Midi-Chlorians are merely able to communicate with the force-energy field created by all living things. When Qui-Gon explains the process he is merely elaborating upon us something that has already been established in the original films. A physical aspect of ourselves is able to interact with a metaphysical energy. I'm not entirely sure how some people can be confused by this concept.

i know the force is supposed to be a mystical energy field,. well, just because the midichlorians had something to do with the force, dosen't mean the force is in your bloodstream. i know luminous beings are to feel the force rather than be made of crude matter. the midichlorians TELL you the WILL OF THE FORCE. it dosent give you the power to force push choke, use mind tricks. the force is still an energy field.

And nowhere does it say that the Force was craeted by Midi-chlorians. They just are indicators and help the Force to physically pass into us. But the Force itself is still an altogether different power.
@tmMcHugh This is just one of those aspects of the prequels that really worked against the incredible lore established in the original trilogy. To simply explain how the force worked in this manner instead of maintaining the mysterious ambiguity that surrounded it in the original films is just bad writing on the part of Lucas which I never understand why fans are so willing to accept it in that way.

@tmMcHugh EXACTLY, my god I am sick of people complaining about how Medichlorians ruined the mysticism, even tho not once was it stated that Medichlorians are the force, but, as you said, tell you the will of the force, this does not explain what the force is, nothing has explained it to us, and as such no one has the right to complain about it.
