its arrid, and shantytown ish. Its a disapointment when you are staying at the Garopa 5* hotel and the town is so squalid. Very pricey too for some unusual reason. T shirts for £25 ? under arm deoderant spray £12 ? bizarre! Obviously people badgering you every step. However there is a charm to cape verde, especially if you take the island tour and dont mind slumming it a bit. unusual bars, restaurants. The Blue eye/scenery. clear skies/stars , plus good fishing. ok but wouldnt go back

Went to Sal in 2005. All I can say is it is completely undeveloped and 'basic' with very little shops. Not a tropical island either...more a sand pit in the Atlantic ocean!! Great for water sports, but certainly not a family holiday.

I was in Sal in 2001 and there where even less shops and houses and it was much much much more beautiful!But those days are gone... I'll go with my son next year

Why dont you go to Euro Disney or Vegas. It is not a "sand Pit", not all of world looks like a generic vacation brochure. Cape Verde is a beautifull place for those who want to expose ther families to the diversity of the world's landscape..
