  • Very helpful!!

  • this was so helpful thanks !

  • THanks so much!

  • I just wanted to say thank you for the tutorial...I tried the bantu knots this weekend and my hair looks amazing!!!...others seem to like it too....I had so many people complimenting me and asking me about my hair to the point that it was getting slightly annoying....lol Anyways I'll be rocking this style for weeks to come :)

  • @ladynmauv okay, I know it's a year later- but thank you for your comment! It really is a timeless style!

  • comb is actually not good on dry hair!!! Natural comb--fingers---is best!

  • @tdotmusiq What kind of racist mess are you talkin? People like you are the reason humans go one step forward and two steps back. SMD(lightskinned)H.

  • im sooo scared to show off my REAL and natural hair. people have only seen me with weaves and wigs during my "transition"... its hurtful when they tell me that i SUPPOSE to have a perm and my hair looks nappy. sooo thanks for this video, im gonna try it 2NIGHT!!!

  • do you straigthen your hair before you bantu it

  • Because of your video, I plan to style my hair in Bantu knots this week. Thanks for the great, simple explanation.

  • What is the meaning of Bantu knot?

  • Thanks!!! You are so pretty!!!

  • did u wash and blow dry your hair first?

  • thank you really liked this video, it was clear, consice and straight to the point xx

  • Thank you so much! Growing up with a mother who was caucasian, she doesn't know very well how to manage my hair. But you helped me so much with your videos and now I love my natural hair! Thanks again!

  • u remind me of this girl from prince of bellair lol..excuse my spelling:)

  • I cant tell are u two strand twisting the knots then wrapping or are u coil twisting the hair.

  • was your hair natural when you did this or relaxed? and should i do this with wet hair ause my hair is thick as heck.

  • cant even see wat shes doin :-(

  • Thanks.

  • cute :)

  • omg u LOOK and SOUND like hilary banks but smarter lol

  • This video has helped a lot! Thanks!

  • know wonder my bantu knots did not come out right i braided it instead of twisting it

  • I wonder if that will work if I make the knots large... I will try it.

  • how much did u do to achieve this look btw im 10

  • i highly recommend chiney bumps. I have doing this for years. I have never used rollers. My hair always remains silky and nice. Plus no tangles

  • In Jamaica we call them Chiney bumps

  • i thought thats wat every1 called it lool

  • @Javonni18

I was just gonna say that, I was like Bantu Knots, A wah dat LOL

  • @Javonni18 True Dat!

  • You remind me of Hilary from Fresh Prince! But you're not stupid like her lol

  • @kandilicious72 hahaha doesn;t she look like her though?

  • @YNTMCompetition she does :)

  • in barbados we call it corkscrews. this was around everysince.

  • Why is this particular hairstyle called Bantu nots?

  • i think because it originated in africa, Bantu is an african word, is a group of different tribes in africa, i am from a bantu tribe and i use to do this on my hair when i was younger.

    hope this helps.

  • Why does it matter...this video is about hair? And by the way "mulatto" is not the pc term.

  • Skin colour is actually a very weak indicator of ancestry because all single races have natural skin colour divserty.

In fact natrual skin colour diversity is highest among black/ Sub Saharan Africans so there are plenty of black girls in Africa who have a skin tone similar to the girl in this video.

    google skin colour divserty highest

Anyway this video is about hair so race is irrelevant

  • thanks for the tips and btw you are gorgeous!

  • do you use pins? or black rubber bands thanks

  • thank you:-)

  • my hair is like crazy long, how long does this take????

  • Did you blow dry your hair or let it dry by air. I have been doing my bantu knots on wet hair and since my hair is permed my curls comes out really tight.

    Thank

    Kim

    Ethnic Hair Growth

  • I think that bantu knots on wet hair gives you a very tight look, but on dry hair the look is looser. In her video her hair was dry. It may be difficult for the relaxed part of your hair to curl without a lot of product- I am having that problem.

  • Beautiful tutorial! Thank you so much!

    Jah Bless,

    Cinnamonslices

  • does this work on dry hair or do you put product on it before you never said??

  • hi, I dont mean to be rude but, can this be used for a girl like me with blonde hair, if u see on my profile then, then u will see but, yes will it work on my hair?

  • I think it will work if you do it on lightly damp hair. I do very large bantu knots on wet hair doing only three on either side of my head. (I am mixed with white).

If your hair will not stay in place, just use clips to keep them up. Leave them in for a few hours (if your hair is super straight) and then unclip them and spray with hair spray to keep in the wave. Then you will look like you came from the beach.

