  • lmao this was awesome!!!!!

  • ;-) it was so much and fun. The same event is coming up soon as well, July 14/15th I think from memory and so I am hoping to enter again. Ian

  • looks like great fun & very difficult, especially 4 at a time ! feel sorry for the dude trying to count laps ! well flown btw :)

A mini redbull air race would be cool too against the clock, 1 pilot at a time etc 5 gates arranged in an X with a quadro in the middle (thats 12 inflatable pylons) which the pilot would stand near to ease line of sight through the gates pick your gate order for the given course say 10 gates for a whole course etc

    what do you reckon ?

  • Hey. Thanks for the compliment on the flying mate. I've been asked to go back this year and defend my title, but as I don't yet have a 450 I'm going to have to borrow one. Of course no ones offering me theirs yet ;-) There is a few options you could do along similar lines that would be entertaining to watch, some riskier than others. More models would be interesting to. Ian

  • I dont think anyone is going to lend you one though dude collision risk is just to high so it looks like your gonna have to knuckle down and just buy one :) or a cheaper alternative, doesn't need to be trex does it ? any old 450 will do surely

its confusing to watch as it is let alone more models.

head to head would be good, easier to follow, put a limbo on the straight or better yet a ring of fire to fly through :)

still though I like the idea of redbull race thing..

  • Hey. Yeah I know, not even my friends will let me borrow theirs ;-)

I am trying ot get hold of a 450 in time for this years event, btu we'll see. Ideally it has to be an Align now as I am sponsored by these guys. The abvoe video was taken when I was with CenturyUK & so I had one of their GL450's I was using.

I am trying to get hold of a Trex 450 V3 to play with. Ian

  • get align to loan you one surely ?

V3 ooh sounds good didn't realise one was on de way whats new on it ?

  • Hi. Yes, thats what I'm trying but as you've seen getting one for a pylon race isn't easy ;-)

The V3 has only just been released, the main change is the main frames being similar to that of the T500 of one per side which is good. Tube drive tail as well and some rotor head changes. This one's been designed by Jason Krause, unlike the original 450 which wasn't. Ian

  • ha ha!......good video!.......you lot have good control over those 'steel-dragonflys'.

  • Hey. Yes it is a very funny video and so addictive to actually watch in case any of us meet with mother earth at full speed ;-) I'm counting down now till this years event, but I am going to have to borrow a model to do so as I do not have an Align 450 machine in my collection to use. My friends are getting worried as I've hinted at using theirs ;-) Ian

  • Sweet Jesus that looks like fun and an opportunity for some unfortunate heli carnage.

    Must see more!

  • Hello. LOL, yeah it was such fun it really was. The sight of 4 helis all taking off at the same time in close proximity to one another & all aiming to get round the first pylon first is something to see. If I do more I'll certainly post it. Ian

  • Hey. I'm running the Align DS510 & 520's servos on my 500. 3 of the more powerful ones on the CCPm and one of the quick ones on the tail. The tail servo is up to the spec of the S9257 but half the price! Really cant complain about that and they feel nice in the air to. Normally cheaper servos feel just that but these..... Align have a good product as ever. Ian

  • Hey Dude, Yes it's all setup and in th model ready to go just waiting on the weather to test it. Am considering going in a few minutes but watching what the weathers doing. Ian

  • have you now fully tested it, if so, what do you think of it, thanks.

  • Hello Mate. Yes, I have dude. It's a great little gyro, straight off the bench it's flying really well and holding well to. The BLS251 tail servo is awesome to. Hopefully going out again tomorrow with it and so that will let me put a few more tanks thru it but so far great. Also running in my new Trex500 as well which is proving a great little machine. Ian

  • That sounds good, do you prefer it to the 611 in performance and overall? thanks.

  • Hey. Erm, as it's still early days I wouldn't like to say that I prefer it yet but it certainly seems to work as well as a 611. Of course it is just so much easier to install being all in one unit and hence then lighter as well for the smaller models. Like the idea of the brushless tail servo, time will tell as to it's reliability. Ian

  • Thats cool, I have put a torque tube on my trex 500 which is good, the ds760 is working fine, what servos are you running for cyclics on your trex 500, I'm running the jr 3500g's and 9257 for tail, very quick, thanks.

  • Have you fully set it up yet, if you have, please tell me what you think of the ds760, thanks.

  • Has your spartan ds760 arrived yet? plz reply as soon as possible, thanks, I would love to know, by the way, you have to download the software for the ds760 from the spartan website, thanks.

  • Hello Matey. Yes, just today it arrived and I am in the process of putting it all in the model and setting it up. I had already downloaded the software ready to go before the gyro came as I order the USB lead at the same time. I'm excited to get it all in & hooked up ready to test. Ian

  • ... is the future in gyros, the 611 is bulky and heavy, I know it holds well but it's old, it came out in 2006, the spartan ds760 is the best gyro I have ever used, quite a lot better than the gy401, thanks.

