and Caufield, you can tell they were intentionally and quickly created for the TV reunion movie, as both were on the show before the last season credits were made.
Yes, it was fantastc. When i grew up in late 70s an early 80s I knew everything about the actors. I was the greatest Linda Evans Fan. What's up with the actors? Who has the latest news? It would be a pleasure to follow the repetion of the series.
Wonderful memories. The real reason I watched Dynasty (Irish/Eng pronunciation is "Din-is-tee", was for John James, and possibly Maxwell Caulfield when he had no shirt on.
I'm gonna buy a tux and take off the bow tie just like Jack Coleman. Then they'll know I mean business!

Well, in order:
--Bo Hopkins returned in the Season 7 cliffhanger. He took the whole family hostage to try to get Krystle back.
--Robin Sachs played Adam in the wrap-up movie when Gordon Thomson was unavailable.
--Karen Cellini replaced Catherine Oxenberg as Amanda, but she only lasted a season.
--Helmut Berger played Peter de Vilbis, a European financier who romanced Fallon for most of Season Four.
More to follow!

Does anyone know the mini TV Series FRESNO?
It was a great parody of these kiind of series, like Fresno. Dialogoue Example:
An Hispanic Grape Worker: "Please Mrs. Kensington, i need a raise (more money) for eat amd cloth for my family my children".
Rasin Corporate Family Head Mistress answers: Dear! I've seen what your people wear and eat. It can't possibky cost so much.
Hahahahaha! Can anyone post something of
the Fresno series????

I remember now that you mention it!!! What year was that??? So cool to travel down memory lane!
Thoughtfulguy68 1 year ago
That must have been the late eighties, i guess.
For me it feels like yesterday. I haven't even aged that much :) And the nineties, from a cultural, well mostly i let that went by me. I'm delving into the 50s right now. That was even before me.

We need those dreams again..
dedbusted 2 years ago
It was one I didn't watch much, pretty much we watched it on Thursdays because it was on just before "Hotel," a series that my family always enjoyed.
IMHO, this is a good series and fun to watch, but I would recommend given your age you might watch a couple of episodes here first before you by the DVDs though just in case - it's not everyone's cup of tea.

It has been 30 years and still no one glides down stairs like Linda Evans.
John Forsythe and Ricardo Montalban were two of the classiest individuals ever on TV
And the rest of them were pretty good too.

Pitahchez 2 years ago
They're showing all of the opening title shots of the actors for the whole series. usually these were about two minutes tops, maybe a little longer if they had a long cast.
Trust me - save recaps of entire seasons for reality tv shows, there's never been an opening titles 8 minutes long.
jadewarlock 2 years ago
Funniest thing about this video is I kept recognizing people from elsewhere...."The Heroes guy"...."That Babylon 5 chick"...Moses....Lando!!
valkur8 2 years ago 2
Some other ones you might know: "Doctor Who" (O'Mara), "Charlies Angels" (Forsythe), "Grease 2" (Caulfield), "Models, Inc" (Samms), TJ Hooker (Locklear), "The Love Boat"/"Married with Children" (McGinley), "Fantasy Island" (Montleban).
And you have famous movie actors and singers such as Heston, Carroll, Hudson, Harrison and others.
This show probably had the most well-known actors/future long running actors out of all the popular nighttime soaps IMHO.
jadewarlock 2 years ago
That's a lot of Dynasty, there!
daltondeuce 2 years ago
I think the credits were best when there was an object behind them (jewels, champagne, horses, skiers) instead of their own faces. The Adam working out shot was especially off in some way.
Youngstown529 2 years ago 7
I agree, and noticed that for the most part a lot of them related to the personalities or background of the characters, such as the Tennis player for Geoffrey Scott (who played a tennis star there) and the horses for Rock Hudson (whose character owned horses).
Others make no sense, and on a couple, such as the last ones for Beller and Caufield, you can tell they were intentionally and quickly created for the TV reunion movie, as both were on the show before the last season credits were made.
jadewarlock 2 years ago
@Youngstown529 I agree, there was no reason to have them twice on the screen. And this Dynasty theme is addictive, I haven't heard it since the 80's.

Yes, it was fantastc. When i grew up in late 70s an early 80s I knew everything about the actors. I was the greatest Linda Evans Fan. What's up with the actors? Who has the latest news? It would be a pleasure to follow the repetion of the series.

Well Linda Evans won the reality show Hell's Kitchen 2009 [UK] just last month.
