damn dude fuckin love that tone. probs one of my favorite mayer solos. You made it completely your own tho, used a few of his licks. Love your style man sounds real nice. keep jammin'
you know, you say there's some empty space at the end where you could've slipped in a few more riffs....but to be honest, in my opinion, i think you utilized it very well. space is like the most underrated thing when it comes to soloing these days. most of the solos i hear people play, it's very technically impressive, but they ain't sayin nothin musically. this is now one of my favorite videos on youtube, so thank you very much for uploading. keep up the good work!
You have a great style man, now branch out from the JM stuff and find your sound! JM is the modern gateway to greatness, just like Clapton was to him.
@jacoboy123 and EC, and Buddy Guy, and BB King . . . I'd say his sound is more like those three than SRV, but his sound is unique from all of them, which is what makes him good. People can imitate people all day, but its when they find their own personal sound that greatness happens.
@abratskeller But if you heard Mercy from the 2008 tour, in fact any solo from JM, you can clearly hear riffs from SRV, but then again, SRV was also influenced by BB and Clapton. I think we can just trace everything back to Robert Johnson!
Well, I played violin for eight years before guitar. I guess just listen a lot and practice a lot. The penatonic scale is a pretty universal blues scale...learn that. As for websites...YouTube is a great place to learn! Thanks a lot!
@vaughan0827 learn as many jm and SRV songs as you can, look up pentatonic scale boxes. learn a bit of jazz, a bit of funk, and maybe you will be almost as good as this guy because he truly is a genius.
nice playin, nice strat too. i am considering the hot rod 62, and the 62 reissue. how do you find the 9.5 neck to play? is that a chunky neck? the 62 reissue is 7.25 wondering what your thoughts are....do you get any hum from the pickups? sounds great!
Hey Myles its Melinda S. (from pottery) if ya someone told me you had some videos so i looked them up. You are great at the guitar. hope to see another video soon
Great tone, love it!