  • It is a cracking machine mate yeah, Align have the right line of thinking when they marketed that model. I've have read the Spartan is a very capable gyro and like you say as it is so compact that is one of the reasons why I am considering it, as it will be easy to fit into any model. Plus the fact you can update the firmware via PC/laptop/phone, is cheaper than the competition and it makes a good package. Probably my next high end gyro to try. Ian

  • You are exactly right, its gyro of the future, this is what all gyros should be like these days, the ds760 is amazing, all gyros should be like this, spartan know what people want, the gy611 is very big, it seems unnecessary to have all that weight, it was a good gyro when it came out but now there are better and cheaper gyros that match it quite easily, thanks.

  • Ok, Spartan, Futaba BLS251 and Flash Link ordered from Midlands ;-)

I' took your word for it, along with reading reviews and await it's arrival. Should be good and easy to fit. Cant wait to feel the servo mind, my first brushless one. Ian

  • very good choice, the brushless servos are supposed to last 5 times as long as standard, You will be very happy with your purchase, Trust me, it's easy to setup and looks very good, go on the spartan website and there is interesting details, all the top pilots are using the ds760, thanks.

  • I see that your sponsored by align, hope u get to fly the new amazing trex 700 helicopter, it's 90 size.

  • Hello matey. Yes, I have switched from Century and now fly for Align Robbe SchluterUK. Actually I am in decisive as to what model to get next, the little GL450SE is sold only need to sell Swift16 now so I have the funds to get next model. Not sure if to get Trex 450SE V2/Trex500CF now or Trex 700N now and one of the others later on. I'm aiming for 450/500, 600N (I have) and 700N. What would you do first? Ian

  • Thats cool you have a trex 600n, I have a trex 500, i have a slideshow of it on my profile showing all the parts, if it was me, I would get the trex 500cf because you already have a big nitro heli, a 700 will probably not perform much different to the 600n, the 600 e is quite old and batteries cost a bomb, the trex 500cf is big and and quite a good price, I am running 3 3500g's for cyclics and 9257 for tail, I took of my gy401 and replaced it with a spartan ds760, just as good as gy611, thanks.

  • Hey. Ah you have a 500, I must admit it appeals to me as it's certainly a capable machine & batterys are reasonable. Although I do fly in F3C on the odd occasion & have the YS91ST from my now sold Century Freestyle 90 & so I have the engine, 3 new Futaba 9351 servos, just need a gyro/tail servo. The latter is why my Freestyle never flew.

The 600 is great, I went for the Super PRO which comes with all the upgrades. Will post some videos soon. How do you find the Spartan? I am considering that...

  • for the next model as I will need to buy another gyro for it. So far I have stuck with the Gy611's purely & simple cos I know they work. That was one of the reasons I left Century as while the Swift was great I was running out of power & could not bring myself to go up to 8 or 10s as the LiPo's would be stupidly expensive. The 600N fits the bill nicely & is a great model. Ian

  • The 600n super pro, from what i have heard is amazing and i'm gald you now have one,, the spartan ds760 is the best gyro I have ever had, all the forums say it holds as well as the 611, and the ds760 is a lot lighter, It's just so cool the way you can adjust from your computer and from your phone over blutooth, thats right, you can adjust the spartan ds760 from your phone over bluetooth, you can adjust everything, also its super light and looks amazing and is cheaper than the gy611, the ds760...

  • Thats amazing, i spose u must be using 2.4ghz to fly all of them at once, i wouldn't last 5 seconds, seriously skilled, and won some nice prizes to i see, i have hem radix blades, there good and have survived two off my crashes:)

  • Hey Dude.Actually no, I think I was the only flier still on 35mhz as I am yet to make the move over to 2.4ghz. To be honest with you anyone could do it, the difficult part is getting around the pylons quicker than anyone else without hitting them. There were a few casualtys on both days, some hit the pylons, some hit the floor & others hit each other! I did touch a friends tail blade with my main rotors, took a small piece of his tail blade. But then he ket trying to fly & soon after crashed :-(

  • First comment ha ha,that was mad lol,you boys can really fly them helis, nice one mate five stars.

  • LOL, thanks buddy. It was seriously mad out there, I nearly didn't enter as the model is flying so well but I'm glad I did now ;-)

On Sunday in the final one of the competitors had his tail let go on the start, all I remember seeing (at the same time as trying to make it round the first corner in one piece) was a Trex450 spinning 6 foot in front of me then splat! I think there is another video I may be getting hold of and will post it as well. Ian