  • Thanks ma'

  • WOW.. my mother is watchn ur videos gttn ideas and whilst she in the Kitchen i had to sign i and say, UR BEAUTIFUL... hav a nice life coz ur a breathtaking woman... wow hahahhahaa im happy 4 the whole day now, godb less Peace

  • wow. I used to do my hair like that all the time. I just didn't know it was called that. lol

  • um what products do u use before you do it to get the best results please tell me by the way great job

  • Thank you so much for your vids! You are helping me so much as I learn to fully accept my hair and its unique beauty.

  • When I was a kid we called this hairstyle Chinese Bumps. I STILL don't know why till this day!

  • Because this is an ancient African and Asian hairstyle. Chinese statues of Buddha have the same hairstyle.

  • lol! i just called them little buns. I never knew there was a technical name for them up until several weeks ago.

  • can I do this on my hair when it's been straightened out?

  • her hair is natural i believe

  • Thanks for teaching me how to do a bantu knot...I have locs and tried them on my hair for the first time last night...the hair came out CURLY!!! love it...love it!!

  • is ur hair permed and how long do u keep ur bantu knots in for before u redo them and moisturise ur hair.

  • Great tip....thanks!

  • Your hair is always so beautiful! Thank you for sharing your life with us! You are blessed sis! :) I tried these knots! LOL! They didn't come out right but still cute.... My hair takes SOOOO long to dry so I think I'll have to try dry twisting.... Man! I did these at 4pm yesterday and they STILL weren't dry this morning @ 8am!

  • You have beautiful hair!!! I am transitioning and I tried the bantu knots but my hair keeps unravelling when i try to place it in a knot on top. any suggestions/tips?

  • Snag free small rubber bands used for twists/braiding...

  • really helpful....thank you

  • How did you do your hair before you started styling?

  • it was blowdried...

  • can i do bantu knot on perm hair

  • Well of course you can DO it, but it won't come out curly. It will come out very crappy. I tried it before I went natural.

  • I am so excited and I cant wait to do my hair and it is really easy I may be bale to do this without getting someone to do the back for me question do I need to blow dry my hair and straigten it out first or just wash it then do the style

  • either way, check out my no heat bantus for the look without blowdrying

  • wow i never heard of this so your saying you can get like curls like a roller set curl? im lost

  • absolutely! Without curlers or heat if you like... here I was blowdried and lightly flatironed

  • oh okay. thank you! they come out so pretty! i cant get the knot out right lol i gotta pricetice

  • hi crownofhisglory, i just wanted to know how u get the waves u had in u hair at the begining be4 u started styling?

  • I had my hair in extra large bantus... like 6 total... best!

  • you are very good at explaining. thanks

  • I absolutely love all your videos. Being 16 and transitioning to natural hair and trying to cover up the two textures is hard with people who are literally out to put you down. So your style tips have had a major impact on my life. Thank you.

  • I am so happy to hear that these videos encourage you. This is why I do them! Blessings!

  • @houstonsexii i feel the same way and im 22! i wear weave all the time soo much that people call me weave queen due to my long weaves and wigs but they dont know im NAPPY under it, lol... im gonna do this tonight aand wear my real HAIR :-)

  • Can you do banto knots with rubberbands, because my little knots wont stay tied without anything holding them in place.

  • sure! I've seen it done often

  • Do you wear this style in public??

  • with pride!

  • thanks for the info

  • You made that look easy, thanks for the video, nice hair!

  • thank you and I appreciate your feedback

  • Thanks for the help!I also wanted to tell you that you have very gorgeous hair.

  • thank you so much!

  • THANK YOU FOR COMING UP WITH THIS VIDEO!

i've found what im really looking for my hair!

MORE POWER TO YOU! hope you'll come up with more of you're brilliant idea! take care :)

  • thank you for supporting!

  • thank you for this video. It's very helpful!1

  • My hair seems like it is the same texture as yours and i did that style before and it came out beautiful!! but i tried to do it again and it was a mess!!LOL!! but im going to try it again this weekend and take pics of it!!I LOVE U GIRL...UR A ROLE MODEL!!

  • I can't wait to see your photos! Trust me the only role i can play is in Jesus' shadow...but thank you so much!

  • Love your videos...you have such a great spirit! I can't seem to get my bantu knots to stay in...so i started to clip them and use bobby pins but then they came out wavy but not exactly curly and some were flat all together. I waited until my press fell and my hair is natural...any suggetions?

  • after the press falls is the best time. You may need to add a creme moisturizer like Perm repair to hold hte curls if your hair is super straight.

  • i love your hair

  • Can this be done with your hair soaking wet?

  • I do it with my hair wet, but if you want to take them down to make a bantu knot out.... it'll take a full day to dry.

  • im just getting started. my last relaxer was about 1 1/2 months ago. so i still have a long way to go to get where i want to be.i wanted to know could i use the bantu knots to start out with a wavy look?

