Hardy, Yep- SPOT ON. I did "come of age" during those yrs. Graduated high school in 81 - so I saw most of these acts live, in their prime: Queen, Foreigner, Styx, Journey, Van Halen, Def Lep, Boston, The Who, Poison, Pat Benatar, Rush, Asia- just too many to name. But 100% honed, hard core MUSICIANS. BIG ARENA concerts - indoor and outside. 20,000 to 60,000 or more sometimes. I was at the US Festival, the Coliseum, the Forum L.A., etc. Just total mega theatric rockin SHOWS. A lost era.

There are SO many so called "bands" out today that CAN'T play, CAN't SING, CAN't harmonize- just CRAP. The 70's -80's arena rock bands made it BIG, because they were near PERFECT at their craft. Most had classic backgrounds in music- building on Mozart like melody and timing, add SOARING high voices + PITCH perfect 3, 4, 5 part harmonies, RIPPING guitar solos, synths, bad a z z drummers- the pinnacle of theater rock. Kansas, Journey, Queen, Styx, the "hair" metal bands, etc. REAL musicians
