I got mine off Craigslist but it didn't used to do it.

The E82 error means that there is something wrong with the HDMI or A/V cables in your XBox. I looked it up on the internet and it told me to unplug my A/V or HDMI cables and turn off the TV and plug them back in, but it didn't work so now I'm screwed because I can't send it in to XBox because the bastard I got it from opened the damn thing up and ruined the warranty. Now I'm pissed because I just bought a 1 year subscription to XBox LIVE.

Same thing happened to me. I was playing like 3 years old xbox 360 on LCD SAMSUNG and works fine. My mum told me to transfer it to my room, where the old TV is. I turned it on, 2 days later RROD...

I fixed it. Played on LCD 100~ times, replaced to old TV again and boom RROD again.

Typical reasons:

1. Hard drive. Try to turn the console without the hard drive in place. If the console operates normally, turn it off then put the hard drive back in place. Turn the console on. If the red light appears again, the HDD is defective (or it connector is dirty, for example).

2. Accessories and USB-devices. Try to remove them.

3. Power brick fault. Check its light. If it's red, replace p.brick.

My xbox is doing something similar. it will start up green, the rings will light up, spin, flash once, dim, and (with a controller plugged in) no rings light. the xbox boot screen will play, stop, and after about 25 seconds or so, error E64, and red dot.

E64 on the slim means that there is a problem with the DVD drive. mine apparently has a problem with the chip that runs it, because it opens/closes fine. sending it in as soon as I get a box to ship it. thank god for the warranty!

Dude, I just had this happen last night. Playing MW2, starting specks of black on my screen, then blue lines. So turned it off, started back up and had the solid red light and red ring. Called support, they said the video card or Directory had been corrupted. Thing is, my warranty ran out a month ago and they're making pay a $100 to get it fixed or get a replacement. I think we're just unlucky or something.

Hey, My 360 just started doing this a couple months ago, 4G slim started to do this E82 shit for 5 minutes, I would restart it and it would work fine. After a month it started to really mess up the screen with snow and distorted graphics. Definetly the video card, NOT the harddrive.