  • i hope someone else can chime in... I've never transitioned so I can't say with certainty....I would lean towards yes.... anyone else?

  • i did try the bantu knots and while i didn't get a wavy look it still had a beautiful outcome. it cam out in this super curly head of hair. it was very easy to maintain as long as i did it every night. thanks alot!!

  • SO african american hair is not NORMAL!?

  • lol I was just about to ask the same.

What do you mean by normal?

  • Babydoll, the best way is to experiment. I think with some mousse and gel it should work on straighter textures

  • I have to say thank you!! Last night I was so frustrated with my natural hair - I was drying it out so badly with products to achieve a curly look. I actually started looking for a weave!!! I stumbled on this video and tried it last night. I LOVE IT!! My hair loves it. Seeing your hair, gives me hope! Thank you so much!

  • Your comment is the reason I do these videos. Thank you for supporting... . You WILL have a crownofglory by the summertime, in Jesus' name!

  • Such a no-fuss, easy style! :D

How do you retain the style at night Satin scarf?

  • Yes, use a satin scarf to keep it. Re twist each night...

  • Oooh!!! I am so excited!!! I grabbed a section of my hair & started twisting, but I will do it for real tomorrow & take it down Thursday, for my B-day!!! THANK YOU!!! :)

  • Happy belated Birthday! How did the style work out?

  • I absolutely adore your videos! I am practicing Bantu Knots. I have a difficult time keeping the knots from unraveling. Do you have any suggestions?

  • try using small bobby pins to hold them in place

  • So, you're rolling your hair btwn your thumb and index finger (twisting), right?

  • Yep!

  • thank you so much

i will do this right away

  • Poat a vid!

  • That was helpful.

  • WOW!

how do you keep your hair so long ?? its beautiful

  • Daily care and diet... check out upcoming video

  • Nice! Thanks for the tips!

  • You are so beautiful, absolutely gorgeous! Your hair is flawless. That white woman called whitebeauty30 has gone absolutely nuts watching your natural beauty unfold. I see why she is so jealous of you. If I was a pale, furry, oops, I meant stringy- haired blonde I would be green with envy too!

  • Thank you for all your support and kind words about my hair.

    Best,

    Crown

  • Does your hair have to be curly? My hair just got pressed last month but when I try to do the knot, it doesn't want to twist. How do you do it?

  • It doesn't work when the hair is really straight, so I just blowdry instead of pressing or I wait until my press begins to "go back". :-)

    Crown

  • My hair wont stay in the knot it falls out completly

  • try small bobby pins to hold them in place

  • I have natural hair as well. When you did this it seems like u blow-dried it out, but I'm not sure. Did you blow-dry it first? I want to try this, but I don't want to blow dry my hair first. I do twist-outs now by just twisting and letting it air dry overnight.

  • Yes, it was blowdried... see my no heat bantu knot out for the look on wet/air dried hair

  • you too damn pretty, if i was your husband id keep my gun on me just in case some thug try to get fresh with you!

  • too funny!

  • I do joke but that comment was not one of em, Im serious about that, you fine as wine in the summertime sweety, and I mean that!

  • kwik question my daghters hair is extra curly & it gets dry real often i tried alot of leave in conditioners is there any u culd recommend

  • doo grow creme moisturizer, any olive oil creme moisturizer, lustersilk creme moisturizer. You should always combine the moisturizer with an oil for the best results...

  • MurphyDinklage: the best hair moisturizer I have ever found was straight up vegetable glycerine mixed with water in a spray bottle. I stopped using it for a day and without the glycerine, all of the conditioner I could slather on my hair would not work. Try it and tell me what you think

  • o wait never mind i see you say you can do this for permed hair.

how do you main the curls though? i would want to have my hair like this for a while so how do i maintain it? thanks!

  • it should last about three days with a cap on at night

  • can you only do this on natural hair? or relaxed also

  • you can do this on both natural and relaxed hair, even bone straight (it will be wavy, not curly)

  • Thank you so much for this tip. I tried this look today and my curls came out so cute! I am on my way to healthier hair

  • Yeah!

  • I tried for the first time but could not seem to get the ends to tuck under. any tips?

  • use small bobby pins or clips to hold in place.

  • Thanks!I will take this into consideration when my hair grows out again. I really should have put some on top and I think it would not have turned out so bad thanks for the advice. ~~~

.(^_^). no hair now though.. lol, b blessed

  • thank you

    you're pretty!

  • Thanks for the video I got a link to this video from a fotki album and tried the bantu knots that night. I love that your video is quick and to the point and my knots came out PERFECT! You and your hair are gorgeous by the way!

  • I'm so glad they worked out... aren't they convenient for busy moms!? Thank you so much for the compliments...thank you so muc for watching! - Crown

  • She's an elegant and beautiful woman.
