So Gorgeous! I'm excited to 'help' mine to flower, for my 1st time of having a cactus. Also, is that a 'sensitive plant growing underneath the cactus? We grew one from seed and called it Martha. The kids had hours of fun with it.
@MultiRobochicken From what I can tell in the video and from what I remember, I think the plant under the cactus is a Australian Fern Tree. It wasn't there very long before I planted it. It has been a couple of years since I have seen the Fern so I am not sure how it is doing.
I have a similar one that took eight years to bloom. I purchased it in Idaho and it was small. I watched it and took very good care of it for years and this year, finally in June, it has twenty blooms the size of saucers. It is a pinkish white and it is gorgeous. I share your interest in these beauties.
@susannebass I moved mine from Southern California where it did great for years, to Arizona... which killed it. It was a very sad day. I keep thinking of getting a new one but living in Colorado makes me feel like it would not do well. If you had one in Idaho, then maybe I have a chance.

they prefer to be in hanging container/pot,the soil must be quick draining and water only about every 2 to 3 weeks, they want morning sun, never a midday sun or their leaves will turn yellow.
@jpbinhouston apparently they are very sensitive to ambient light (meaning porch lights, street lights, etc.) you might try putting a blanket over it during the evening.
I got a bunch of different orchid cacti cuts and they have rooted but do not seem to be growing well. I found out last year that they DO NOT like full sun :( Yours looks beautiful. I want some blooms like that.
Thanks! I got that plant in the late 90's in southern california and it did wonderful there. As soon as I moved to Arizona though it got shocked and died on me. I must have had that plant for 10 years... it was very sad to loose it.
I can feel your pain, you get used to smelling and looking at something that beautiful it's gonna hurt when it leaves . I used to date a girl like that, then I took up computers and became a nerd... these are the cosiqinces of our decisions but all things aside that flower was prettier than her....

I've had one for two years and it has grown 5 ft tall but only bloomed once. How do I make it bloom again??
